@@hithere_1967 if you want deeper understanding of these sub genres. The music in subcontinent is of mainly two type hindustaani and carnatic both traces its root from sashtriya Sangeet. Carnatic is mainly used in southern Indian states as well as some influence on srilanka music. Hindustani is more common in northern part of India and Pakistan. Another genre is qawali which was popularized by khwaja chisti in northern Indian(rajasthan),sindh which uses elements of hindustani music and islamic mysticism. Qawali again is very famous in pakistan ,and ustad Nusrat sahab was a master. Ustad in hindustani music means master ,used for people who follow islam While pandit is used for master who follows hinduism .
The stance is religious, but are the songs? The sitting contrasts so much with the way he sings that I assume they are, but it's fascinating either way.
@@osidiusemphatic there is some level of spirituality there but it would be wrong to say that the music is religious because its not. However, people have found spiritual healing in such forms.
Without you Without you, my heart's desire There's no point in living without you Every nerve and vein sings your name My eyes wait for you to come My heart yearns My eyes wait for you to come My heart yearns And calls to you Come back, I swear on our love My eyes wait for you to come My heart yearns Come back, my love, come back My eyes waiting… So it's simple song about love, but why do I think every time that the song has religious context and is devoted to God?
Whenever you read or hear about “Beloved” in Sufi writings and songs you should know it’s always about the God. In Urdu poems and Sufi writings there are two terms, Ishq-e-Haqeeqi (The True Love i.e. Love for God) and Ishq-e-Majazi (Metaphorical Love i.e. Love for God’s creature e.g Men, Women etc)
The relationship with God is described as falling in love with your beloved. Which is very different to Christianity relationship with God. The sufis want to fall in love purely and be in a state of ecstasy with God.
I’m loving that Sufi sindhi Ajrak scarf from Pakistan. You have embodied the finest spirit of what this musical culture continues to produce the best of east and west. ❤ the Sufi spirit is universal it’s roots is in divine love cultivated under the Islamic tradition but my god it’s beautiful to see it’s expression in every culture and every genre and every form of love. God Bless you Andre.
I don't know many people here know this but one of the best things about these shows that Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan used to do was there used to be alot of improvisation while performing on the spot. If you listen you any of his songs recorded in 2 different places you will definitely see that there is a lot of difference and improvisation. That's why he was titled as an "Ustad" which is "Master" in English because this man was a God level musician. You will never see him giving queues to any of the co-performers anyone in his team can come in steal the lime light with a mind blowing note and no matter where they wander with the notes they always find a way back to the song and that was one of the most beautiful things about his performance. Listening to his songs will take you to a journey.
After listening to this song for a couple times I can notice that you're finding a genuinely original structure for these mashups. It's like you're creating a new genre that doesn't feel derivative, but its own thing. Good job!!
This proves that no matter where you are from, what your religion is, music has no boundaries and can transcend all man made hindrances and obstacles..🔥🔥🔥
You don’t get enough credits for your chord’s choice: the vocal lines simply bloom, the song gains more depth and keeps on being interesting time after time. Thank you for this beauty!
What i love the most is the fact that with each video I can see Andre getting deeper into Sufism. There is not a more pure feeling in the world than the fact that you can feel the power of spirituality thru qaul. It is one of the oldest forms of music in today's world deeply connected with different religions More power to you

I used to play in my college rock band and someone introduced me to the music of Nusrat. I was amazed by his vocal prowess and some similarity to heavy metal vocal chops such as compression and distortion in many of his songs. Twenty years later, Andre has finally matched those soaring vocals with a befitting metal track. Kudos!
Another masterpiece! These really are the best of your compositions. For everybody who is into these tracks, go back and listen to the originals. Really gives you an appreciation for what Andre does. Genius stuff here!
Nice! I love how western music embraced Nusrat (Peter Gabriel, Michael Brook, Gaudi, the Asian Underground, etc.) and now Andre! I saw Nusrat perform in Oakland many years ago. I was one of the few non-Pakistani in the audience. Everyone was dressed up so fancy and doused in wonderful fragrances. There was a constant line of people walking up to the stage - during the concert - to place money on the corner of the stage (it must be a Qawwali thing). It looked like one guy put down a large bill, picked up a whole bunch of bills as change, and then proceeded to return all the change on the stage, one bill at a time, bill after bill after bill. Nusrat sounded great and the experience was transcendental. You have done him justice! I love what you're doing in general with South Asian singers.
I love the stoner metal riff. this is gold. the lyrics are haunting. Thank you for the translation. Solo was on point and restrained with emotion the way they should be.
One word........gazab... Actually Nusrat ji was a real rock star back then and you did complete justice with the song...... Great fusion of of two eras

@@AntiAtheismIsUnstoppable Is Andre a Muslim? If not, Islamic ideas about what is or is not a sin wouldn't apply to him. Not sure how his mashup qualifies as hypocrisy, since he's not preaching one thing and practicing another. Which is what 'hypocrisy' means. Also, where do you get the idea that music and drums are a major sin? And can you tell us which places execute musicians? Is Pakistan one of them? Is Andre subject to the law of those "places"? I feel that you're lacking critical information. At least until you return to update your claims.
@@mjt1517 Wooouw, that is not what I am saying... I didn't say anything about andre actually.... I said the singer was officially a muslim, and as such, I would expect him to follow his faith, which clearly says no musical instruments. And then I later added, based on interviews with the singer, I don't believe he was actually muslim, because he said he liked classical music - which absolutely has any kinds of drums. So, this singer would have loved this video..... The reason why he became so popualr is obviously because he was so good. And many muslims (especially westernized muslims) are hypocrites, they enjoy what is haram, then just call it a grey area. They like what we like, but they're not allowed to express it for their faith. So... show this video in an area with sharia and punishment is indeed execution, or at least imprisonment or lashing. There's no way around it.

