Hope you enjoy the video guys... feel free to ask any questions you have :)
I sure wish I would have watched this video before I started saddle shopping for my new pony! I finally found a Thorowgood pony saddle that fits the little guy. My saddle fitter gave it a two thumbs up this morning!
Yes, I've been wondering about these saddle for my boy. Very helpful video as usual 😀
Happy to help!
This is exactly the saddle I have for my 13.1hh Connie X, it fits him great but I struggle with keeping my lower leg (5ft5) forward over jumps, think I need to find a longer skirted one 🤔
Ah, it might be worth trying a long legged version!
This was really interesting and so helpful, thank you Poppy. I've been wondering about a Kent and Masters Pony Club Long Leg for my new fat ( we're working on that!!) baby cob as he seems pretty short on space for a saddle but I've got reasonably long legs 🙈 I shall now keep my fingers crossed that the saddler has one in stock when she comes to see us and it works for him!
Thank you so much, yes, defo try the long legged version, they're fab for those long legged riders!
Polly could you please do a video talking about the differences between GP, VSS,VSD and dressage. I’m learning so much from you.
That is a FABULOUS idea for a video! Thank you
Poppy. I bought a K&M pony club saddle for my 9 year olds 13.3hh Welshie a couple of years ago. She has had a huge growth spurt in that time and is now a leggy (womanly 😩) 12yo. Her position lately has gone a bit unbalanced and I wonder if it could be that she needs the king leg version. Do you think the smaller saddle could play a part? TIA
I have the synthetic version of Kent & Master's (Thorowgood) and I really like it, also has the same girthing options. I have the compact model for my short back arab and it fits him nicely. Although not sure if this is normal, but when I go on long trail rides (like 20km) with a mix of walking, trotting, and cantering, the rise of the pommel hurts (where the twist is).
Otherwise the saddle is really comfortable when I do arena work and shorter rides.
Haha, I love your user name! It's worth speaking to your fitter about that, as it's not unusual and can indicate the saddle is a little out of balance... or, it might just be the way the saddle fits you. In which case you could try an Acavallo Seat Saver - ruclips.net/video/hfOcF-MYJLA/видео.html
Have you done anything on cub saddles for very small ponies?
