Love the new upgrade especially how you can start by double tapping rather than pushing, that is a game changer.
Got my 13 yo son's SmartDrive MX2+ in today. Can't wait for him to test drive it this weekend. It's gonna make things so much better. Independence!!
IVE HAD MY SMARTDRIVE MX2+ FOR A WHILE NOW AND LOVE IT, BEWARE Though if you are near a wall etc and you accidentially go forward and hit a wall or anything the smartdrive WILL push you into that object very hard, My opinion is smartdrive should have a sensor built in which disengages smartdrive when pressure reaches a certain limit
dennis gammon that same pressure when you didn’t operate the system correctly and it ran into the wall and SCARED you is less than what you meed going up hill. Gotta be smarter than the tool.
I agree, once I got mine, There were times when I should have turned off the smart drive while looking at things. Then turn it back on when I was ready to go. I now am much better using it. No longer am I running into walls, or other things.

Just sent my MX2 to get it upgraded. My insurance covered the cost. This click and start back moving is a huge, huge upgrade. That was the only complaint about the MX2 was that when you stopped, every time you stopped you had to push to get it going again. It is so much better than a clunky power chair. I can take it with me to the grocery store easily. My wheelchair lift pulls my wheelchair in the van and then I put the unit right behind my driver's seat. Perfect! Can't wait to get the upgrade. It was 425.00. They pay for the shipping to send the new unit back.

I ordered my MX2+ before I knew about the upgrade. I have the original MX2. I plan on selling the old one if anyone is interested. You can upgrade it for under $500. Mine also has the thumb buttons. Im not looking to make any profit, just recoup a little of what I spent for the plus version, as I didn't care to go thru my insurance due to red tape and delays. My plus is arriving this Monday and I can hardly wait!!!

I have this Smart Drive MX2 Plus, and it is Awesome!!!, oh high, that thing moves fast! IF anyone has supplemental insurance, with Medicare, you can get one. I think you would have to pay some money, but its not nearly as high as having to buy one yourself.

How are they able to keep their hands horizontal? If I lift the arm that the pushtracker is on up for more than 30 seconds the drive disengages...Annoying as hell.
Got my SmartDrive about 3 Months ago was happy until went on the GOLF COURSE, 1st time going the fairway grass which as we know is like going on a carpet well the chair only 13 holes for me meaning I had to grab on the back of a GOLF CART to FINISH THE ROUND!!!!!! 2nd time stayed on the GOLF COURSE PAYVMENT only 17 holes which means that I had to push my chair the rest of the way. I am VERY UPSET

My daughter's drove her in the wall. Wouldn't stop. Took it in to NuMotion. They said they fixed it. Today, it drove her into a wall, causing a foot injury.
It takes a lot of practice. Like in a huge parking lot. I know my original push tracker arm band was a bad one, and started going too fast. But I was sent the upgrade model, and it is better, Once you double click, a simple double tap and quickly tap once, and the smart drive will move extremely slow. I hope this helps.

Thank you, THANK YOU for offering an upgrade path! I've been wanting to add the wired push buttons to the MX2 for awhile - just for the push button start. It's nearly impossible to get going with something in one of your hands. This is definitely a game changer! The upgrade is a much more reasonable prospect than having to buy again from scratch. I'm really happy to hear that you've made the new MX2+ compatible with the MX2.

I just got my Smartdrive MX2 last year in November. What are the details for a upgrade? I am from germany.
We do offer an Upgrade option for the MX2 to bring it up to the MX2+, which allows you to use the PushTracker instead of the MX2 wristband. I love the upgrade. Too bad it is still does not assist with slowing down when going down hills.
Ally Abbott put brakes on the chair. There’s no down pressure capability for braking it on a pivot.

I just got a MMX 2 but the wrist band is different than in the video.
I'm having trouble with it connecting to the Power Drive, or it understanding the messages between double and single taps.
The wristband you have is the old one it doesn't work the same way. You push to start the motor and then put your hand with your wristband down to your handrim as if you're going to break to initiate it to stop the motor

Is there a weight limit in regards to the person in the chair?
I imagine a person who is light weight, would get more distance on a full charge, as compared to a more heavy person, less distance. I weight 170LBS, and I can use mine all day like at a fair, and my smart drive has plenty of power left. Only the Push Tracker arm band get used up. But I turned mine of frequently, and this helped the power last all day long. It is wonderful. My life has changed so much with my Smart Drive MX2 plus!
It is an abuse the price of this gadget, the manufacture of this device does not have a cost so high as to have a high impact on the sale price to the people who really need it. It is a shame that they make such a huge profit from people's illness. This would have to have a moderate price since as I said before the manufacturing does not cost as much as to raise the price so much.
My new TiLite wheelchair, cost very close to this device. But if you have medicare, you can get most of the price paid for. And you only have to come up with some. I am not sure about the amount. I purchased my Smart Drive MX2 plus.
I doubt profit is so much as there is not such a high turnover/demand. Maybe insurance will help.
Since the product is not mass produced, even thought it only cost $3,000 to make, they still have customer support, running a company, and even research and development costs. And since unlike smartphones, not everyone buys one, they can't sell enough to make a profit.

Scott Gourley from what one of their folks told me they had to charge a pretty hefty price ($4,000+) in order to get Medicare to contract it as motorized mobility device. But don't quote me on that. Basically what you have to pay that Medicare won't pay is roughly the cost it should honestly be retail. The result in, my opinion, has been phenomenal customer support. Free, fast shipping and repair when needed replacement parts etc. however I got mine as a veteran through the VA so my experience may not be the same for a non vet. There may be aspects behind the scenes that I'm not aware of.
Best thing to do is contact max mobility directly. Their good people and won't do you wrong.

It doesn't work on loose ground like in the video. Extremely unreliable. Expensive to maintain. Might be ok for light indoor use only.

What is the justification for a cost 10X more than a ultra high end able bodied persons two wheel electric scooter with less range??? this is basically the same device with only one wheel and a wireless interface and that justifies $5400 more?? Come on, just because i am in a chair does not me i do not know when i am getting ripped off.......
It’s not all profit gouging, for Legitimacy as a “approved medical device” that American insurance and Medicare will pay for is a expensive and time consuming Bureaucratic nightmare. And as a niche market (only a small percentage of an already small percentage that use wheelchairs, will use these) these devices might sell 5000 to maybe 10,000 a year. So all the research and development costs plus a lack of scale efficiency in manufacturing. Are all small things that can add up very quickly on the final price tag.

If you have no strength in your arms/hands you will not be able to stop this on slopes I know, my OTs never thought to test me on slopes, it was fear inducing hahaha

1:54 her foot raced is way too high so more pressure on her butt than an even distributed force on her legs + butt. ergo: she needs a new chair that fits her
I HATE the MX2+! I am a small woman, the wrist watch didn't fit. I couldn't control it. The "switch" option was just as dumb. It is too heavy for someone with muscle atrophy. It didn't do anything but cost too much. I never needed a smart watch. I loved the original smartdrive. This one is horrible.
This video is the very definition of FALSE ADVERTISING.
It is my opinion someone should bring a class action lawsuit against you ASAP, because this is totally misleading in regard to how it actually performs.
