Thanks. Trying to repair a 70 year old brass fuel primer on my Stinson airplane. I also had to learn how to fabricate a leather cup seal that hey used back then instead of O rings. It’s been an interesting project
Thank you so much ,really helpful video. Could you please tell me, what is the good degree in celsius, for the brass to solder? Also, how do you paint on brass? Thank you in advance.
Hi Ethan, I have bought myself some flux. About the solder you used, should it contain any flux at all? I can locate only "rosin core", which apparentky also contains flux. I mainly solder thin brass rods (for slot carbox frames). I've found 60/40 but no 50/50 and I want t get the ingredients right.
Hey, beginner here. Can you please tell me what sort of solder I can use that is the same color as brass? I want to make some jewelry replicas, so the joint can't look a different color
Hey, it's Dex fro DHS. Nice work man, brass is quickly becoming my new favorite thing to work with. I love polystyrene, but on diecast models, it just feels out of place, and casting white metal is tricky and expensive stuff.
Is there any such thing as brass soldering paste or brass soldering wire to make it be all brass matching coler in the join instead of using silver solder
Yes,. Brazing. Or bronze solder. There is a brand called easyflo. How this helps. Manly used for heavier gauge brass,. But does enable soldering brass to steel, and stainless steel. A lot cheaper than silver solder too.
@@nelbamartinez2310 thank you to my man,. Hope your project comes together well. When buying the Brazing rods, you will also need a tin of flux. It's a powder, gently warm filler rod, dip in powder to coat. Then heat your base material's, and dip dip filler rod. It'll flow nice when you have all temperatures at optimum. Can chase and flow with flame heat. Beautiful stuff to work with. Bit of a list art in the industry now. Chow
I'm currently using brass to make jewelry, after several failed attempted i place the metal in a bath of vinegar and salt.I remove it clean with regular tap water , then solder with borax as flux and jewelry silver solder like a pro😉

Most RUclips videos are below even "amateur" status. This one is PRO stuff. It made me an instant expert. THANK YOU!

Whats the best way to solder joints that are close together with out seperation on a previous soldered joint
Excellent tutorial, many thanks! Your models look fantastic too!
Very nice video. I saw in your video soldering tube. If I soldering small pipe like 1/6 or 1/8 how can I soldering and what gage of material I need?

Flux is there to protect the molten metal against oxygen in the atmosphere. It makes for stronger brazing.
I did exactly what your tutorial says but I don't understand why my solder doesn't stick to my brass can you please help me
That usually means you're heating the solder but not the brass. You should heat up the brass, then let the brass melt the solder
thanks for the informative, helpful instruction. IS there a stronger bonding way to join brass? BTW but why do Americans pronounce solder, "sodder"?
Cw Sayre epoxy ftw
We say potato they say potata, we say tomato they say “saw-der”.
@@mp13r17 I don't know a single person who says potata. Are you talking about Australians?
@@TurncoatTony It was a nod to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong song. Italian background (hence potata)....but yes I'm in Australia now.
Is that soldering wire?
I was wondering why my solder kept on beading up and would not seep in like yours. Now I know, missing the flux. Thanks a bunch
Does the solder have the same colour as the brass
I am guessing not as the solder commonly sold at hardware stores are silver based. I’m going to do a search on brass solder and see what I can find.
This is AWESOME! Many thanks!! 👌🏼

@@nelbamartinez2310 I'm in New Zealand. Any welding supply chain. BoC "British oxygen company" I think are world wide.

Nice work. Great demonstration. Vey well presented.

What solder use for this..lead free solder??
definitely NOT.
He said he got it in the electrical store.
So he is poisoning whomever is wearing that jewelry.
can i use borax?

Goddammit! I'm a Brit, why can't I find a video where the word solder is pronounced correctly!!! It's not 'sodder'!!
Count yourself lucky is wasn't in Russian or Asian stills lot more understandable than a lot of UK accents.
Most Americans say sodder and not sol DER
Very Helpful.
Thanks for posting.
Cheers

Why don't but tell what type of solder u use? Most RUclipsrs r always secretive!
Silver solder works well with brass soldering I've herd but remember the higher the silver content the hotter it has to be to turn molten
Cool!
