Does anyone understand precisely _why_ he acts this way? Because Daniel sees Miyagi as the main reason he didn't go into the gutter. Someone that was willing to work with him when others wouldn't have bothered. It took him a long time to figure out what he was doing, but once he did, he vowed never to let it go. It's also why Robby ultimately got out of the gutter and stayed out.
It's because in The Karate Kid: Part III, he questioned Mr. Miyagi when he told Daniel that when he grows, he will find his own way of doing karate but Daniel was like "oh hell no. I want your way to be the only way". It was that moment Daniel went down the same path as he did in Cobra Kai
