Very delightful
George Olsen was so popular in the roaring '20's. One of the top dance bands from this era. I love it, beautiful and great music.
Very pleasing
Хорошая коллекция у вас.
One of my favorite Olsen records. The sax section really stands out on this one, esp. the wonderful lead alto player, and the tempo is nice and upbeat as well.
You're doing a great job on those playlists -- thanks for including my posts.

Thankss for Posting.
Wonerful- great sound-like being in the dance hall. Olsen defines '20's music for me, and he'll be on any desert island list I would make up.
@teebeesea ,Fred McMurray was in the sax section on this tune and "I'm On A Diet Of Love".
@chkjns ,You're doing a great job."Mona" has that great late 20s sound.
thlanks again.
Cheerful melodies
Recorded on November 24, 1929.
Aw shucks, i love Fran Frey! His "monotone" is what makes Olsen's records so enjoyable and evocative of their time. Fran fans should check out his vocal on "katinka". Wonderful!
What are you using for a turntable here? Curious to know your stylus size & type, as well as what EQ you're using. This sounds excellent, very low noise floor here. I LOVE George Olsen's band! I use a Stanton 500 with the 2.7 mil tip, good for most decent 78s, but the beat-up ones require something more that I don't yet have
The video for "Diet of Love" is already created, and will post in two weeks.
great better then ted weemsi think
Olsen's was a nice straight forward orchestra nothing to get excited about at least in the 20's But Fran Frey is just awful. Basically a monotone who sings slightly off key. He totally ruins Benny Krueger's recordings of "Sing A New Song", "Come On And Sit Beside The Sea", and "I'm So In Love".
I always enjoy Olsens records, but I'm not sure HOW Fran got his bookings... he's always off! And not in a nice deliberate ironic way, if that even exists... Maybe he had sexual allure? But for who, we ask? There's a vocalist on some British band records who's always off-key too, plus a wobbly vibrato. Always on Bidgood's records... Not Cavan O'Connor, maybe Ramon Newton or was it Bobby Sanders? Yes, it's Bobby... just checked.
