She's only remorseful because her brother accidentally got caught in her trap and was nearly killed. Had it been Caroline, I don't think she would have batted an eye. In other words, she isn't really sorry she did it, she's only sorry that it didn't work out the way she intended it to.

Everly was probably only crying because she had been caught. 7 years in prison for a first offence is hard. She's going to have to serve 75% of her sentence before parole is considered. In other words, 5 years and 3 months in custody and 1 year and 9 months on parole; subject to strict conditions, counselling, curfew, ankle monitor, drug testing.
I'm sorry but I don't think I could EVER EVER forgive my sister in law for cutting the brakes of my car. I would also cut her off from me and never see or talk to her again and I would move house as I would not feel safe.

Yeah if she does finally change it's because they actually went through with it and put her in prison, so she actually /faces/ consequences. All the /threat/ of consequences in the world isn't going to change somebody that's been that self-centered for that long. Until they actually /experience/ those consequences and that they're not going to be able to talk/lie their way out of them will the lesson finally stick, hopefully anyway.

U don’t treat people the way she did. It’s not her just her brothers house, & it’s not the brother’s responsibility to take care of her money wise. I blame the mother on how she raised her.She got what she deserved.

Murder is now just a joke, i hate the younger generation. They need to be joked with by a a gen x, yes they will get hurt but it will actually be funny, unlike this.
This isn't a generational thing, this is that she's spoiled, narcissistic, and possibly a complete fool or out of touch with the real world. You can see all the signs of it, with her constantly lying and making excuses for everything she does, blaming others for her own mistakes, or trying to brush them off or downplay them. Basically anything to get her way and to avoid consequences. There are unfortunately people this twisted in every generation, I've seen stories about middle aged and senior citizens with this attitude.
Actions have consequences. She has 8 years to become a better person. Doubt that she will though.

Unfortunately Caroline and Luis enabled her behaviour. Since she is totally fixated on money for herself they should have:
(1) Reduced her allowance every time she stepped out of line
(2) Insisted she pay for any damages she caused, deducting them prior to giving her her allowance
(3) Insisted she get a job, or she would no longer be welcome to freeload in their home. I'm not surprised she's not living with her parents - they've presumably had enough of her behaviour and kicked her out - so she's already been punished repeatedly without improving her behaviour, and was presumably taken in by her brother and his wife out of the kindness of their hearts. And to give the monster in their midsts an allowance as well is beyond kind.
(4) Put locks on every room and belonging that they didn't want her to go into. She obviously has no respect for others, and no morals, and her behaviour has presumably been escalating. Her promises to do or not to do something, if she ever made any, are obviously worth diddly squat.
(5) Since she obviously is a seriously spoilt brat, or maybe has some form of personality disorder, it needs to be spelt out to her in words of one syllable that her behaviour and any attempt at revenge for punishment would have serious consequences, up to and including being kicked out and/or involving the police.
(6) Since it already looks as though Caroline and Luis are softening towards her it is time, for all their sakes, that they grow a spine and refuse to take her back. She's had a long time to consider revenge while inside and I personally wouldn't trust her further than I could throw her. They need to change the locks, put in a security system, and consider getting a dog. (They can afford it without her there spending their money.) Cutting brake cables is not a joke. Until/if she proves herself they should consider her a serious threat once she's out of prison. She's not a naughty child, she's an adult sociopath/psychopath.

I don't know why Caroline even bothered putting up with Everly an her spiteful lying ways. Caroline an her Hubby should have thrown the trash Everly out on the streets for the way she stole things of Caroline. Aswell as her OWN mothers money. Depending on the Jail, prisoners and visitors can put their hand on the glass between them , putting two hands up on the glass in the same spot is considered holding hands in these circumstances.

Attempted murder is not a prank
She should have received more years in prison, as her brother was critically injured & could have died from her so-called “prank” to scare Caroline. Her tears to them when they finally visited her in prison were just “crocodile tears” as Caroline & Luis were just visitors & free, while she was stuck behind bars, not free to go anywhere or spend their money. And who’s going to take her in when she gets released & can’t find a job that will pay more than minimum wage because of her permanent criminal record of attempted murder?
I do hope Caroline & Luis won’t consider letting her live w/them, as I highly doubt her parents will take her in, cuz if she doesn’t get her way, who knows what kind of “harmless prank” she’ll come up with as her “revenge”. As she’s proven herself to be a dangerous person to have near, imho.
