Yes 13 year old Amira banging out real opera. The second aria in a few minutes. She'd just sung Nessun Dorma, solo, then Corlea Botha joined her for this one. It's by Delibes, the opera is Lakme. Amira is singing the part of Princess Lakme, Corlea, her hand maid. They are contemplating a boat trip on a river as Lakme is rather stressed. They describe the beautiful flowers, the dense jasmine over head, the birds singing so charmingly in the dense canopy.. it's all in French, another language Amira sings but isn't fluent in. She is certainly fluent in music though. The way they harmonise so well together, it can't be better. Thanks for posting. Always a delight.
Great reaction, Chadeo! Corlea Botha is an excellent mezzo-soprano, but this aria requires the mezzo to sing in a very restrained manner. Amira once again shows her bell-like precision in sustaining the notes. Amira's precision, her always impeccable rhythm and the naturalness of her voice are unique. No soprano comes close.

Amira sang Amazing Grace at the same South African concert. She also sang, possibly her best, Nessun Dorma at this concert.
