Get yourself an auger style drill bit, to do those feed holes, it has a screw point that will self feed into the stud- no more pushing on the drill, the bit will suck itself right into and through the wood, less effort.
Lydia I’m sure you are making your parents proud on all your home building skills! They raised a amazing woman. Jim you got yourself one hard working super woman!
As parents we are always hoping we are making the best decisions for our children. Letting our children observe and help with what we are doing sometimes slows us down but helps our children so much. Ladely, I noticed in a previous video already knows you need a screwdriver for screws. That is so impressive.
im slowly getting ALL of your vids watched and loving them, i gave you a reply to your question regarding my finger in your newest video, the wire drill template is pure genius
Fantastic JOB on that wiring for sure. That was so cute when your dad asked you: "well did you make your template"??? The look on your face was priceless. Most women would never do 90% of the work on a build that you have done for sure. God is Blessing you ALL!!!
@@CajunCountryLivin Yup Dad's are good at that for sure. My dad had SIX daugther's and he had his hands full when it came to walking each one of us down the aisle over the years as well as opening his checkbook and he loved every one of us for sure LOL
looking good Lydia Jim is lucky to have you .and most electricians here use Auger bits not them spade bits but keep up the good work your and amazing young lady.we sure missed Jim. what kind of work does he do and your young lady sure has a little Jim mischief in her lol have a great day from ontario Canada
The blue print ruler marker , you have made for leveling off for where all the wires goes is a good idea. I will keep that in mind for the future for my self. You all doing great.
Some wood spade bits are used to countersink washers, bolts or screw heads. Some, like the HERCULES brand, are designed to pull the bit through the wood. Thank you for detailing how the wiring is laid out from switch and outlet boxes in series, then to the panel.
An old trick for setting outlet boxes is to just set your hammer against the stud with the base of the handle on the floor. The box is set right above that. If you want to speed up the marking of the travel locations for the wires just snap a chalk line across the wall at the height you need. I use a laser for my lines. Just don't forget to add the protection plates later where the wires penetrate the studs. think of what a drywall screw would do going into a wire later on. Always wrap a layer or two of electrical tape around the boxes after you attach the wires. It protects the connections and helps prevent shorts. When you are done with each aspect of the utilities, remember to take pics of every wall so you can be reminded later where things were.
Lydia, you are one hell of a woman I do not know to many women who could have done the job you did of cause your supervisor was a very big help in between her nap times she is a very funny little girl and she is always smiling it is great to see happy children your husband is a very lucky man graham Thailand
You and the timer are so cute, and funny. Jim is a very lucky man and I am sure he knows it. Just a couple of things to watch out for. Box fill, you have to make sure that you don’t have to many wires in the box. You can google how to figure what is a good number. Just remember that the switch or receptacle that goes in that box takes up a fair amount of space. Not sure how it’s done there, but in Florida and Michigan they run two, two inch pvc pipes from the top of the panel into the attic. That way you can run all the branch feeders in the pipe and allows for future wiring to drop into the panel much easier.
How you do all that wiring and look after the INSPECTOR amazes me . Luv your videos and what your building. Not missed an episode since you started. Well done. Xxxx
Good job - I bet your dad is so proud of you as we all are - Jim you have one in a million wife - I know how much she helps you - you appreciate her so much - have a great weekend !!
Hi Lydia & Jim? Lydia I don't know what to say. Jim should be so proud of you. I know I am. I miss having him there too. When you two are working together I can't keep from laughing. I thought all the past things you've done by yourself were awesome. Then you come along and surprise me again with this electrical routing. And the you did it all with the little one running all over. And you did it all with that beautiful smile. At least for us😀 Can't wait to see what you do next Stay strong and safe
Thank you so much!! I sure missed him being here too! Thank goodness it’ll be US next week!! Always appreciate all the love & support! So glad to have you rooting for us & as part of the Cajun Family🐊
Way to go Lydia another fine job even with the inspector around lol, like the other comment electrical trades use a auger bit drilling the holes works real good for that ! Have a blessed weekend
Good job on getting that much wire ran. Glad the inspector was there to keep you on track. Looking forward to seeing the outlets being put in. There sure is a lot of stuff in house walls. great job.
Lydia...you did such a fantastic job this week. You are so energetic and the hog story was soooo funny! You two are doing such a great job. I love following your progress on this beautiful house you are building on your own. I would love the opportunity to do the same!! Have a great week!!!
Amazing job Lydia! The electrical work you are doing looks really good, well organized and thought out. Well done upgrading the service box. You will be glad you did later down the road. Keep up the Great work and Have a Great Weekend!!!!
Helpful comment: It is very tempting to wire all of the outlets in one room to the same circuit (breaker). While this may be ok for some bedrooms, if you don't plan on using window air conditioners. Other rooms, especially the kitchen should have multiple circuits. Since counter outlets need to be spaced no more than 4 feet apart they should be on separate circuits so that multiple appliances can be used at the same time without overloading a single circuit. It is also a good idea to put dedicated circuits for outlets intended for Microwave ovens or cook-tops /ranges, and garbage disposals. Also remember to use GFCI outlets or a GFCI circuit breaker for any outlets near a water source such as sinks. Arc fault breakers may be required depending on the code in your area. Lydia it was very smart of you to center the holes in the studs for the wiring. If you use 1-1/4" drywall screws this will prevent the screws from reaching the wires and you will not need to put protection plates where your wires are run through the wall. You will still need those plates for the plumbing though.
I really appreciate your cable management, so many just run the wire and don't secure it. Neat install and you know where the wires are🔌. Great job running the job site this week (with a 'little' help). It did look powerfully warm in there. 🥵 And a proper bit can save your whole day. Happy pigging 🐷
He sure will give me a run for my money 😁😬 haha nice to see you this week Ced! See you next week & you better tell Jim his pretty too. 😉 he’s a sensitive guy 😂
omg i'm going to be posting over and over on your todays post. but i found to go from the box to your plugs and switches. that way if you have to splice you can do it at the plug instead of at the breaker box.
What you did look really good. Jim is a lucky man wilt you. My brother in law say always to my ' you are very handy for a woman. And you are also very handy.
Bravo Lydia! Kicking butt! Pro-tip: your ceiling wires can just run over the joists. No need to drill or feed through the holes. No rooms above just attic means they are safe. Keep up the awesome work! Love your challenge and dedication.

Great job running electrical
We lost a roster to a hawk (we’re pretty sure) this week. Circle of life, but we are a little bit sad.
Amazing job with the electrical, Lydia.
🌟💜🌟
Helpful hint I found was to drill the holes before putting the walls together. Way faster and easier. Great job girl! Skip McCain
That would have definitely saved some time!
Great job Lydia!
Thanks Marc!!
Pretty neat to use your skills that you learn from your dad and Jerry I bet there so proud I can tell you pulled wire before nice job
They definitely help us along the way. We have learned a lot from them!

Great video Lydia
Great inspector u have Lydia
Thanks Kevin!
Lydia I’m sure you are making your parents proud on all your home building skills! They raised a amazing woman. Jim you got yourself one hard working super woman!
I always found it easier to start by pushing wire through top hole then complete homerun and not put in the switch box until done.
I did that once I got the hang of it too! A lot easier! 😁
Awesome job Lydia
Thanks!
Lydia you are one hard working lady, awesome job.
Thanks Donald!
Love your show this week . What a sweet little girl,
