Impossible CLIMB - Experimental Lego Vehicles

- In this video, I will show you how to make a Lego vehicle that can climb off-road slopes. I will start by building a simple vehicle and then test it on a 20° slope. I will then make modifications to the vehicle to improve its climbing ability, such as adding better tires, lowering the center of gravity, and lengthening the wheelbase. I will continue to test the vehicle on steeper and steeper slopes until I reach the limit of its climbing ability.

Not only is backward driving legal, it is a common technique used by off roaders.
Thank you, I can't sleep for the last week because of this 😢
Thanks you
Thanks for watching

For the tracked vehicles, you need to have gears pressing down in the middle of the belt too.
yeah actual tracked vehicles have a roller in the middle to keep the track straight, i think that would help in this test to keep the weight evenly distributed
I also noticed it suffer due to a complete lack of weight distribution
also a tentioner would be great i think.( it looked a little too floppy 😅)
yeah For tracked vehicles, it's essential to integrate gears pressing down on the middle of the belt for optimal functionality.
And i think the track was too lose
I feel like a longer version of Track-and-rola would do better, especially with road wheels to keep the track flat with the ground. You could clearly see the track in the current design not properly aplying presure in to the ground.

My vote is definitely for Track-N-Rolla, but would love to see a projectile+winch based “sled”!
First😊
I gotta agree
Track and rolla is actually digging through all "terrain" and reaches and grips on to the material underneath, while all other cars grip is based purely on the artificial terrain, it is not particulary fair tbh.
this is genius.
😀😀
Please try this! I think a vehicle with almost comically long tracks will actually perform very well. The biggest obsticle is either that the wheels simply dig in the "dirt" instead of making the vehicle move forward OR it tips over. I think really really long tracks will solve both problems, since with tracks that are say 3-4 times as long as the vehicle itself it gets a LOT of surface area, which counteracts the digging that wheels tend to do, and because of the length and center of mass it wont really tip over.
Amazing idea 👍 Thank you 🙂
@@DrEngine youre very welcome! :D feel free to include a screenshot of my comment in your video if you want to
did you really went piece by piece 💀 instead of using a blender?
The real difficulty is not only the slope, but also the looseness of the road. I wonder whether there is any vehicle that can overcome it.
Track-N-Rolla was the only one that made it to the impossible 25 degree angle climb so Track-N-Rolla
You should try the new track pieces from the 42131, and maybe some inspiration from that model's track tensioning mechanism too.
on the tracked machine, the only way to make it work as intended is to attach a series of rollers to the bottom of the frame, maybe your typical tire to stretch out the track to make it flat, without this, there wont be any weight dispersion and your tracks wont have any flotation, in short, think of a tank, or a bulldozer. hope this helps
Several of those designs took advantage of the retaining batons under the surface of the cork chips, therefore their climbing abilities are invalid because they took advantage of tractive assistance the other designs didn't use.
I do have to agree here
Çok teşekkürler eğlenceli videolar
Can u include some examples?
Old Ford model A’s you would sometimes have to drive them backwards uphill because their gravity, fed fuel tanks would not allow for proper fuel flow past a certain degree
Thank you for such videos, you are doing a great job! It inspires to do something out of Lego)
Happy to hear that! Thank you for watching!
The creativity in your Lego MOCs is inspiring.
You should have given the tracked one road wheels in bettween the sprockets to it could even out more preasure
Nice suggestion, thank you
DrEngine please tension your chains/track more. It will mean there is less slip like with the tracked vehicle.
Nice suggestion ☺️ Thanks a lot 👍 May the force be with you
Your work is honestly underrated. It is amazing to see your efforts not only in the builds and recording but also the editing overall. It just adds so much attention to detail 😄
Thank you very much! It was fun to make!
OFF-ROADER ROLLER!!!
I guess its just better!
Can't wait to see the Stilts-o-Matic catch on and start tearing it up in the next rally championship.
What do you want?
Dr engine: Wheeels baby Wheeeels!
Brilliant. What fun! Now I must get back to building serious GBC's...
So long to make the test road….
I feel you are making lego to the max
😮😮😮30 hours? With a "Shredder" you could do it in 1 hour 😎
P.S. I vote for "Shredder"
5:10 "3 is greater than 2..." Yes.
The idea of building such vehicles and competing with my friends came to my mind. I'd like to do this sometime. :)
The tracked vehicle requires rollers. These rollers actually carry the weight of the vehicle, and thus spread the load across a larger part of the tracks, and thus the ground, which is what you want.
A longer wheelbase tracked vehicle with bogey wheels midspan in the tracks between the two end sprockets would help with lowering the ground pressure, and it won't flip as readily.
Maybe try a stepper? With big snowshoe type feet. The more surface area on the loose cork the better.
I love how each stage RELIABLY failed :D
Track-N-Rolla could win but the track was too loose and didnt provide enough traction. If you gave it and idler wheel it would have greater traction and would have climbed it with no issue. 60 % of the track didnt even touch the ground😢
