Mr, Mikey McBryan You need to know without a doubt what you have accomplished in this season 1 of plane savers, is remarkable. You have somehow introduced a entirely new group of fans into the world of plane restoration. You have demonstrated exactly what a daily updated summary of a project can do to inspire viewers. You have broken new ground into just what reality television should be, I am so thankful and Thank You so much. I as well as many other viewers so look foreword to the next series. Mikey if you don't know you are a true pioneer.

Every day I had a different favorite person. One day it was a small woman going in the tail of the plane. Smiling as I remember Stella painting. Jay explained in a way that I could understand what would take place. Yes, yes. Mikey making it fun. I remember the humble man who came daily through rush hour traffic to give his time and do some video work. I have not known French Canadians. I now like them very much! This has been very special.

YES Mikey you have touched many lives with your journey to Bring DTD back to life. I was an Aircraft crew-chief and mechanic in the army for many years. but never got my A&P certification. just yesterday through you show inspired me to do it at age 62 I am going back to collage to get my A&P license. So I can work on aircraft again .

    • @flyingbeaver57
      @flyingbeaver57 5 лет назад +2

@Mark Thompson I read your post, and read it again. As it happens, I'll be 62 in seven weeks. I haven't sat in the left seat of a DHC-2 Beaver on floats for a long while. I don't know if I can get re-certified, although I can't think of a good reason not to be now. But I was always interested in Engine and Airframe mechanical work, and helped out with it whenever I could. I don't know if ENA would take me on as a student - I've got some other useful credentials - but you've planted the idea. I was flying a Beaver off the water long before I was old enough for a license. The strange (it seems strange now) was that in the bush, nobody looked sideways at me, or thought twice if I climbed out of the pilot's seat, age 10 or 11 and tied up to the dock. I was lucky - I was taught early by people who did it every day. But you've given me a different idea, and maybe a better one. Guess I'll be on the phone to ENA. Thanks for the inspiration.

Congratulations Mikey, an incredible accomplishment by everyone connected. All the people who were directly involved should be very proud of their efforts in what was a historical accomplishment done in the most unassuming Canadian way. No prima donnas, no big egos, just plane lovers giving their best to save an old war bird. To the few detractors , well I feel sorry for them that they cannot see how amazing this whole process was from start to finish. Some of us only bought merchandise, and suffered through all the commercials while others devoted weeks of their time and money working directly on the project. To everyone in the Plane Saver family thank you. You make me proud to be part of this country and the amazing people that live here.

Take a bow for a job well done. So as Plane Savers Season 1 exits stage left, on to Oshkosh. Look forward to seeing the further adventures of DTD and the Plane Savers crew as they make the trip to particpate at Oshkosh 2019. Lots of other DC-3s, C-47s going to be there, including a number that made the trip over to Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and also the 70th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. And of course not forgetting the entire Plane Savers community who watched this all come together via RUclips and put their time and dollars forward to support the cause.

Thank you, Mikey for putting this together! As someone who has managed volunteer projects (chairing Science Fiction conventions...) I know how much behind the scenes work goes into coordinating & managing the supplies, logistics and money to keep a project going. Plus you then filmed (videoed?), edited and narrated it...that is a heck of a lot of work!!! Kudos, too, to Stella, whose volunteer coordinating was so important. You probably could have done it without the volunteers, but Season 1 would have been years, not months in length! They were the grease that sped up the restoration to bring DTD back to flight worthiness! Volunteers are worth their weight in gold to a project.
It's been a wild, educational & entertaining six months watching Season One of Plane Savers, I look forward to your next project!!!

Your next video should be about the current market value of DTD and what you plan to do with her. DTD is, of course, a priceless piece of aviation history, the history of WWII and the history of humanity's effort to bring into the world and defend freedom and liberty. It is critically important to save her for future generations to witness for themselves a tangible piece of that history.

Most of what needs to be said has already been said, but I would like to add one thing. When you get hooked on a show you normally find yourself rooting for your favourite, but honestly watching the end montage it was like, yea Trent was cool, Jay was fantastic, Pierre and his Lama obsession was great, Fred was like a nutty professor, William and Benjamin were great representatives of the future, Benoit was like the glue pulling it together, Stella was like the best advert for Duracell batteries, some of the other ENA crew I can't remember their names, Ronnie was determined from the start she would fly, Bobby was in it for the long haul, but had to duck out at the end for his family, Joe and Quin were like the gladiators coming in at the end.
But what I found was I didn't have a favourite, they were all in their own way the best and unique. What a great story to have to pass on to your friends, family and all the aviation community around the world!
And last of all Mikey, I found myself waiting for the next episode and the "PLAAAAANE SAVERRRRRRS" Chorus every day and it became like a motivation for everyone their and watching to see it through to the end. remember that was all down to you, so words are never enough at times like this, so I just want to tip my hat to you and all the crew!
Thanks for the best show I have actually watched from beginning to end in a long time!
PS, it seems like a long time ago i walked the old runways at Blakeshill Farm and made a few videos, thanks for including some of them in the early episodes, it makes it all feel much more real!
Cheers to all from the UK and safe landings to all aviators!

