On my first group ride i brought a ton of kitkats and snickers just in case someone was gonna bonk. No one ate them so I had a bunch of chocolate all to myself.

Top tip for group riding: establish dominance over the group by attacking off the front at a far higher pace than prescribed and dropping the group. This will impress everybody and ensure you're invited to subsequent rides.

I ride on a no-drop group ride. They try to keep the group together all in one slug for traffic control. Since that's the goal, we will call out "MECHANICAL" if someone gets a flat or has some other issue that needs to be fixed. The lead person will stop the entire group when this happens.

I’ve been watching your Chanel for a few years now. I definitely have gained the majority of my knowledge from your Chanel .And for that I am grateful. This is my very first time commenting. I just wanna give you props. And tell you that I’m thankful for how passionate you are about fixed gear. I share that same passion. This particular video touched my heart. You pretty much nailed my philosophy of what I think fixed gear is about. I couldn’t have said it better. Thnx! And cheers from Dallas Tejas! 🎉

Critical Mass is a great place to get started. They exist in a lot of major cities. They are set up specifically as an intro to group rides for beginner bikers. Their pace is usually very comfy, they often have mechs at the rear in case you get a flat or something. They also often cork lanes to keep the group together and pre-empt motorists. Incredible way to get into the community. Might be rough on a fixed gear, depending on the route, as they are assuming people have geared bikes, but given the usually more relaxed pace, if you are here on fixed gear youtube you probably have the chops.

I'm on an inadvertant group ride every morning down St Kilda rd to the CBD. Usually end up in a group and catch the same 7-10 people the whole way down doe to red lights. I told a chick this morning her lace was untied in sign language. She said grazias eventually when she realised what I was pointing at

This is really great, planning on going on some group rides in my city soon and this helps break down the barrier to entry. I like the mentions of courtesy. Great content.

I just started to keep a flat kit on me! I finally bought spare tubes and Allen keys and wrenches 😅 I realized I can’t always rely on other cyclist for help. I’m greatful for all the times I’ve had help though with mechanicals

Fifty years ago the most important thing to bring on a road group ride in an unknown area is a map, money and emergency food because we didn't have cell phones back then.

Prob not a big concern on fixed rides, but ”slowing” is important on road rides.

All should know the suggested route incase get dropped or have to stop for traffic and get left behind
All should also, before each ride check their bike chian, handle and tyres
All should also discuss signals before each ride

He explained why he does not do these kinds of videos anymore a few months ago. He does not want to spread negative vibes on bikes that earn less fixie points.
