Actually just episode one was in front of a live audience.
When people say "laugh track" or "canned laughter," most of them just mean "you can hear laughing from off screen" and aren't differentiating prerecorded laughs and a live audience.
Even for TV shows filmed in front of an audience, laugh tracks are used to sweeten the audio. It's a reality of audio mixing. Maybe they needed a stronger reaction, maybe they needed a more calm reaction. This is why the laugh tracks were made in the 50's to begin with.

Remember Darci was originally majoring in political science. I like that she’s moved over to the hard sciences as a result of her experiences
She went from being portrayed as an utterly non-scientific person, to a world renowned scientist in less than a decade. That seems 'plot-armor' fast. My guess is they'd rather have had Natalie Portman or even Stellan Skaarsgard show up, but they were too expensive. Kat Dennings is a cheap replacement with just enough 'Marvel cred' to satisfy the audience's need for crossover characters.
- They probably would have liked to have Phil Coulson and his SHIELD crew show up too. This is exactly the type of 'incident' that normally would have them on scene. But not enough people have watched Agents of SHIELD, and it would have raised questions about why he was alive.
@@Mr.Ekshin I don't think she's necessarily world renowned. Wasn't really mentioned. And she could have gotten her doctorate in that time assuming she wasn't dusted. Though they haven't made it explicitly clear on that.
Either way. Definitely plot armorish. Just don't think it's the worst example out there.
@@Mr.Ekshin Well that and there were a lot of people who liked Darcy in those movies. I definitely did. She was one of the best parts of the second Thor movie especially cause Natalie Portman didn’t even seem like she wanted to be there anymore. And I can’t really blame her, Jane was reduced to nothing but a love interest in need of help. But also you have to remember that there are five extra years tacked on to the MCU. And assuming that Darcy did not dust, that gives her plenty of time to have changed career paths after Thor 2 and become a doctor.
@@UltimateBreloom - I say "world-renowned' merely because the government wouldn't be bringing in second-rate scientists for a phenomenon like this. It was kind of clear that they chose people at the pinnacle of their fields and brought them in with strict security rules. They weren't even supposed to talk amongst each other (a rule that Darcy broke almost immediately).
But you're right... there was far worse "plot armor" in these episodes. It makes me wonder what happened after the series to Darcy, Jimmy and Monica. They committed assault and battery on two federal officers, then illegally kidnapped and imprisoned them. Then they trespassed into a high security facility that they'd been ordered to leave, after which they illegally accessed (hacked) a secure agency computer server. It would seem they should all be facing serious prison time.
@@Mr.Ekshin also you don't need a degree in a specific field to be accepted to a PhD program. Letters of Recommendation and relevant experience go a long way

Back in Ant-Man & The Wasp when Jimmy asked, "How'd you do it, Scott?" Then when watching WandaVision, Jimmy Woo has finally perfected sleight of hand. When next they meet, Scott will be proud. LOL
The quicksilver from Wandavision is the actor who played him in the recent X-Men films
And what really freaked people out is that this character crossed over from the Fox X-Men marvel universe into the MCU shortly after Disney bought Fox.
I still think its brillaint that they casted him. Shame it was Ralph Bohner, I hoped it would be either Mephisto, or Agatha's son helping her out, like a sidekick. That way Evan Peters could play new major character / villain in mcu and still would have played Pietro for 2 episodes as an imposter, which was great. Its a shame his identity wasnt anything interesting in the end, but I still prefered that to him being actually from fox universe - i know people liked him, but that would be really bad for the whole story.
@@kptmaci4979 1) that’s kind of a major spoiler so sort of rude to post that. 2) it’s been theorized that he still is really quicksilver because if you remember the whole reason Woo is there is for someone in witness protection and we never get revealed who that is and “Ralph Bohner” is very made up sounding plus why giggle at your own name as quicksilver did? Anyways, as usual Marvel probably isn’t telling us the whole story yet
@@V_4_Versace i thought everyone who cared about the show already watched it, you dont care about spoilers if you watch it first through someone elses eyes and through some quick montage either way and i dont think Natalie reads comments under longer series because of spoilers so its safe m8 xd and theory about ralph being real pietro is real poor. Agatha would notice he is the real deal and he wasnt. It would be a really bad storytelling also. Only people that loved evan peters quicksilver wanted him even if it would be terrible for mcu. As big fan of quicksilver as i am at least i see the bigger picture and know its a bad move to ressurect him in mcu. Wanda is on a path to House of M storyline, wandavision basically set everything up for it to happen in the future. Quicksilver rising from the dead would mess that up so much.

