How to use Airpods with PS5 & Get Audio using Playstation APP (Easy Tutorial)

As of my last update, the PlayStation App does not directly support streaming game audio to AirPods or any Bluetooth headphones connected to your iPhone for PS5 gameplay. However, you can use the PlayStation App for voice chat and other features while playing on your PS5. Here’s how you can use AirPods with your PS5 for voice chat and possibly for other audio needs:
Using AirPods for Voice Chat
Setup Your PS5 for Voice Chat:
Ensure your PS5 is connected to the internet and your PlayStation Network account is signed in.
Start or join a voice chat session on your PS5 using a compatible headset connected directly to the console or the controller.
Use the PlayStation App on iPhone:
Download and install the PlayStation App from the App Store if you haven't already.
Sign in to your PlayStation Network account on the app.
Join Voice Chat via PlayStation App:
Open the PlayStation App on your iPhone.
Navigate to the Game Base section (icon with two people).
Join the voice chat session from your PS5. You can listen and participate in the chat using your iPhone and its built-in microphone or any headset connected to your iPhone.
For Game Audio
Unfortunately, as of now, the PlayStation App does not stream game audio to your iPhone, including to AirPods. Game audio is still routed through your PS5 and cannot be directly streamed to external Bluetooth devices connected to your iPhone.
Tips and Considerations
Voice Chat Quality: Ensure you have a stable internet connection on both your PS5 and iPhone for reliable voice chat quality.
Controller Use: You will still need a DualSense or DualShock 4 controller connected to your PS5 for gameplay control, as the PlayStation App does not provide game control functionality.
For game audio, including the ability to use AirPods directly for game sound while playing on PS5, you would need to use a Bluetooth transmitter as mentioned in the previous response. This involves connecting the transmitter to your PS5 and pairing it with your AirPods, circumventing the current limitations of direct Bluetooth audio support on the PS5 itself.
