NO ONE and I mean no one can talk cars like Steve. Thanks for this video High Octane and thank you Steve, you’re looking better every video. You are the best.
Please keep using Steve his knowledge is unbelievable ,glad he is getting better he will help your business I have followed him for years and will as long as he is willing to be out there
So good to see you again Mr Magnante! What a great car, 340 w/ a 4 speed is a guaranteed good time. Thank you High Octane Classics for sharing this and making it possible. ~ Chuck
Hi Steve. Another great video. In '80 I bought the sister car to this, a '74 Dart Sport 360 with the Hang Ten package. I threw a rod when I over-revved it 😬. I learned my lesson, installed a tach , rebuilt & re-bored it. I was lucky the rod didn't do more damage. If I'd known how rare those 360 Hang Ten's were, I'd never have sold her. Man could that thing move. As you said, the power to weight ratio was a big advantage. I can't begin to tell you how great it is to see you back in action. All the best from your Canadian fans!
Wow i never knew they offered hang tens with a 360 I thought they were more of a youth package because of the insurance issues. I actually almost got one (with the 318) earlier this year, if it had the surfboard it would have been a tough call, but went for a duster 360 instead because, well, the 360
@@bobjoe1593 Yes, the 360 was rare in the Hang Tens. A local fellow insisted there were no 360's but I still have the sales receipt showing the VIN which decodes to 360 4bbl High Performance.
Always great to see Steve walking around a Car again, whether it's a pristine Showroom example or in a Rusty old yard. Congrats on your recovery and the presentation of another great looking Car from High Octane Classics.
Hey Steve-O, your extensive knowledge of ALL vehicles "Mopar" is beyond reproach. Anyone who disputes that assessment is without justification. Rest Assured ! Keep On Keeping On Yo ! 🚘🔍. 💯
i had a beautiful 340 duster i should have never let go. sold it to fund a 440 duster prostreet car but i regret it now. this one is pretty sweet as well.
I had a friend in high school that owned the IDENTICAL car to the one in this video. Pretty cool car for a high school senior to be driving around back in 1990.
Years ago, a buddy of mine had a 340 Duster and it amazed me how fast that thing was for stock. That motor was darn near bulletproof. Good to see you again, Steve. You're looking and sounding more like your old self.
It's good to see you back again, and you look much better and seem to be on the mend. This started life as a 318 CID V8. Correct, it has been REBUILT, not "built". Chrysler already built it, the hobbyist rebuilds it. This would have had electronic ignition originally, so no "upgrade" there. Correct, "H" is the VIN code for the 340 CID V8. "P" was for some 400 CID V8s. We got the VIN, we win: V for Valiant/Duster/Scamp, L for low price class, 29 for two door sports hardtop, G for 318 CID V8 with two barrel, aka "Grunt of the Fleet", 4 for 1974 model year, G for St. Louis, MO assembly (Fenton) and the rest is the production sequence. The Fenton plant complex operated from 1959 to 2009. We got the tag, we can brag: M21 for roof drip rail moldings, R11 for Music Master AM radio, 2 watt, V6W for White longitudinal stripes, Y16 for sales bank car, END for end of sales codes, V4W for White vinyl roof, U for USA spec vehicle, B43 for manual brakes, G51 should be a 7.5" rear end with a possible ratio of 2.76:1, L31 for fender mounted turn signal indicators, L73 for seat belt unfastener lamp, KT5 for Sienna (like a brown/copper color) exterior paint, M2YW is the interior code, 509 for possible Thursday May 9, 1974 production, E44 for 318 CID V8 with two barrel, and D13 for three speed manual floor shifter.
In about 1976 I owned a 1970 Cuda convertible that same color yellow with the 340 hockey stick decal down each side thanks for presenting this very nice Duster. it is very good to see you back sharing your knowledge with us
Great car, Chrysler designers were just hitting homers in the late 60's early 70's. Youre looking better every video Steve, hang in brother, were all pulling for you!
Great to see and hear you, Steve. (my Grandmother bought new a 1974 Gold Duster; 318, Torqueflite, factory A/C and sunroof) *Heartbeat City by the Cars
Just saw your update and had to come see the first mopar i could find you talking about. I absolutely loved your junkyard crawls and have been missing hearing your passion about these machines!
I remember the exact looking car as a young man, my girl friends brother had one, minus the scoop. Great fun car to drive, nice burnouts and look great! Nice work Steve!
I had my grandfather's 1971 Duster (it only had the slant 6) but I moved back and forth to college in that by myself with that trunk. 4 of us could head to the laundromat with all our laundry stuffed in the trunk too.
My Grandpa had two Dusters both with the Slant six. One off them was Sand brown ant the other was blue. The Beauty of a Duster they never made 4 doors. Great to see you Steve. From San Diego. 👍
These cars were scattered throughout my high school parking lot - most sporting polite 318’s……..👨🎓 The Cars not only featured a 340 Duster on one of their album covers, I believe the “Greatest Hits” album featured the crumpled fender of another car you mentioned (Chevy Nova) on the front cover……..👍
I lost count of how many A-bodies I owned. The newest one I had was a one-year-old '76 Dart Sport slant 6 with a 4 speed at the Chrysler Exec marshalling center on Lynch Road in Detroit. It was loaded with a sunroof, had only 6k miles & I paid $3K for it. The cheapest were two Dusters, a '72 & a badly rusted '76 with 120K miles for $250 each. Both needed some TLC, but everything worked in them & ran both of them as everyday drivers for almost 5 years each. Michigan winters with salt laden roads speeded up their demise. Great cars, great memories.
Ah, the Plymouth Duster - so many memories! I learned to drive my sister's 1973, 318 powered car. My other sister had a '70 slant six. A friend in high school had a '71 Demon with a built-up 318 - pretty fast car, actually. The sharpest, though, was a guy up the street who had a '74 with the 360!!! I think a Gen 3 hemi swap would be really cool for these or a big-inch small block. This was one of my favorite Mopars!
learned how to drive on a 70, owned a 74 drove thousands of miles on the 74 loved that car it was a 318 4sp, dual exhaust it had the while 340 style strip on the side 60 serious tires with Appliance chrome wheel got 16-17 town flat 20 hiway
Hi Steve, It's great to see you doing your thang, you were instrumental in getting me back into model building after 45 years. Best wishes to yourself, loved ones and fellow viewers.
So good to see Steve back doing videos. He was sorely missed. Keep fighting Steve. As an owner of a stock 43,000 original mile 1974 360 Duster, the owner took some liberties, but did a nice job with the build.
I just recently discovered your amazing channel. Your videos are insanely informative, entertaining, but simple & easy to learn about these incredible muscle cars classics. You are so calm & incredibly knowledgeable about every car featured in your video reviews, I love all the videos, the channel, the content. I am a serious classic car Knott. Thanks for posting.
Looking good Steve and I can tell that you’re speaking a lot better and mobility is improving. Keep taking that shot of NITRO before bedtime! Thanks for sharing my friend!

