Thank you for this video. I’m 49 and being as stubborn as I am, it has taken nearly my entire life to come to this very same conclusion that you outlined here. I’m new to Buddhism, but Jodo Shinshu has by far resonated the most with me.
And from what I understand, in this age of Dharma decline, there is no one alive with the karmic wherewithal or ability to achieve realization/Enlightenment by themselves. Thank Goodness for Amitabha Buddha. Namo Amida Bu. Gassho.
Each world you speak resonates in me, in the deepest part of me. Our journeys seem so similar ! Your voice and your smile of peace so sincere ! Thank you so much ! Namo Amida Butsu .
You are somewhat distorting Ramana's teachings. However, yes, he said surrender is a path. But is "complete" surrender really easier than self-inquiry? Also, the two are not contradictory or exclusive. Self-inquiry leads to surrender. In China there were temples where both Chan (zen) and Pureland were practiced
How am I distorting his teachings? He said, "There are only two ways to overcome suffering. EITHER, inquire into the source of suffering and find out it does not exist or admit your inability that you need a higher power." When speaking of surrender he said to take on the attitude, "The ONLY means of safety for me is throw myself COMPLETELY at Your Feet, Oh Lord." Those are direct quotes, if you don't like them, take it up with Ramana! :) And no, I don't see inquiry or surrender as exclusive. However to practice either you need to do it whole heartifly, in the moment.

Yep....same here. The human ego and monkey mind can't liberate themselves. And, that is where most of us are at this point in life.