I am THRILLED to see the numbers and how well things worked out. Totally understanding that without the support it would have been a much more expensive adventure. I am proud to say I never missed an episode and watched each one as soon as they were posted. Yes I am an aviation enthusiast, especially the military history side. I have also built and covered a number of "kit aircraft" albeit ultra light. Kitfox, Malcolm Merlin GT's (3 of them) Tundra (2), Challenger I & 2 and T-Bird (2). I share that to say your accomplishments go way beyond the physical aircraft! You brought together people of ALL kinds of backgrounds and interests. The spin off's I imagine will go on for a very long time with you finding many lives were positively touched by Plane Savers. For me it also gave me something to focus on as I battle PTSD. It was thrilling to be able to "look forward" to each episode and it helped me a great deal. It was also a personal thing. My great uncle Eric Taylor flew gliders in WWII and took part with "G" Squadron for Operation Varsity. So with Plane Saver's renewing focus on DTD and her history...I was able to connect with family in England who were able to share his war record with me. Mikey. Thank you for that. My story is but a very small one, one of many I am sure. Being able to impact so many people all over the world...with OUT A HUGE PRODUCTION company, editors, etc. Having worked in Radio as an on air personality and responsible for the editing and audio of programs....yeah take a huge bow PLANE SAVERS TEAM! I think "Flightchops" summed it up best when he noted that you were doing this DAILY while being hands on for the other aspects involved. Wow. It STILL amazes me. Congrats to you all and thank you.

All the stars aligned to get this airplane saved. The confluence of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, a D-Day survivor aircraft, an individual, Mikey McBryan, with the vision, knowledge, ability to motivate and lead people, a big pile of very valuable D.C-3 parts, came together to make this happen. And in the end, it become more than just an airplane story. It was a people story. From the volunteers, the school ENA, everyone who contributed, watched and commented. This was all about real people, no ego's or prima donna entitlements. What a result. It has delighted people all around the World and got them clamouring for more.Great accomplishment, which everyone from Mikey, down to the dedicated RUclips/FaceBook plane enthusiast and everyone in between, it has been a fantastic collaboration. That montage of all the "hand's on" folks left me looking for a Kleenex. There has to be a continuation of some kind to follow, and in the meantime looking forward to the coverage from Oshkosh, where I'm sure the interest will be at an all time high, thanks to the presence of DTD in all her restored glory.

Mikey! I’m sitting here watching this with my wife Annie and applauding and crying. Plane Savers shouldn’t end just yet. Oshkosh is fine, there are a lot of Plane Savers fans that will be there. But, there is another venue that will probably have fans that weren’t able to make Oshkosh-Reno Air Races!!!! If DTD can’t make it, if some of the crew can make it, there will be shade, chairs, food and beverages available to the crew. Let me know if we can assist in some way. It was wonderful to see the pride and passion in everyone as they took this tired old aircraft and turned it back into the beautiful winged creature it is. I was eagerly looking forward everyday to the new upload, just to watch it's transformation. Thank you for what you and the whole crew accomplished.

Sadly I came into the Plane Savers journey a week after D-Day, so I did not get to experience it as it happened. However, I have since watched every single episode from the beginning, and have enjoyed it thoroughly. The work that goes into working on these old birds fascinates me, and I would like to thank you for taking us along. Very excited to see what season 2 brings!

Mikey that is an extraordinary enterprise, you and all your colleagues must be very proud of what you have achieved, not least of which is to bring so many people together in a worthwhile endeavour. I’m sorry I came to it late, it only landed in my RUclips feed when I was looking for videos of the D-Day Dakota flights over Normandy, so I binge watched the entire series after June 6. Thanks. 🇨🇦🇬🇧👍

The RUclips revenue really amazed me. A lot of people don't realize that RUclips takes a huge cut of your RUclips revenue. You only get something like 40 or 50% of the gross revenue that you generate. Yeah, RUclips's cut is pretty big. So for Mikey to bring in over 25,000$ on RUclips, his gross would have been over 50 grand. A big thank you goes out to all of you that watched the Advertisements and helped get him in the highest payout category for RUclips AdSense (or whatever it is called). He mentioned before that due to the majority of his viewers watching the complete ads and complete videos, even though they only had like 35K subscribers, they were paid as if they had circa 100,000 subscribers. Good jobs guys.

Thanks for the update. It was a great ride (zero to little turbulence!) and beautiful flight to see! Next time, try more home cooking (average person needs $500/month for food) and buy/rent a Bunn coffee maker (buy the tins of Tim's Coffee Grounds from Ukrainian Tire $16.97). SeaCans are cheap to buy ($4,800 for a 40 ft & moving is $3/mile), so consider a purchase if you're thinking of doing this more often. Finally, to each and everyone who watched the progress on RUclips, purchased merchandise, donated cash, and specially to ENA and the ALL THE VOLUNTEERS, A MILLION THANK YOU'S! Your time and effort will forever be attached to DTD! Cheers!

