Democracy Now! producer John Hamilton reports from Minneapolis, where residents say ICE agents are violently targeting legal observers and community members as part of the Trump administration's crackdown on immigrants. Patty O'Keefe, who was arrested while monitoring ICE activity in her vehicle, said agents "broke our two front windows and dragged us out," then taunted her in custody. She said one agent told her, "You guys got to stop obstructing us. That's why that lesbian bitch is dead," referring to Renee Good, the mother of three shot dead earlier this month by an ICE agent.
Indigenous residents have also been detained. "Nobody is more American than the American Indian," Oglala Sioux attorney Chase Iron Eyes told Democracy Now!, adding ICE's actions against Native Americans are "a legal impossibility."
This comes as the Pentagon has placed 1,500 soldiers on standby for a possible deployment to Minnesota, just days after President Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act. The Trump administration has also reportedly opened criminal investigations into Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, all while declining to investigate Good's killing.

I have no papers to prove I am a US citizen, because my drivers license expired and foolishly I lost it. Since I can not drive nor can I get a licence because of my disability. I imagine I would probably be in jail IF I were ever stopped. I was never a veteran though I went through the draft during the Vietnam Era. Even though you can't drive, you are allowed to get a Michigan State ID. I am also disabled (blind) and in Michigan and i have a state ID. So after saying that, I agree with what you are saying. It seems that they don't care if you have ID or not. These ICE crimminals have lost their humanity which is most likely why they were hired for these jobs in the first place. 2) If you think the left wing are doxing and present a bigger threat to individuals than the right wing, you're delusional. The left show up with signs and whistles. The right show up with guns.
3) ICE agents are literally scanning people's faces and showing up at people's homes. They're breaking down doors, smashing cars, beating and killing people that are using their legal right to protest. What you're afraid of is happening, just not to ICE agents. That you find it more pressing to care about ICE's safety than the communities they're destroying says a lot about you.
4) Even if you only care about ICE, the masks are directly impacting the safety of their agents. If you don't have ID and you're masked, then when you break into someone's house, they can't be expected to know that you are who you say you are. Meaning they can shoot you in self defense.
5) To further elaborate, imagine if criminals started dressing as ICE agents. They could literally break into your house in broad daylight, kidnap you and loot your house and no one would react, for fear of ICE and the government. Would you dare defend your home in that scenario?
Defending this practice, or ICE actions in general, is irrational. You're being a stooge. I suggest you take a hard look in the mirror and use some time to self-reflect.
