His stubbornness is why he's my favorite. His moral code isn't just a Batman rule, in truth it was originally a DC rule. But Batman works with it best because it shows he's truly insane in a different way then everyone else. He knows deep down he can't stop all the criminals permanently without killing them but he tries anyways because he ultimately fears becoming just like the man that killed his parents, which is his biggest weakness. Unlike other superheroes with specific weaknesses like a rare stone or whatever, batman's weakness is an existential moral dilemma tied to his mental psyche
You know, we all talk about how Batman has no powers and of course that’s true, but you have to admit that Batman, as far as humans go, he basically has powers, or at least attributes that 99.99% of the human population could never hope to reach. And that’s in multiple areas. Physically, the amount of martial arts he’s mastered is basically impossible, given the age he started at. Then there’s his athleticism which, I’d venture to guess he’s probably as athletically gifted as the top 0.01% of athletes. And his recovery and durability are off the charts. That’s not even mentioning his intellect and other skills he possesses, along with being the head of Wayne Enterprises with the playboy attitude. So yeah Batman can’t fly, but I’d honestly rather have Batman’s abilities than flight.
blackgirl that’s my point. I feel like Batman’s physically capabilities are described as “peak human” but there’s no goddamn way that’s true. Then stack on top of that everything else, he’s basically a superhuman.
@@maxm2656 it’s true, but there are guys similar to him out there (though not as literally Hero-esque.) Amazing athletes (usually rode on a full scholarship for wrestling/water polo,) unbreakable determination and were trained to be among the best warriors in a very select community. Surprisingly, a lot were extremely humble as well. I used to call a Lieutenant I went through SQT with “Bruce Wayne,” cause he was from one of the wealthiest families on the planet and was always the best at everything we did. Sorry, I’m rambling. Batman the type of guy to break every single bone in your body and walk away knowing it’s fine because you didn’t die. That why he’s my favorite character.
I'm surprised that no one pointed out that while the list called Red Son Superman a villain, he quite literally was trying to stop the world from being taken over by a superpowered alien that seized control of an authoritarian government. Except instead of being evil enough to be a good enough authority to prevent corruption he essentially just leaves all his territories to get fucked over by the ruling party. Like the sheer and total irony is that Russian Batman was still trying to save the world even if it was more about revenge. Cause his bit about Superman being the same as the other leaders is completely true. Superman is too preoccupied with his own goals that individual choice as well as individual consequence become removed from his thoughts. Just wanted to point out that while they frame the Batman as rather villainous, its because an ignorant, naive alien who cannot identify with human struggles (pain, weakness) seized control of an authoritarian superpower and was just conquering other countries for shiggles but not actually governing over them which we later find out allowed the ruling party to just abuse the entire system to shit like irl.
To add to this but the comic book Red Son Batman didn't want to kill anyone he just wanted to bring down the government, his terrorist actions of like destroying the Superman museum; he gave the civilians adequate time to escape. And when he beat Superman to a pulp he was going to lock him in a bunker with plenty of food so he could live out the rest of his days rather than leave him there to like starve to death. Like they make Batman a cold-blooded killer in the movie when that kind of defeats the purpose of terrorist Batman he wanted absolute freedom (anarchy) instead of Superman's communist world of perfect order.
@@PapaBearIsHere I know making Batman an actual murderer kind of takes away all the character's nuance in the story. Instead of being a guy who stands up for the people and destroys government properties, as far as I know not even taking the lives of government soldiers and officials even though one of them murdered his parents; he's just a super villain terrorist.
You're mistaken, red son Superman was not taking over the world for any reason, let out for shiggles. Other countries wanted to join because he was governing successfully. The U.S didn't collapse because Luthor singled handedly kept it afloat. Superman was basically asked to take over Russia too. Batman wasn't framed as a villain either. Not sure where you got that. But neither was Superman. Closest thing to an overall villain was Luthor. And even that Luthor wasn't that bad at the end.

I wish DC would actually use Batman's "No Kill Rule" as an indicator that Batman is actually a bad, ultraviolent person who can only live in a good way if he adheres to certain inflexible rules. That if he allows himself to actually be himself, he will never be able to live in a good way ever again. However, characters who are good, are not as violent by nature, and not on such a precipice of insanity, should actually be able to kill without it having an adverse effect on their moral compass or methodology. The thing is, good people don't need rules to live in a good way, and this simply wouldn't happen very often unless very specific plot contrivances demand it. Instead, DC treats the "No Kill Rule" as a moral event horizon regardless of the character, that, if violated, the former hero will inevitably become Darth Vader if allowed to remain at large. That's fine for Batman; I think it makes him more interesting if he's a monster choosing to act like a better version of himself. But to use Batman's personal code of conduct to define Moral Alignment just doesn't make any damn sense. (Especially since Batman kills somebody in so many movies)
Didn’t Batman kill the guy that killed his parents and In doing so realizes that, that act is something his parents can’t forgive. So now he goes doing good without breaking that one rule.
@@chpsilva no, a real good person doesn't need a "no kill rule", they just don't kill unless it is absolutely needed. Batman needs to kill certain villains, the joker for example, but he doesn't and sees it as a moral failure to do so.