What I haven't noticed anyone commenting on is the fantastic work that André has done in editing the VIDEO and AUDIO in this and other videos. Just the job of isolating the vocal audio from the original video (removing all the background, such as noise and other instruments), this is already worthy of an award. After that, all the work of composing, recording, mixing, resulting in these spectacular works.

i've been decently into metal for a while, and i've also had my fair share of interest in vocals & singing. i have a very good range and good vocal control, since i was born with natural perfect pitch, but all my life i've just heard mostly White American and Western European music, the vocals in this song have STUNNED me because i CANNOT SING ALONG to parts of it. even the most fast-paced Western songs with the craziest notes i heard i can match, and i can even sing along to other languages like Italian, but the VOCAL CONTROL OF THESE SINGERS. and the NOTES THEY HOLD. THEY'RE SITTING DOWN. i can only DREAM to match it. ever since you've been making these metal covers of the Nooran Sisters and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, i've been OBSESSED. i can't listen to Vocaloid anymore because i'm reminded of this, and what the human voice can do, and how nobody has ever even TRIED to bend a robotic voicebank to this level of expertise. you have altered my music taste at a level deeper than i thought possible. congratulations, Andre! if you continue to make these i will continue to gush about them to my friends forever

Then I believe your heart is open and you are in for a lifetime of musical joy. I started the same journey some years ago and I'm glad you on the train! And DO turn on subtitles. Reading the lyrics of Qawwali music is like reading Shakespeare. Peace from the US.
You should read the subtitles. It is beautiful poetry.
Thanks for the suggestion! You all were right! ❤
You have opened treasure chest to Rock music lovers by bringing Nusrat sahab’s voice to them… Gr8 works…Love from India 🇮🇳
I, myself, was not aware of the beauty of Pakistani music! Since Andre started doing these versions, I've found the original ones and started listening to them (though I cannot understand what is being sung...but the beauty of the singing and playing is so much that what matters is how it makes people feel!).
While Andre definitely did his part, and did so rather epically, rock music lovers got familiarised with Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn long time ago when he and Eddie Vedder colaborated on Dead man walking soundtrack. Namely tracks The long road, and The face of love. Amazing singer
@@CroLlama I didn't know about that! I'm definitely going to check that out!
The dude absolutely rocks. The Asian music circuit in London just went to 11.
Ustad in hindustani music means master ,used for people who follow islam
While pandit is used for master who follows hinduism .
Watching you sit cross legged in the traditional qawali stance singing Akhiyan Udeek Diyan is the highlight of my year so far!!
With ajrak (sindhi ceremonial garment) over his shoulders too.
Indeed
The stance is religious, but are the songs? The sitting contrasts so much with the way he sings that I assume they are, but it's fascinating either way.

So it's simple song about love, but why do I think every time that the song has religious context and is devoted to God?
Whenever you read or hear about “Beloved” in Sufi writings and songs you should know it’s always about the God. In Urdu poems and Sufi writings there are two terms, Ishq-e-Haqeeqi (The True Love i.e. Love for God) and Ishq-e-Majazi (Metaphorical Love i.e. Love for God’s creature e.g Men, Women etc)
Yeah you’re talking about a mystical song in the land where mysticism was born.
Because it is
The relationship with God is described as falling in love with your beloved. Which is very different to Christianity relationship with God. The sufis want to fall in love purely and be in a state of ecstasy with God.
@@stellalunas499 it should be that way with Christians in response to what He has done for us!

Yes, he's wearing the Sindhi Ajrak.
Ajrakh 😍
❤
all these indian and pakistani metal songs should be released into a single album. These are great songs.
Andre, my man, you’re not a musician for me. You’re a freaking magician, and that guitar is your wand. Hats off man

Kudos!
I had no idea who Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was, now I know and will search more about his music... cheers from Brazil
Another masterpiece! These really are the best of your compositions. For everybody who is into these tracks, go back and listen to the originals. Really gives you an appreciation for what Andre does. Genius stuff here!
How this styles come together is kind of a miracle.

It's a bit hyopcritical though since music and in particular music with drums is a major sin in islame. Punishment is execution in some places.
So...

His videos and subscribed list shows how much he is lost in his world.

Is there any chance those amazing Pakistani fusions become available on Spotify so I can play them on repeat for infinity?
Junoon has the best when you consider fusion, although almost every single Pakistani band has at least one good fusion track. Most of them are rock/pop style songs and not metal if that doesn't bother you.
What I haven't noticed anyone commenting on is the fantastic work that André has done in editing the VIDEO and AUDIO in this and other videos.
Just the job of isolating the vocal audio from the original video (removing all the background, such as noise and other instruments), this is already worthy of an award.

i've been decently into metal for a while, and i've also had my fair share of interest in vocals & singing. i have a very good range and good vocal control, since i was born with natural perfect pitch, but all my life i've just heard mostly White American and Western European music, the vocals in this song have STUNNED me because i CANNOT SING ALONG to parts of it. even the most fast-paced Western songs with the craziest notes i heard i can match, and i can even sing along to other languages like Italian, but the VOCAL CONTROL OF THESE SINGERS. and the NOTES THEY HOLD.
This is soo damn true.
