I like that you randomise abilities and asign them to who you want but I think a fun idea at least for one vid is to use regular abilities but asign them to the pokemon you want, so if you have incineror you can give one mon on your team intimidate
I seriously appreciate whoever gave me the membership. I adore watching early Patterrz videos ❤ Also I’d personally prefer random abilities, it makes the videos so much more interesting
For abilities, I think if each person wants the regular ability on a Pokemon, they can have it IF their opponent also wants the regular ability on a Pokemon. Like if Dylan wants shadow shield on Lunala, he can only have it if Pat wants sheer force on Nidoking. So the number of Pokemon with their original abilities has to match, otherwise it's random
I think you should always be able to choose the normal ability for non-legendary pokemon. A bunch of normal pokemon really suck if they don't have their normal ability
A lot of channels went back to doing regular abilities and while its nice to see them back, the format with randomised abilities draft you use is a great middleground.
If I had a nickel for every time I've watched a series/video in 2024 where Dylan got locked out of Dragon types immediately, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice
I personally prefer it when theres restrictions on the ability. My favourite is probably normal, but I like the idea of being able to use all the abilities of the mons you get on anyone, so anyone on pats team could take magnet pull from his magazine for example
Hear me out: in the two-battle format, do one battle with the random drafted abilities and one battle with regular abilities. The rest of that mon's set doesn't change, so same moves and items.
I agree. Then, with the second battle, you can't strat really bc the abilities will be different. First battle do regular and randomize for the second battle. Surprises await for intense battles.
I think having the same random abilities across both teams if fun. Makes for a fun fight of catching the most broken abilities between the two battlers. Locking each other out of those abilities. Set a time limit on it and presto, new video idea.
I like the new way the random abilities are done, randomize a group of abilities and assign them to whom you like, makes for a better use of the abilities instead of being completely screwed over.
Idea: randomly pick your starter, keep their ability, but switch the pokemon to one of the same primary typing. For example, you pick Incineroar and get to keep Intimidate, but Incineroar is replacing with a completely randomly fire type pokemon.
New Video idea: Same catch rules as here where you lock a type out, but during the team-building process all pokemon caught are shared. If you use a pokemon you caught you can give it any ability; if you use a pokemon your opponent caught the ability has to be random.
I loved this video so much!! You should do a video similarly to RUclipsrs chose the pokemon but with subscribers instead!! You would pick the subscribers randomly and it would be a lot of fun
Hot take. You do a video where you catch Pokémon (however you decide to do that) but for the battles you have 1 battle where abilities are normal and one where they are randomized.
I think that if a pokemon has a gimmick ability but is basically unusable without it then keep it as the regular ability. Palafin, Mimikyu and Aegislash need their abilities incredibly badly as they're part of the design of these pokemon. So Azumarill may be awful without Huge Power it's still runnable and not usuable without it.
I don’t comment very much but genuinely I’ve been loving this series and watching the different challenges 😂 I’ve been binging you, vintendo, luke, shady, and a bunch of others, and the amount of effort and edits yall put into these videos is INSANE. You are an AMMMAAZING and a very kind poketuber pat, and fr you’re an inspiration to me to hopefully become a RUclipsr myself in the future. You’ve probably heard this a whole bunch before, but your videos are so entertaining, you’re doing great, and hopefully I can get a membership soon or at least get some merch from you to show my support! :) Been watching you for only a few months really but I can’t wait to see more vids in the future!
Type lockouts are always fun. I like both the normal ability and the randomized ability videos. I think which version is better depends on how well it works with the specific video’s gimmick.
I mean you guys do so many different battles with different rules and sometimes "any" moves (especially setup moves) that I feel like it's completely fair for Pat to not think twice about a Shell Smashing, Scalding Mamoswine.
I think two ways. I like the random abilities (Draft Style) for some of these videos. But if it leans itself into a more competitive game style, I love standard abilities.
What about a mix of both when it comes to abilities? You get the option to either keep its normal ability or roll the dice to try and get a better one, but you only have a limited number of both, like a choose your starter video where 3 pokemon get random abilities while the remaining 3 keep their normal abilities. And when you pick your starter you choose whether you randomize its ability or keep its regular ability
Just want to mention. That aura that can appear around pokemon in the overworld isn’t an indication for shiny pokemon. It just means that its a brilliant pokemon which can give you league points(I haven’t played sword and shield in a while so i don’t remember what the points were called).