God speed Steve. Excellent commentator!!!!!!!! You are the MAN
Nice see you doing better Steve. Still praying for you health. And healing.
The 340 a great small block for it's time...very dependable and the Duster still better looking than 95% of cars today.
Well, alright!
When Steve is talking, you better pay attention!
So much information!
Thanks, Steve. We've missed you!
Great to see you Steve, you are truly an “automotive Icon”👍
Always loved Dusters. Great car. Glad to see you up and about, Steve!
So good to see you again Mr Magnante! What a great car, 340 w/ a 4 speed is a guaranteed good time. Thank you High Octane Classics for sharing this and making it possible. ~ Chuck

Back in the saddle Mr Magnante! Love it!
The ready knowledge in this man's brain is unbelievable.

Is my memory off or is this Steve’s first video in shorts? Looks summer-y, along with that beautiful yellow Mopar. Great to see you again, Steve!
Very cool cars !! Thanks Steve !
Ahh, soda cans in summer! So that's why Mopar trunk floors are always rotted out 😂 I kid, great looking example of a Duster. You look great too Steve!
Makes me miss my 340 Dart. Looking and sounding good mags! 👍

Good to see you Steve! And yes, awesome car too.
Well put together little package!
Very nice Steve those 340s were pretty quick.
You are an inspiration, Steve.

I'm glad to see your memory wasn't affected from your illness I was scared about that
I grew up in southern California in the 70's and these cars were all over the place. Most had slant 6 that I saw.
Love to see Steve in action thank you.!
Thanks Steve and high octane!!
Great car, well presented. Thanks Steve
