Done this recently and saw an old couple skinny dipping in the tarn, when we met them at top of nan Bield my mate pointed at Kentmere reservoir and said I suppose your gonna swim that one too. They were a bit embarrassed!
Awesome crash mate. Well done 😂 Shame the bike broke. But at least you didn’t. Very enjoyable watch. And a nice long one. Sometimes they need to be On such a good ride. As you don’t wanna delete stuff out. I’ll be up there doing my version of it when the hot summer is upon us 😁
Haha thanks. Crash was totally rider-error! Yeah there was so much good footage I didn't want to cut too much. Its an epic so wortg it. Sure you will enjoy, particularly big day if you are also adding Garburn!
@@Lakedistrictrider I did not manage to keep it upright! Had 2 offs. One coming down Gatesgarth pass and one pretty much where you came off. Gatesgarth pass is just so loose its hard to control speed and I ran out of talent. I usually ride trail centres so this was something new. Been watching a few of your videos - love the channel.
@@bravehartley about as far from a trail centre experience as you can get isn't it? I like a good blast around a trail centre but much prefer getting out onto the hills on 'natural' stuff. Hope you and the bike are okay and glad you are enjoying the channel. 👍
Thank you for the interesting footage (as usual)! The crash looks horrible, but what exactly happened? Did the trail give in under the front tyre and wash-out?
I think (happened v quickly) I was trying to adjust the suspension and hit a bump while my grip on the bars wasn't the best. Bar just popped out of my hand and down I went.
Thanks, glad you like them. I am a bit of an intermittant Strava user so don't always record routes. Most of the routes I would recommend are in the two guidebooks I wrote for the Lakes and also the Dales 😉
No mate. Should be able to find it online quite easily though as its a bit of a classic. From Kentmere Green Quarter head over to Sadgill in Longsleddale. Up the top of the valley to cross Gatesgarth Pass then drop to car park at Haweswater. Turn immediately left to start climb to Nan Bield. Hike a bike to the top then long descent all the way back into Kentmere valley. Big quality day out.

Greta vid showing the full ride, cheers
Cheers mate
That is an absolutely stunning route and that was a heck of a crash! Great vid Mate. 👍
Yeah it is a bit of a classic. Cracking descents - if you stay upright!

I took my thumb off the bar to check the suspension was open and simultaniously hit a bump. My hand wasn't properly gripping the bar and down I went 😀
I did this route after watching your video - man it was tough.
Yeah its a big day out mate. Hope you had a good day for it and managed to keep upright, unlike me!

Hi - really enjoy your videos, wondered if you were on Strava so I can steal your routes?

Is it possible to not have to drop down to Haweswater & keep the height to save the big carry up to Nan Bield?
Possible by going over Harter Fell, though it is a footpath.
Looks like you had a great ride, shame about your dropper, great vid 👍
Thanks mate, yeah it was a great ride. Dropper post should hopefully be sorted soon 😀
Is this route in your book?

@@Lakedistrictrider brilliant thanks. I'll order the book anyways. I am heading up there this weekend!
Nice one mate, hope you enjoy it and have a great trip!
