Instead, you should have pressed her further and attempted to reveal her potential bias against Lara Pierce and her deputy, the Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Akin-Sawyer. That’s where your focus should have been-to expose her motivations and demonstrate to the people of Sierra Leone that her appearance on the panel may not have been to provide informed commentary, but rather to discredit and dehumanize these individuals she appears to hold animosity towards. As responsible journalists, it would have been critical to highlight that she is not an expert and to challenge her underlying motives, ensuring that the audience understands the true purpose behind her statements.

AYV, you’ve made a significant error in this interview. You allowed an individual, who openly admitted she is not an expert in auditing or the related activities, to provide commentary on a subject outside her scope of knowledge. This undermines the credibility of the discussion and could mislead the public, especially the people of Sierra Leone, by giving a platform to someone who lacks the necessary expertise. From a journalistic standpoint, it would have been more appropriate to redirect the conversation to topics she is qualified to discuss or to conclude the interview after her admission of not being an auditor. Continuing to ask her about auditing, despite her lack of knowledge, compromises the integrity of the information being presented. As journalists, it’s essential to maintain accuracy and ensure that experts are the ones addressing specific technical matters, especially when it comes to topics as crucial as auditing.

If you want to question someone’s credentials, you should at least learn how to put a simple sentence together.
