Thanks, Steve. I remember my parents took us to Morecambe when we were kids and I have memories of Pleasure Land before they changed it to Frontierland. 🎢
Oh im absolutely loving this one, I love art deco, yet the inside is just perfection.. they done a perfect job. The views as well looking toward the Lake District hills across the bay are fab too ❤
I must say this hotel and the view are uncomparable. I really liked this video! Even in a rainy day the sea view is fantastic. thanks for sharing this pearl ^_^
I knew this hotel in the middle '60's before the restoration. I have to say internally in the central lobby was truer to the art deco style. The whole of the lobby was carpeted in a 'Balmoral' green with matching furniture. It was extremely relaxing and one didn't have that noise level to contend with.
Great video! Very expensive, but you pay for what you get! Loving the foggy glass in the bathroom, lovely large room, the view out of the balcony is exceptional, but the Grand staircase is just WOW! amazing!
One hotel that's full of style and character, Roger. I never knew this railway hotel even existed but looking at a map of Morecambe I did see that it's a fairly short walk from the current station. Cook to order breakfast is a treat and it works at this hotel because I suspect guests aren't in a hurry. But at city centre hotels guests may have limited time and cannot afford to wait for a cooked breakfast to be served hence the buffet. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Alex. It definitely has a relaxed vibe so I think you're right. Feels weird seeing the splendour of the original station building and then having to walk 400m for the current almost hidden platform.
That's rather blown my socks off Rog, what a Place! 👍 Definitely fancy trying that hotel, it looked fabulously different and full of character. I stopped over in Blackpool on a road trip last year, I should have made it Morecambe. That's for sure on my to-do list for the future. Best one yet, well done! 👌
@@RogEdwardsTV well we really enjoy what you do man, and how you do it. You maybe wonder why you do it on weather days like that one but I hope you never stop 😀👍
Hercule Poirot hotel! I thought I recognized it from the exterior, but it seemed a bit ... unkept... As soon as I saw the staircase I knew it was the one used for a few episodes. Wonderful!
Yes Roger, very art deco and half expected Poirot to appear! Midland very different, great interior, and that balcony/sea views. Pity about the weather. Yes, having a cooked to order breakfast definitely a bonus. Glasgow, imo, still the one to beat! Thanks for sharing. Nice one! 😊 👍
Stayed there when it reopened in 2008, gosh time goes fast. Friends are actually staying there this weekend, small world . We did go to Morecambe for our summer holiday in 1980/1. They had a sun centre which had a few good years, but the weather put paid to it making any money and turned into a white elephant. Which was a shame because we were fortunate because when went the weather was fantastic.
The most beautiful hotel you’ve visited so far (well as a youtuber). The Landmark might be at the same level, but they don’t got that amazing scenery. And yes, it’s like watching scenes from Poirot, my favourite detective 😊
I've never been to Morecambe although I have been to Lancaster before and also Carnforth to go to the Booths supermarket. I've also been to the Booths supermarkets in Knutsford and Penrith.
Thanks Michael! I've been doing the "cheaper" hotels first, but eventually there's the likes of Gleneagles and The Balmoral, and the London Hotels like the Andaz which have truly eye-watering prices. 😮
It's such a shame Morecambe couldn't afford (or didn't want) to complete the statue of Morcambe (without Wise )It's not a patch on the one in the foyer of Blackpool's Winter Gardens
The current Midland Hotel was built by the L.M.S. Railway to replace the original which was built by the Midland Railway; you said it the wrong way around in the vlog.
@@RogEdwardsTV THANK YOU ROG I WAS DOWN OCEAN'S EDGE CARAVAN SITE A GOOD FEW YEARS AGO OUTSIDE MORECAMBE IN HEYSHAM, THATS WHY I KNOW THE PLACE PRETTY WELL.
The new owners now allow dogs in the bedrooms! Who wants to spend an arm and a leg staying in a room that stinks of dogs, or sleeping in a bed that a dog had previously slept in? They also allow dogs into the dining room, which is totally unhygienic.

I use a loudness normalisation filter on the final output which is set to -15 LUFS which is supposed to create the consistent level of volume you’re looking for. So sorry it doesn’t work for you.
this wasnt a BTH hotel when I worked for them from 1970 so must have been sold off ,,They had 33 hotels whenI worked for them ,,,Had dinner in midland about 1975 and they had a beautiful mural all up the stairs ,,,pity thats gone
I know most of the BTHs were sold of in the late 70s and early 80s (by Mrs Thatcher) - so perhaps this was one of the first to go? Thanks for sharing your memories. 😀
What do you think of this Art Deco hotel? Have you stayed there recently? It would be great if you’d share your experiences in the comments below! 😀
I used to have holidays there as a kid, thanks for bringing back so many happy memories!

Thanks for the upload as this will be the nearest I get to staying there lol xx
Cheers for watching! 😀

What a great hotel. Shame about the weather. At the Orkney Hotel in Kirkwall they do the same, individually cooked breakfast.
Thanks. That's one to add to my bucket list.

It could do with a lick of paint on the outside to be sure. Must take a battering from the weather, though. Thanks for watching. 😀

No! 😂
ABOUT THE ONLY THINGS WORTH VISITING MORECAMBE FOR IS TO PERHAPS SEE THE ART DECO MIDLAND HOTEL, AND PERHAPS ERICS STATUE BUT NOT A LOT ELSE.
Used to love Frontierland when it was there. But of course now it’s just a big old empty waste ground. 🥲

I trust they deep clean the rooms between dog guests! I didn't see any dogs when I was there TBF. 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV I think that's impossible to remove all dog smells and dog hairs. On Tripadvisor, people have complained about it.
