I used to watch the trilogy in a loop when I was little. Me and my uncle, who’s unfortunately not with us anymore, would spend days watching it ✨. And where am I now? 10 years apart, making dresses inspired from the musical and the trilogy 🌿

Thanks so much! I fell in love with Sissi in perhaps the second movie - when it was new. (Not sure that I saw the first, as that was more than 60 years ago!) Having auburn hair then myself, I longed to grow mine down to my waist! Alas, my hair did not cooperate! :) What a sad end to her life!
Romy Schneider was a beautiful being...she was perfect to play the role of Sissi along with Karlheinz Boehm as Kaiser Franz Joseph. Her mother-in-law was a piece of work. They were both asked to make a 4th movie but declined.
Incredible costumes.Because of them, and gorgeous Romy I can watch these movies over and over again. I have been in Vienna and saw some original dresses and I visited Schònbrunn castle and others of her and I stood in front of Sissy's coffin. It was very touching. Anyone should visit Vienna at least once in a live time. It is the most beautiful and livable city in the world. At least it was before Covid and the draconic if rules.
I watched these movies many times when I was a teenager in China, fell in love with Sissi and Romy. So when I came to the US, finished college, found a good job, saved enough money for a trip to Europe, I made sure to visit Vienna and the palaces she lived in. I came back with a bag full of Sissi souvenirs and beautiful memories.

I don't like that the hoops show through on so many of the dresses in this montage; an extra petticoat or two might have concealed the hoops better. Also, why is she constantly gripping on to the hoops of her skirts? It happens in so many of the clips, even when she's not going up stairs or a slope or anything. The general look and style, though? Great! It creates an image, a mirage... And it's beautiful! (Even if, as you say, it's not historically accurate. But I guess this was never intended as a scholarly project, but as a beautifully entertaining fairy tale of sorts - we can always go elsewhere for historical details.)

My grandmother made her seamstress watch the movie I don't know how many times so she could marry in an exact copy of Sissi's wedding gown. The dress is still somewhere in the basement, inside one of the many huge trunks they brought when they had to leave Africa and return to Europe, and apparently they never opened many of them. Now that I think about it, I wonder what else is in those trunks. I wonder if the dress is in good condition.

She looks like an angel. The costumes look so royal, sophisticated and magical. I'll be forever in love with these three movies.