On the ability thing. I like regular or random but the most fun is when the person in charge makes up the rule on the spot. Shady and Vinny do it pretty frequently
Thoughts for abilities: Randomize abilities, give abilities out, then flip coin to determine whether the pokemon keeps that or has to use standard abilities. Allows for pokemon like Azumarill to keep Huge Power, but also if you give Slaking Pixilate but then it gets reverted back to Truant, you can't give Pixelate to a different Pokémon.
I like the randomness and chaos that comes with random abilities, maybe what you could do is a video where someone picks if they're going to use normal or random abilities for a pokémon before turning around and seeing their options or something? I know some pokémon the ability is what makes them good, but also other pokémon would just be so much better if they had a different ability, so it's a real gamble if you pick normal abilities since you could get something like a Slaking or Regigigas that are OP without their regular abilities
Video idea: Our opponent chooses our Buffs and Nerfs, then we battle! 6 rounds of choosing starters but after every pick, your opponent selects from a list of 6 buffs and 6 nerfs, 1 buff and 1 nerf per pokemon. Can only use a buff or nerf once per player. Buffs are things along the lines of broken abilities like speed boost or huge power, any damaging move, any setup move, etc. Nerfs are along the lines of lowered IVs, lowered EVs, no item, bad abilities like Truant or Klutz, etc. Could lead to some really interesting mind games trying to find the buff that helps your opponent the least and the nerf that hinders them most, and some interesting teambuilding trying to work around these changes.
I prefer randomized abilities! It’s more fun and exciting. Especially for me as a spectator. If Dylan for example: uses a water type move on Patterz Charizard, and Charizard has water absorb. That will below everybodies mind! So randomized abilites is more, you don’t know what you are expecting 😁
I think what would be interesting, is both players choose a stat before the hunt, and if what you catch has an even number in said stat, you get randomized, and if its odd, you get its natural abillity. Add some RNG and betting into the mix
For abilities, you currently roll 10 times and then assign. give yourselves the option for regular ability & roll 2 less times for each ability kept. I always feel bad for Pokémon like mimikyu and azumarill. It doesn’t make Pokémon super broken to keep their own ability. Maybe you also have to warn your opponent before the battle, which is an even bigger disadvantage.
Maybe trying a gamble with abilities, being able to choose to keep or randomize your ability, would be cool Also up to you, but I'd be interested in watching other peoples then we fights that your in, if you shared them in the community tab
When it comes to randomized abilities I think it’s interesting to do both. What if the first match had normal abilities then for the second match, you randomized their abilities. That would bring in some new strategies and help mix up the matches more.
Just thought of a potential challenge/team challenge 🤔 What if you catch 12 pokemon that can breed with each other to get a team of 6 with the ♀️ pokemon being the main mon? Or do a half and half pick 6 starters and find another 6 to breed with them? Maybe take some things from the ♂️ like ability, move/s, maybe an extra duel type, etc. Or be limited to 1 of those per mon if needed. For stats, a slight boost and potential debuff if the ♂️ is really low in a stat or combine/mix stats maybe a SpA mon can be a Physical mon with the right parent or vice-versa.
And if u want to go the EXTRA mile slightly change the model like if it's just a slight color change or change the pokemons hair to match the ♂️ like it's slightly different from a fusion kinda like a variant for example if u breed a Muk & Gardevoir it's still a Ralts but you could change the green to purple or a Grimer/Muk & make it whi-
I like that you randomise abilities and asign them to who you want but I think a fun idea at least for one vid is to use regular abilities but asign them to the pokemon you want, so if you have incineror you can give one mon on your team intimidate
That seems like fun!

This would be a fun and interesting change!

I love it whenever someone falls for illusion it's always hilarious
I love when Illusion manages to confuse someone twice in one battle...it's rare, but I've seen it once or twice.
Pat falls for it every single video even when a move that is clearly not used by the visible Pokémon.
