Hackett wasn't the only problem, by any stretch, but he was a big problem. He had to hire someone to manage the clock. He had to have the QB coach call plays. One of the most penalized teams in football. Players getting in fights on the sidelines. What exactly did he bring to the table? Yeah Russ had a trash season, but Hackett definitely wasn't a solution in any way shape or form.

Hackett was a real head scratcher signing for me. I remember back when he was the Bills OC back around 2015 his main offensive philosophy was trying to use a smaller scatback in a power run blocking scheme. He ruined CJ Spiller's career.

Nobody wants to bring up the facts that maybe Hackett is just a bad HC who got credit for offense at GB when your QB is AARON FREAKING RODGERS IN HIS PRIME. He’s Adam Gase 2.0…Gase is a wizard when your QB IS PEYTON F’ing MANNING. He just sucks Adam Gase=Joe Philbin=Nathaniel Hackett….generational talent at QB who are already in their prime doesn’t make you a offensive genius.

Love how Acho at the end named players that were either cut for bad play (Gordon), injured before the season (Patrick), injured during the season (Williams and Hamler), or have been in and out of the lineup throughout the year (Sutton and Jeudy). And then to name Kellen Moore as a potential HC hire? There’s no telling if he’d be another McDaniel or another McDaniels.

The media has bafoonerized Russell Wilson to the point that his teammates don't have to respect him! They literally can quit when he is in the game knowing all the blame will fall on him! The Bucs don't have that luxury to just quit when Tom Brady isn't playing well or the media will point them out first!
I feel like Russell Wilson was set up by the media making huge expectations on the team. When I look at the WRs for Denver, Not a single one is in the top 25. Tim Patrick was the 49th best WR in the league based on his PFF grade from previous year. Sutton was about the same. So the great weapons narrative is a myth! They are a solid group because of depth, not because of individual greatness. Tim Patrick went down and it killed that and other guys have been out as well.
So the talent on offense was exaggerated, they don't run the ball well (except against Arizona). They are the most penalized team in the league with the most injuries and they don't have the talent to support a pocket QB.
Wilson is pressing in part because of the media and public humiliation and its snowballing!

This man said nathaniel hacket wasnt the worst problem. Most penalized team in the league, this team had no discipline nor direction. He had recievers bully him into go back into playing when they were taken out of the game. He just took plays he thought would work and never once looked at the type of players he had or had the slightest clue what made them good.
He consistently would go into half time and do mid game adjustments that made the team play WORST, how...
He was also notorious for ignoring things happening on the sidelines as coach he should have adressed. He refused to confront anyone and it killed the team.
I am relieved he is gone. Now can we look at a better conditioning coach. Since whats his face came on in 2018? We have had an increase of injuries per season.

Totally different deal!

    • @bwill887
      @bwill887 Год назад

I will acknowledge that the Broncos had to fire Hackett; the team has seemingly quit playing for him and he is the most expendable sacrifice here. That said, i don't know if the firing fixes anything. To be fair to Hackett, that QB and system he had in Green Bay probably contributed to some of the time management issues he had early in the season. While hiring a person to track this is a bit of a joke, it was a way to fix a known issue. Now we don't know whether Hackett could have grown in the job while the job itself appears to be unattractive. For the team, Wilson had a really bad season, there appears to be a distinct lack of rapport between the receiving corps and the QB, the O Line is not playing well, and there is no run game to turn to. Worse, given the lack of draft picks and cap space, I don't know how you fix the team other than praying that Wilson can come back. I don't know who is to blame here, but the entire team has had a role in this year (to be fair, the Defense has given up recently and was a positive most of the year). Will there be any coach willing to take this job given the unknowns with Wilson, the difficulty in rebuilding, and the lack of patience by ownership? I can imagine a new coach may try, but I don't know if you can get a better coordinator that has other options, as the damage this job can do to you is massive for a situation you cannot really control.

All these QB's were bad or underperforming prior to where they are now! You can't ignore all those proofs!!! No real leadership that coaches up the players in adversity.

How can a team have fight when you're giving a top dollar type contract to the worst player on your team? You can't preach accountability and fight when you have the face of the franchise being completely phony.
All the incidents showing bad culture, how can you say it's bigger than Russ? It's almost always related to him. Purcell yelling AT Russ. Rypien and Risner arguing because Rypien thought the oline should be helping RUSS get up.
Russ is the center of the team's problems.
The reason you didn't see read options and old russell wilson friendly schemes is because wilson didn't want to be that QB. He wanted to be considered an elite pocket passer so he could chase MVPs and strengthen his brand. If Russell Wilson was fine just doing the things that gave him success in this league, he never would have had friction with Pete Carroll.

I'm sorry, but I cannot take anyone seriously when they suggest trying a 64 yard field goal is better than going for it on fourth-and-5. The Broncos were actually moving the ball well in the opener. It was constant turnovers in the red zone, having to waste several timeouts because they couldn't get the play in quickly enough and a series of penalties that were the problem in that game. It was a sign of things to come. Wilson has been absolutely awful this year, but the thing that has been worse is the lack of accountability up and down the roster, terrible decision making from the sideline and a lack of discipline. Firing Hackett doesn't necessarily mean those things will change, but it's easier to fix a quarterback that is out of his comfort zone than the fix all those other things and the quarterback. There is plenty of blame to go around, but this is a very necessary first step

In the long term, no. Hackett wasn't the majority of the problem, and getting rid of him will only put a massive spotlight on who is the problem, Russel Wilson.
It's the QB who isn't showing up week in and week out, but you also paid the dude a quarter BILLION dollars, you can't simply cut the cord now, after finding out that prize catch was only a guppy that put up a good fight when you were reeling it in.

Nathaniel Hackett signed on preparing to be GB West with Aaron Rodgers.
Then when Denver made the move to get Russ and signed him to a huge contact- it became “Get to know a new dynamic mobile QB, and build a championship offense”
Then we found out what Russ actually is: he can’t move and he is inaccurate. Now the job is: “manage a game with a overrated has-been QB, so the defense can do it’s job”
That’s a Rex Ryan type job NOT a job for Nathaniel Hackett.

Going for the FG was the right decision. I know it got blown way out of proportion at the time. Broncos gave Russ 2 opportunities on 4th and goal in that game... and the team fumbled on the 1 yard line twice... Hackett lost faith in Russ after that. There was no reason for them to fail 3rd time on a 4th down. McManus also missed the FG by 1 yard. He had the leg.

He's the one that hired Hackett to try top lure Rodgers away, then made the panic trade for Wilson when he didn't get Rodgers AND gave Wilson that foolishly large contract when he still had two years left on his current contract. He took a huge mistake that would've ruined 1 or 2 seasons and made it into a catastrophe that will ruin 3, 4 or 5 seasons.