Mikey, there's a lot of people that are quite proud that you managed to pull this off. But I know that you Dad/Joe, Mom and Stella are fighting for the top spot. It took a great leader to do it and I cant think of one better than you. I doubt there will ever be a restoration/rescue team better than one with you up front and Uncle Ronnie covering your back. I really wish I could've been there but between health and family it just wasn't possible, but I did send a Paypal donation and faithfully clicked on your videos from day 1 and let the adds run daily from work, phone and the 2 IP's I have at home. I know it's not much but it sure did add up in the end. I bet you probably had some of the highest ad revenue per view out there and it'll be a LONG time before someone does better.

    YOU GOT THE NAME WRONG.
Yes Mikey. I know I am your weirdest fan. But you got the name of the series wrong.
As “thrown together” as the photo montage was (and I am an expert on thrown together) it reminded me of how much joy this series brought to so many lives, my own included. It was so good to see what I consider to be “my old friends” in so many defining (and humorous) moments of this journey.
And to you, Big Guy. Without you and the Golden Eagle (aka Stella) none of the other people would have been involved. Your passion was the AVGAS that propelled this dream off the runway (actually the taxiway) and into the air. You may not be the pilot your father is but you are every inch a legend in your own domain and we all owe you a debt of gratitude for not only having this vision but also bringing life to it.
So yeah. The name is wrong. And I don’t expect you to change it. But every single one of you that appeared in this production is a Plane Hero. I ain’t gonna list names. I can’t. I would miss twice as many as Mikey did.
You did a great thing in an era of mediocrity and laziness. Thanks for showing us what great results hard work and dedication and civility can bring to peoples lives.
    You are all the best.

All those fabulous people, not just friends, we love them like family. No egotists. just fantastic people, warm and friendly, but also skilled and hard working. Boy how I miss seeing them every day taking this project ever closer to completion.
Thank you Mikey for sharing with us the rebirth of DTD, and introducing your fantastic team to us all. The work that you put in to keep us up to speed with the blog must have been just insane, Thank You , Thank You , Thank You. @@cf6282 That he did CF, in the early stages I felt that it sounded a little childish, but as time went on, I enjoyed the whole crew chiming in when DTD was in the ENA hanger, and on June 6th, when the crowd let rip, I think that my vision blurred a bit. Greetings to you and all fellow enthusiasts from Tasmania, Australia.

  • @flyingbeaver57

Mikey, this whole video is amazing. I am pleased (and astonished) that the net imcome covered the cost outlay - the dollars, that is. I don't know how many times I was amazed by the sheer amount of drive, effort, dedication, time - call it what you will - of all of the volunteers, whether at St. Hubert or in Red Deer. There is no price that can be put on their contribution except one: it could never have been done without them. I wanted to follow Ronnie to St. Hubert, but some health issues that couldn't be delayed prevented me, and I feel like I've missed what might be one of the greatest experiences of a lifetime. I've written about how my Dad wrote in his diaries about he and his navigator taking their Mosquito night fighter off from England and over France, trying to help clear the way for the almost 1400 C-47's that flew during the night of June 5th/6th. I know he'd be very, very proud of what the Plane Savers crew have accomplished. You mentioned a lot of people who added their skills, time, and dedication to the project. I know Joe was very much in favour of rescuing this aircraft, and why, and I thank him. I don't know how you came to meet Stella, but I'm sure that her support, to you and to the project, was invaluable. But there's one person who put in heaven knows how many hours, not only coordinating the project, but making a video record of its progress and posting it to RUclips - daily - which must be some kind of a first for any restoration project, let alone one that rolled like this one, and that's you, Mikey McBryan. Thank you Mikey. Thank you for having the dream of making DTD fly again. Thank you for believing it could be done. Thank you for starting on a project that, by any standard, seemed unlikely to succeed in 156 days. Thank you for inspiring the many volunteers and the people who donated things, whether 8mm film or money or Tim's cards. Thank you for endless hours working with Transport Canada. Thank you for making us all believers in the success of Plane Savers, and for leading the way to the dream coming true. I watched the snapshots at the end, and remembered all of the "big days" all over again, and everyone who came and did whatever they could, because you had the dream as well as the knowledge and contacts and resources to bring it all together. It's been a great ride. Thank You.

The world is full of dreamers, but Mikey you are no dreamer. If you want something hard enough you'll achieve it, and you and all your supporters etc certainly proved that in spades. My Brother-in-law John (airline pilot) is flying out of Australia to attend Oskosh and I've told him all about 'DTD' and to look out for it. Switching on RUclips certainly won't be the same for a while! All the very best at Oskosh.

Mikey, the ending brought tears to my eyes. What an amazing ride through all of this. You know, I also have all the Ice Pilots episodes and just started to watch all of them again. I am enjoying them so much more this time around because Plane Savers has really gotten me to know all of you so much better, so much better than could ever be portrayed on a TV show.