Love it so so so so much I thought nobody would make these videos please make more
Glad you like it 😊
I don't know by what i'm suppose to be impress, your designs ideas or your ability to pick up some awesome names for it 😂
Should have done a lego experiment that makes off-road climbing tracks lol
Just brilliant!!! What a nice video enjoyed to watch.
Thank you! Cheers!
for the "track-n-rolla" the tracks are waay too loose. they need to be tighter, but not too tight.
One would imagine Sisyphus happy
Liliputhian leviathan is like john deere tree declimber and its The best
The speedy was unarguably performing the best of all
Very interesting and exciting video, I liked it 🤗
Thank you for watching ☺️
Names styled like in Carmageddon... Vehicles should climb on Lego minifigure bodies 👹😱
nano crawler ontop!
With a tractor like the Shredder you can do some serious uphill gardening.
I think the ''Nano crawler would have passed the 10 degree hill, if it wasnt for the ancor dragging while it was getting stuck.. I think that one was the cutest of the all 🙂
Glad you like it!
Track-N-Rolla was voted #1 here
Maybe try making it as low as possible and weight at far front as possible. Long tracks will aslo help i think.
My vote is Track-N-Rolla.İ LOVE İT
From the start all you would of needed is weight to the front and bigger wheels
Holy cow....I admire the dedication, but did you consider using a cheese grater for all that cork?
I vote for m12-b4. Big wheels are always good you just need to use them correctly
4:58 when a Tractor gets stuck, some people tie big logs to the wheels. This helps getting out of the mud.
The "Pocket Rocket" should have been the "Sprocket Rocket" 😂
I vote for "Nano Crawler" only because it is very small :)
What kind of model did you like the most and why?
the speedy
because its faster jaja
The lilliputian leviathan
Because it has so many wheels
track-n-rolla i love tracks🤩
I'd do track rolla with beams across where you had put the plastic additions on the treads, instead put them right across both treads.
Feier deine Videos sehr mach weiter so
The "Speedy" would have been ok with well, less speed.
Sisyphus reference be like:
Hmm, a tracked verhicle is ment to have as low of a ground pressure as possible to not sink in. Yours is lacking road wheels an proper tension and the middle part of the track is not contributing for support or grip. You can clearly see the two wheels dig into the corc 😊
The gearing is definetly getting sprung up might be worth trying to stiffen it for more even power delivery
The Off-road Roller was the best one to me
Your tracked vehicle need more support in the middle of the tracks, take a look at a tank.
I don't understand anything in technology, but your video is mesmerizing))
Nano Crawler is my favorite vehicle because of the anchor
And I have no idea why this anchor is here :)
:)
Lilliputian Leviathan is my favourite. I was hoping it would get fitted with bigger wheels.
Honestly I like all of them.
I'd love to see you put wheel on the pointy end of the Stilts-O-Matic's axials! was to sad to see you didn't use tyres (in the unintended way), they'd make great "feet" for the Stilts-O-Matic "legs" like ()----o----()
Best thing is, instead of high friction of contact area like most other solutions, that thing was just changing the direction of force to a better angle! Would have loved to an actual Walker in these, too
Thanks! Amazing suggestion! Glad you like it!
I 100% thought that was just granola.
for the wheels, they simply dug into the terrain because of there small surface area. tracks were over-powered!
Maybe screw type drive will work.
I'm impressed by your Lego engineering and designs! Keep up the great work Dr. Engine ⚙️
Thank you very much!
the shredder
For anyone who don't know the M12-B4 is the number of wheels which is mini 12 and Big 4
Lilliputian Leviathan
If you added more branches to the Stilts-O-Matic you'd eventually get a wheel
I have just one question why is almost all the chains so loose it grinds on the bottom chain and makes it slower ultimately resulting in a fail.
Tracknrolla was the goat and by far my favourite
while the lateral planks are there to keep the medium in place, it is also deceives the performance for the silt-o-matic styled wheels
for the tacks you have to support them in the middle otherwise its basically the same as having just 4 wheels.
love these videos
Track-N-Rolla
Offroad roller is my favorite
You should do this but with official lego technic vehicles
I'd loved the last one 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Bro did a backfilp lol
love video friend🤩
Lilliput leviathan
I bet the leviathan would work best with tank tracks
Tyres from the 4x4 Off Roader and low gearing maybe? Think I might try it myself!
Track-N-Rolla but with double tracks most likely :D
Nano crawler is so cool
Good god I cannot keep watching you build your models by just pressing pieces down unsupported. Every creak just makes me envision broken connector pins and bent-up plates.
Keep calm and stay tuned 😀
Engineers have long come up with an effective shock absorption system. None of your options surprised me.
30 hours.
That's commitment.
Bro the names are epic!
I think the lilliputian levithan, off-road roller, and the best one would have to be, TRACK AND ROLLA! why? Cause track N rolla made it to the finale
man just spent 30 hours making dirt
I LOVE IT
My Vote is Definitely for The Speedy, At the Start i noticed that it got Max Speed And so it was Harder to Climb
Clip: ( 2:32 )
Who would have guessed tracked vehicles do better in soft ground
The Track n’ Rolla probably would have done better if the track was just a little tighter.