The scene where the woman is trying to hang the decorations but cant is heartbreaking. I imagine shes been standing there for hours unable to do anything else but try to hang those decorations. Like Wanda didnt have enough processing power to control the town outside of her immediate area after adding the kids back into her story.
The "90s show" is based on Malcom in the Middle to a T.
I was kinda surprised she didn't mention it; that show had such a distinct intro. The fourth wall breaking and cutting to flashbacks were such a Malcolm in the Middle thing too.
I gotta admit I'm a little miffed they have the episode with the goofy uncle patterned after Malcom in the Middle, instead of Full House.
@@EvanSaltare There always the chance she hasn't seen the show. The only reacters on youtube who DON'T get the reference immediately have said they never watched the show. Therefore, they don't have the context to clock the reference. Makes sense.
The 80's intro with the watercolor being painted was from Family Ties, the television show that launched Michael J. Fox.
And Growing Pains music style
And the 90s episode borrows really heavily from Malcom in the Middle specifically; camcorder intro of the kids getting themselves into trouble, then kid introducing the episode to the camera, etc.
Isn't she watching Malcolm later?

Everyone who hasn't seen the xmen movies: "Who the f#!k is this guy?"
That about sums it up
Too true 🤣
That's the problem with these First Time Watching" reactions. Nobody looks up anything. Due to not having seen the X-Men movies Natalie made a few narrative leaps and is in essence watching a different show than the rest of us did because she doesn't know that Evan Peters also played Quicksilver in those movies and because she didn't know that it has directed her thinking in a way that really doesn't make any sense. Like she's making a big deal about the kids having Quicksilver powers even though it's Tommy who has the powers he has in the comic. Or when they break the 4th wall it was taken as a sign things were breaking down when it was actually a Malcolm in the Middle reference. I'm not sure how this will flow into the final since a lot of her assumptions will be proven incorrect. As soon as one of these channels starts where someone hasn't seen anything because they lived in a fallout shelter or something they should be assigned a pop culture expert that can tell them information they will need to get the full scope, understanding and enjoyment out of whatever they're watching. So many shows rely on understanding a bunch of other shows or movies and the MCU even more so beyond their own catalogue of films they also throw out a heap of references to other things. Like the Squidward bit in Infinity War. If they don't know who that is they won't know how dated and awkward that reference is. So, yeah, that's what I was thinking.
@@uosdwiSrdewoH i see where youre coming from but it isnt a "problem". she just hasn't seen xmen or read the comics, just like plenty of other normal people watching this show. normal people don't get a "pop culture expert" and not knowing doesn't mean they've lived in a fallout shelter either, you're being waaay too harsh. maybe watch a superfan reaction or something if it bothers you that much that someone watching something for the first time doesn't automatically get every reference or has theories that aren't right. and 1) she isn't going to risk spoilers to look up stuff (neither would i) and 2) she very likely has someone tell her about what references she does miss if they're important
and it's especially frustrating to see comments like this because natalie has shown numerous times that she understands references and callbacks and things like that but god forbid she missed 2 or 3 in two episodes.
"Who the f#!k is this guy?"
- An actual line said by RUclipsr Mary Cherry while reacting to this same episode. No joke.

