I have two theories of the origin of the Cave Dweller. 1. If minecraft is a "post nuclear” world, probably in a past they were humans, but they mutated and become more primal to the point of hiding again in the caves and become more agressive but not loosing his intelligence. 2. They are a diferent type of wild animal, probably hominid, that they lived in the caves during a great time. And the player is just an intruder or a potential prey.
Fun fact : Some of the sounds Cave Dweller makes are not unique but reused sounds from a scary enemy named Terry Akers from a game named Soma By Frictional games

@@Steel_Talon The screams in this pack are from the stalkers in Dead Space 2. They have even more terrifying sounds. Very bird of prey/raptor like... and their whole AI revolves around ambush tactics. I would not recommend looking them up if you're really squeamish to gore.
