Traffic rules are suggestions in Vietnam😅
I was terrified a few times while in a taxi car because the driver was reckless in my European POV

Ha! I "almost got into a crash" even whilst walking on the sidewalk in HCMC.

There been a couple of times i got really frustrated and would casually speak to the reckless culprit in Vietnamese (if both of us happened to be at same traffic stop, i would deliberate stop right beside) "Why do you guys ride recklessly holding phone with 1 hand / why didnt you signal just when you made the right turn" etc. The reaction would be a masked blank dirty look + shock - "Did this foreigner just speak to me in Vietnamese and criticized my driving techniques?"

Haha interesting. I stopped doing that kind of stuff actually. Literally no point in explaining or scolding ppl here since no one cares, doesn't matter if you speak viet like a local or have an accent. I sure know that blank stare lol. But that's how they react when they are scolded by a fellow local, it just adds a bit of surprise maybe when you say it to them I guess but the blank face with silence is normal

It's very interesting that it happens all the time there, the traffic conditions in Vietnam are not that bad after all! It's maybe even better than in the UK : )