Guys, Natalie is the ultimate Marvel fan.
I love how Ralph Boner makes a mistake literally in the first minute of his mission by saying "who's the popsicle?": the real Pietro would know since he was there when Vision was born
Yeah the comedic Pietro here is played by an actor who played a different version of Quicksilver in 3 of the X-Men films.
Different and overpowered one.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps And more hilarious in DOFP and Apocalypse. :D
I love what a super hero vision is, that when he stepped out of the world he didnt ask for help for him, he asked that they help the people trapped inside.
The two quicksilver actors also acted together in the movie kickass. So when the kids said that it was homage to that
Just to add one more thing, when agent Wu wrote down hexagonal shapes it was a bit of an Easter egg. In the comics Wanda's power is referred to as hex powers.
I wish I was there watching it with her. She doesn't realize it's the X-Men version of her dead brother. (Who is not dead in the X-Men franchise)
Even X-Men franchise being dead itself hahaha
when there are shots that usually dont fit into a sitcom its in moments where something weird happens. mostly when somebody tries to get to close to wanda
As others have said, this Pietro played the character of her brother (Quicksilver same comic character) in X-Men. Before this, Fox owned the X-Men franchise rights, but right before the filming of this series Marvel obtain the rights to X-Men, so this was a way of possibly introducing X-Men into the MCU. Fox also owned the rights to use the word "mutant". You can also see this actor in the background of one scene in Deadpool 2 in the mansion. Deadpool also being a Marvel character crossing with X-Men.
For the Halloween episode, they're all wearing their comic-book costumes. (Including the boys; Tommy is the superhero called Speed, and Billy is the superhero called Wiccan).
The moment when Wanda sees dead Vision is a heart stopper. I loved watching Natalie piece together that the opening was people coming back from the Snap then realizing who Monica was, Thanks for letting me watch with you
@6:22 - I wondered about Wu's question as well. Seems like a Chekhov's gun. Perhaps it's because hexagons play a role in witchcraft, either in real life or in the MCU, or hinting at Wanda being the Scarlet Witch - or simply because it shortens to "hex", a spell.
In the comics her character was originally described as having a 'hex-power', which has more recently been referred to as chaos magic, so I'm guessing it was meant to be a nod to that.
"Peace in our time."

I really really really really really NEED to see Natalie's reaction to the last episodes of this show.
"How powerful does she have to like, mind-control everyone and manipulate reality?"
In a single _town_ ? That's kids' play. In the comics she did this to the entire planet. Twice (that I know of). And it wasn't even mind-control and pretend, she literally rewrote reality itself.
Wanda's extremely overpowered and quite mentally unstable. Doesn't really make for a good combination.
mmmm Probability Manipulation. Back in Infinity War, you can see Wanda holding Thanos with five stones back AT THE SAME TIME as unworking the sixth Infinity Stone. Honestly, in End Game, she was all they needed: she had the raw power to rip Thanos apart [literally], and since she was just un-blipped, she was rocking the fresh rage from IW; but they wanted the task of beating Thanos shared between everyone.
Wanda and her dad are by far my favorite mutants.
@@dracoargentum9783 Not a mutant but even if she was she manipulates reality with chaos magic not probability manipulation her probability manipulation as a mutant power was very inconsistent and nonsensical because at times it was almost omega level others it was just luck manipulation basically. Now it is confirmed that her power to manipulate probability it’s just a sub ability of her chaos magic and it is more sensical that way. PS. Even in her mutant days she was always a witch with chaos magic most people forget that
The typical response for the first 3 episode is typically along the lines of ‘cute, and a bit weird’. From now on it’s mostly ‘Holy sh*t!’