@@mysticlegion8088 But then he’ll struggle against Joker in a fight and intelligence battle smh 🙄 shit is so annoying. Batman has no reason to even be in the mix with a lot of those hero’s. Superman struggles with Darkseid, yet Batman can land punches that hurt him 😂
With Owlman, Batman does give him a chance to disarm the bomb and live (though stranded), but Owlman just allows his own death because he theorized there's one version of him who will succeed and destroy Earth prime and all other realities with it anyway. (problem is even with infinite realities, doesn't mean it's certain to happen, much like there are infinite odd numbers, but you'd never count to an even number).

Even Batman said it during his fight in DKR Part 2 when Clark said “if the Gov didn’t send him, it’ll just be someone else.” Bruce replies “Really. Batman doesn't have a "Berserker Rage". He is always in control. Your 1st example, Batman blatantly says that the battle isn't a fight, it's a surgery, and he is the surgeon. Surgeons use steady hands and deliberate actions. You guys don't know what the word Berserker means do you?
For the most part your right. Batman very rarely , if ever, goes berserk. He surgically takes apart his opponents using whatever means neccesary to do so. Wolverine is what a berserker looks like. Batman is a technician. Only the Joker has ever been able to get Batman close to losing control.
I always found it amazingly interesting, how people assume that Superman without his powers would be weak. When the opposite is true. Superman is trained in every form of martial arts just like Batman. While also possessing Kryptonian level intelligence. Meaning the knowledge of the 28 known galaxies. Comics & Movies try to make Batman so strong when the fact is they have to dumb down Superman to make Batman stand any chance even under equal conditions were Superman has lost his powers.
Last I checked Superman trained only in Kryptonian martial arts. I wouldn’t exactly call the equal in fighting prowess. Also, Batman is the greatest strategist in fiction. That’s his true superpower.

So yeah Batman can’t fly, but I’d honestly rather have Batman’s abilities than flight.
exactly. Like what kinda human being can reach batman like power both physically and mentally or just one of the two?!
Its already hard to reach wealth!!
blackgirl that’s my point. I feel like Batman’s physically capabilities are described as “peak human” but there’s no goddamn way that’s true. Then stack on top of that everything else, he’s basically a superhuman.
@@maxm2656 it’s true, but there are guys similar to him out there (though not as literally Hero-esque.) When I served in the Teams we had officers that we called “Ivy League’s.” Guys that come from super wealthy families, graduated valedictorian of their class at Harvard or Princeton or another very difficult high class college, and decided to become SEALs. Amazing athletes (usually rode on a full scholarship for wrestling/water polo,) unbreakable determination and were trained to be among the best warriors in a very select community. Surprisingly, a lot were extremely humble as well. I used to call a Lieutenant I went through SQT with “Bruce Wayne,” cause he was from one of the wealthiest families on the planet and was always the best at everything we did.
Sorry, I’m rambling. Long story short, there are more guys out there who are closer to a living Bruce Wayne than you think.
Batman does have powers. He's the son of the Universe Eater, Barbatos The Bat God.
@@MuggMen to be honest that does sound better, as I didn't sympathize with Batman in the movie at all, he murdered people.
Sums it up.

Batman may not be punching killer punches, but lets keep in mind that entire suit is made of kevlar. while Kevlar isn't particularly hard it is still pretty tough. Bruce is essentially punching joker at full force with the equivalent of a pair of brass knuckles....Repeatedly. AT THE VERY LEAST he has a severe concussion and major facial disfigurement. and at the worst Bruce causing internal bleeding inside joker's brain and hemorrhaging. Or just watermelons his head I can't say for sure (Please note Im not a doctor I am a guy looking this up on google.)

@@vaporwave2339 joker is more tough than the average man
@@bongboi2831 Well no- He's just so insane he basically just ignores the pain. True he has survived some stupid crap before, but he's also died just as easily as a normal person only to be returned to life by something or someone. Example: In the comics at...well several points joker should of fallen to his death yet survived. Yet, during one comic (I forget which) Talia just shoots him and he dies. The only reason he comes back is batman needed to know where Ra was and the joker knew where that would be, so batman threw him into a lazurus pit.
I don’t know what’s scarier, Batman laughing or saying “it’s pizza time”
Michael Ironside voicing Frank Miller's Batman in TAS was incredible. Love Weller but he was a little more robotic.

Iron Side wasn't Batman in the original animated series. If you're gonna say an animated series, day which one. Cause saying 'TAS' is very broad.

"Good people don't need rules to live in a good way". Heh, you're kidding, right ?

Much respect to Batman, but the only reason he’s able to go toe to toe with Superman is plot armor. Simple. Which is fine seeing as it won’t ever be a fair fight. Even Batman said it during his fight in DKR Part 2 when Clark said “if the Gov didn’t send him, it’ll just be someone else.” Bruce replies “Really. Who will they send after you?”

Dude... SERIOUSLY, you put that bullshit fight with Joker and left the final fight with Talon from "Son of Batman?!?" That was some of the most badass animated fighting I've ever seen.
It's not about the badassery, but the brutality
Has there ever been a moment where his code keeps him from mercy killing someone who would suffer otherwise?
Well, in a DLC for Arkham Knight you can come across Ra’s Al Ghul, and choose to either destroy the Lazarus pit, or revive him when he’s on his deathbed.
