To prevent paint bleed when using masking tape - I'll use the skirt as an example. Paint your part pink, then add the tape on top, before adding the white - add either more pink or a clear coat. This will effectively "seal" the tape and paint so that any layers after can't get under. Hope this helps 🤘
@@alexsamuel3372 Kinda. Basically apply your base color(pink) then put your tape. Then, on the areas that are going to be white, apply your pink / clear again before you do the white. The pink / clear should be on top of the original pink and also be touching the tape - this way it seals the pink to pink and anything applied on top shouldn't go under the tape anymore.

I'm only 3 minutes in but I thought I'd comment this quickly. I build and paint a lot of types of models like gunpla, figurise and minis for dnd and warhammer. A really good tip I learned from using degreaser to strip paint off of models is to use a ultrasonic cleaner but they're kinda pricey for bigger models so the next best thing I find instead of using a toothbrush is to use a cheap electric toothbrush! Works wonders for me!
it looks amazing! i love how you always make their bases so dynamic and suiting the character! it makes me wanna try out painting garage kits so bad. also, i had to rewatch the chronicles of narnia also for a class recently and i never realized its an allegory for the bible LMAO idk why but i feel like thats so strange?? but its so obvious to me now too
Wow, looks great! I really appreciate the paint thinner tip- here I was thinking I'd have to wait and get an airbrush if I wanted to have a nice, smooth paintjob. Your method is a lot more accessible even if it requires more patience in equal measure!
Another banger vid as always. You should consider streaming on here or twitch. Just something I would personally love to see. Keep up the sick work! :D

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I appreciate your creative endeavors. Your work always manages to inspire and move me in ways that I can't even fully put into words. It's clear that you put a lot of love and passion into everything you do, and it shows in the final product. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world and for bringing so much joy and beauty into my life.
Do you use any varnishes? For example, in order to make eyes glossy? If yes, what varnish do you usually use? Do you apply with an airbrush or just with a regular brush?
I mean, I might be a little late, looking at the video's date... But have you ever thought of resin 3D printing? Because that way you'd have access to pretty much every figure you'd want to have. There are some that, as you said, were limited, but there's probably a 3D artist who could help with it (paid artists, of course), unless you have experience in 3D modeling. In any case, great job, looks awesome c:
Not related but i literally LOVE ur makeup omg we're gonna need a tutorial... Also you're the one who made that Mcdonald's miku?!!! I swear i've seen her before!!
I used to be against recasts, as I really do dislike art theft, especially from small artists. However, as someone from the States, you cannot buy garage kits directly from sellers without paying for shipping them halfway across the world, that's if you can even find one. You can find them second hand, but they are very, very expensive. I feel as if you live in the west, your only real choice is to use recast sites. I wish I had the money and knowledge though to buy real ones.
OOO I would love to do that soon! There are a couple figures that I do plan on making from scratch so we will see! I really wanted to remake my mob figure or even make some Powerpuff girl z figures!
This is an awesome paint job and a really helpful video!! What do you use to pack your finished kits in order to keep them from breaking? I'm moving soon and need tips lol
another place to get garage kits is mandarake! downside is that shipping gets expensive and shipping can take a while depending on where you live, but it's always great to check in on manda everyday to see what they have, and they can be really cheap too! hope this helps anyone lol C:
3:38 Ah yes E2046 I remember that site I didn't know at the time the website was infamous because all I wanted was a Mayura figure that I never ended up getting. ; - ; Thankfully my dad manage to get his money back from that whole thing.
this is soe kyotee!! i was wonderin if the rodding is necessary or could you just super glue the pieces? i don't have a drimal tool and before i spend the money i jus wanted to kno! ^-^
The pegs are necessary for large pieces like the limbs and hair! super glue will not hold them well because most kits come in dynamic poses, so gravity will do her think. so I wouldn't get a kit unless it's very small and simple as the pegs really hold a kit together :D
Thank you for the new video! I sell a lot of products to Hasbro Studios for their prototype figures. The sculptors and Artists like them because they work very well for the sculpting and detail process of prepping the figures . I can send you some samples - let me know if interested. Happy New Year!
…..you have to drill your own holes to assemble it!?! I’m learning a lot because I never bought a garage kit before, but my impression was that the only thing you have to do other than assembling it was to paint it, I didn’t know you had to drill and use putty!!
Yes! theres so much work in the prepping stage of a kit, it why i prefer just sculpting figures instead but Garage kits are definitely worth it for the end product!
4:40 Warhammer models or retro video games for that matter, have the same problem. And while recasting is pretty scummy from a ethical standpoint, it is in my opinion a necessary evil. Hopefully with 3D printing becoming steadily more plug and play everyone will always have some way to pay the artist for a product. Also, if you hate pinning with a drill, consider buying a "wowstick". Unfortunate naming aside, as it honestly sounds like a magic wand spin-off, it is basically a hand drill the size and shape of a pen. Guy from Midwinter minis used it to pin his Warhammer titan which is made from some pretty tough resin. It'll probably be perfect for garage kits!
yes! it helps the paint be thin and lay on flat but you have to commit to multiple layers of paint! Its worth it the end though because the paint job will be very smooth!
Please tell me where I can buy disassembled resin figures? No matter how much I looked for figures in disassembled form, the majority of figures are sold whole, which is not very convenient for me as a beginner. If it’s a small scale, then a solid figure is good, I’m interested in figures on a large scale, but there are few of them disassembled….
Hello Evelyn, my name is Javier and I would like to ask you a favor, I saw your video of Izumi Kotana and my question is, on which website or place did you buy your garage Kit? I don't have Instagram, only Facebook and I understand that you commented that it could only be consulted on Instagram, can you help me? Thank you very much in advance and greetings from Mexico
Can I ask? Why do you pin a figure? Why not just use putty, superglue and other materials to just glue it together I’m genuinely asking as someone who wants to start
it’ll keep the figure MUCH more stable, for example, if it falls, it won’t fall apart, but with just superglue it might. people also use magnets for even more strength
@@oddity404 to answer my own question from eons by, yes you can make a pinless kit with uhu glue but uh, it needs to be a modern kit with tabs as the reason you add pins is because most kits dont have connection keys, don’t use superglue rlly as it’s expensive but uhu is like £2 and very strong with the combo of your connection keys, also small thing tama didn’t say. Use a hand drill the small ones, you don’t need to use a massive electrical drill, 2mm aluminium wire for normal bits and for floating kits with one leg up use 3mm aluminium, it’s easier to cut and durable as hell.
Usually you don't really need a dedicated thinner if you're working with water-based acrylics (like craft paints or vallejo-brand paints) and just some water would work.