Jazzercise... sorry my OCD coming out ;)
"That was awesome"
Right? I actually laughed and started clapping!
The New Pietro was the actor that played Quicksilver in the X-Men films, that's why they chose this specific actor
A cute touch in episode 4, Wanda sends Monica through 2 walls and a fence, and then through the literal and figurative 4th wall of the outside border of the Hex.
Norm is not "stupid." He is reacting in the same manner as the average office staffer did when email was introduced to businesses in the 1980s. Prior to that only universities that participated in the DARPAnet used emails.
I mean, he's getting right the characterization of someone of the 80's to "new" tecnology
Well I mean thinking you need a letter opener for email is not the average office worker and is stupid, BUT is in line with how most sitcoms have at least one person who would be represented like that for the comedy.
It's also exactly the sort of cornball, "new technology is weeeeeeird!" joke that was a staple of 90's sitcoms.
@@Logan_Baron I disagree, Plenty of people had zero clue back in the day. Comments like, "Where does the letter come out?" and "But I don't see it in my inbox (while physically checking their physical inbox)" were verrry common when these things rolled out. And this was pre-bbs, pre-internet.
Since we got one episode a week when the show first aired, everyone shared theories and referred to elements from the comics. When the first episode back in the real world aired, it was wild because the Marvel writers predicted months in advance what all our theories would be and incorporated it into the SWORD theories, Darcy’s comments, Jimmy’s whiteboard notes - everything. So for Marvel to not have Wiccan and Hulkling as gay
America Chavez as a lesbian
Prodigy and Speed as bisexual
Kid Loki as gender fluid and even
Marvel Boy as pansexual

There was a scary theory that the Yo-Magic commercial was about how Wanda is controlling everyone but can't keep track of the ones further away, so they can't function properly and eventually starve to death.
The 90s opening and “talking to the camera” bit was 100% Malcolm In The Middle.
Curiosities you may have missed:
- The 5th episode is a parody of 80's and early 90's shows. The intro references Family Ties, Growing Pains and ofc Full House
- On ep 6 they actually wearing their comic accurate costumes
- Ep 6 is a parody of late 90's and early 2000's TV. In fact the whole episode, intro included, is made in style of "Malcom in the middle". Talking directly to the camera is a main feature of that show
- The ads are actually hiding details of Wanda backstory, all are pretty dark if you get their actual meaning
- The kids share the same powers that Wanda and Pietro have, those being superspeed and psychic abbilities

Pretty much all the commercial breaks in WandaVision have been reminders of past traumas, namely the Toast-Mate 2000 blinking like the timer of the bomb that killed Wanda's parents, the Strücker watch and Hydra Soak referring to her being experimented on, and the Lagos paper towels named after the Nigerian city where she accidentally blew up that building.
As for Yo-Magic, that'll make sense later.
This version Of Quicksilver is the same actor who played him in the X Men Movies. #Multiverse

This show is a good example of dealing with depression. The way that Wanda presents herself to every one and what she’s feeling herself and the manipulation of “reality” to have those lighthearted moments. We also see the cracks in the facade start to form.

The reason that actor is playing the fake pietro is because in the comics the maximoff twins are both mutants and children of X-men villain magneto in addition to being major members of the avengers. This actor plays the version of quicksilver from the FOX X-men movies

damn that's good i thought it was a sword.
I mean, it is...
@@VegetaLF7 woosh
The commercials were always dark Nat lmaoo it's also worth noting that they're reflecting Wanda's mental state. Like how the yo-magic commercial felt desperate, dark and helpless. Or how the paper towel was called 'Lagos', where Wanda caused the accident, and the tagline read 'for when you make a mess you didn't mean to.' She's still feeling the guilt 😢
18:50 Nat never watched Malcolm in the Middle it seems
18:34 That's the Pietro (aka Quiksilver) from the X-Men movies, it's the same character but a different actor played him in those movies, this actor.
19:29 They're both dressed in the outfits they have in the original comics
"Are the commercials getting dark now?"
Always has been...
The costumes the kids are wearing in the Halloween episode are similar to the costumes Wanda's kids wore as heroes in the comics. Their names were Wiccan and Speed.
Never clicked so fast for a reaction vid b4
Whoa! So that musical you mentioned, _Evening Primrose,_ essentially has the same plot of the first episode of the renewed Doctor Who, which was coincidentally named _Rose._ I wonder if there's any connection.
I’ll miss being a Patreon but *I’ll be back* (in terminator voice) 😂
I love how the ending credits television thing is different based on what Time Era the episode was set in.
Ive been waiting for this
First btw
Me too

Strucker Watch (the man who used her and Pietro in hydra) Lagos paper towels (Lagos is where she blew up a building in Civil War), all the commercials are references to big moments in her life.
