This dudes eyes tell it all. He doesn't feel deserving of what he has and knows that it can be taken away at any time. Truly a humble soul not just giving an outward appearance of being humble.
Under-rated beyond belief. I wish more people would delve into the back catalogue of Jimmy Eat World, they have some incredible songs. 23, Polaris, Let It Happen, For Me This Is Heaven, I could go on.
Jimmy Eat World, Jim's playing, voice and presence was such a mind blowing experience the first time I heard it. I will always remember that Summer. Rolling down the back roads with the windows down and blasting the album on repeat.
Ernie Ball your Content blows my mind - even if its a commercial in the end, that's totally fine for me. Because i feel your love to music an guitars. Thx for the series
6:32 *The way he looks downward and to the side, after he says: "That's my style, I overthink everything."* Seems he's got another thought or feeling about that... and that resonates with me. I used to do that. A LOT. Then, I accepted that I don't control ANYTHING. I can only influence things to varying degrees [at varying times, as well.] The over-thinking everything essentially disappeared. Only rears it's head at times, when the inevitable difficult thing comes up. And that's when some thinking is needed to gain understanding, acceptance, and the get through it, somehow. That's how life is: Difficult. And that's OK. /side note: Just discovered now, in late 2023, their song "Let It Happen". It's my new favorite by them. 555, and Bleed American are my other favorites.
I'm just finding all of these now, and I can't TELL you how much I'm enjoying the ones with the NON-"guitar god" types! I mean, I grew up being influenced by all the usual suspects, too, but some of these very song-centric guys are... SO, SO underrated and under-appreciated by the guitar community for their place in music. Great to see some deeper dives into their significance and humanity. Many thanks!
You're the best Jim. I'm from Chandler, i grew up with people who met you. You went to the funeral of my high school best friend's Grandmother. Thank you for helping us poor bastards in Arizona start to develop a legit music scene ✌️♥️
This guy's so real, his feet on the ground even with all those lives his music has changed. He's a total artist, his music is truly an image of his beliefs and soul.
This band is so criminally overlooked. I remember I once showed the title-track “Invented” to an old friend who only knew them for “The Middle”. We sat in complete silence for the entirety of the song. After it ended, I looked at his face. He was just staring at the album for about ten seconds before he spoke, and he just said “wow”. After another brief pause, he went on to say “I think this is proof of great songwriting. To be able to make someone feel your music like we just did.. wow” I couldn’t have said it any better myself. Such an incredible jem just waiting to be found amidst so much of the “pop-punk” that it was shrouded by.
Seen these guys at warped tour promoting bleed America and been a fan since...I try to never see my heroes in interviews. So humble and happy to play - I hope they make music another 20 years
his tone in this video is great. you can totally tell hes got beast strings on that thing. the way the bass flubs and overdrives, if you've ever tried it, it feels exactly like that.
It's interesting how he says the approach to songwriting is very methodical because I've always felt like their songs usually hit their next gear around the 2:00 minute mark (mostly), and it's typically an elevated version of themes from earlier in the song but that's exactly what makes their music so damn interesting is it sounds familiar, and different at the same time, precisely because how the band as a whole plays with the idea of "theme" and "variation", but damn if it all doesn't sound so good.
I love listening to Jim Talk he is so passionate about his art...he is one of the best in his genre...he is so humble about it his expressions say that he loves what he doing...that makes him a great in my book...Plus I have a little bit of a crush on him I think he is cute
Chris P it just takes some time little girl youre in the middle of the ride Everything euhverything will be just fine Everything euhverything will be all right, all right.
Jimmy eat world is an unbelievably talented group. Clarity is fantastic as is pretty much every other album they’ve done. It’s staggering. It feels like they got swept into the same category as a lot of other “emo” groups at the turn of the millennium unfortunately. Still kicking out great music 20 some odd years on.
Jimmy Eat World is my favorite band and bleed american is one of my favorite songs. That being said, it is not "their biggest song." The Middle, Sweetness, Work, Kill, Big Casino are easily bigger due to the status of them being singles. You can even throw in Lucky Denver Mint, Always Be, My Best Theory, and some others.
You guys should try and get Adam Jones from tool. Lol you already got Justin on here now get Adam. Haha not even sure if he uses Ernie ball or not but you should still invite em to a string theory
This dudes eyes tell it all. He doesn't feel deserving of what he has and knows that it can be taken away at any time. Truly a humble soul not just giving an outward appearance of being humble.
he is the best, go jim!
This is probably the best compliment I’ve ever read.
Yet, he is one of the best songwriters nowadays.
This is exactly why I love Jim and all their songs. You can feel it in them and especially in every interview and I love it
They really really had to work for it.
would love to see the same kind of documentary they did for Tom Delonge with Jimmy Eat World
They made it now, ayyy
Janek Sebastian Koenig where?
K2Gaming just type in Tom Delonge strong theory
*string theory
@@ErnieBallJMeister that's not what he meant buddy lol he wants a documentary on Jimmy Eat World like the one they did for Tom DeLonge

Clarity is one of the best albums of the 90s imo

Just started listening to Jimmy Eat World in 2017. They are my favorite band now. I LOVE Static Prevails, and everything else I have so far…
Very underrated
@@jeffchiappini683agreed. Probably the best emo record ever
One of the most overlooked band of their era and it kills me

my fave track off of Clarity

His smile lights up the whole room. I just LOVE Jim. Cute guitar guy, a ray of sunshine 😊
That riff for bleed america is so raw and rich. Love it. Reminds me of the summer of 2001 and 2002

7:14 Oh boy that tone❤️
Jim is underrated in my opinion. Very good guitarist.

This band’s style so versatile. Jim’s part of the reason why I picked up a guitar.
I could listen to Jim just play arpeggios up and down all day long.
His singing voice is so much like his talking voice.... Also
Please. New album. Now
Why Not MN didnt they release one, like, last year or something?
I think his guitar is like his singing voice.
bleed American and futures are outstanding albums

These guys are amazing - they haven’t made a bad album in 20+ years

Clarity is one of the best albums of the 90s

Jim, you’re so fucking real, and I it shows in your music. Thank you for being so genuine.
