I just looked up Blue Protocol and it's apparently being developed by Bandai Namco, which makes me wonder. Why the heck are Amazon Games publishing it? It's not like Bandai Namco have never published a game to a western market.
Server costs. The game is an MMO meaning that servers are needed and right now Amazon boasts one of, if not THE largest server farms in the world. Everyone offloads their server needs onto the likes of Amazon so they don't have to pay for the infrastructure or personnel or maintenance. I don't think Bandai has ever done an MMO on this scale so they're well outside their wheelhouse which may be where Amazon has the power to pull this shit. Maybe they have, maybe they haven't. It annoys me when censors use the "Well, it doesn't change the story! So why do you care?" argument. What is removed is small compared to holistic aspects of art pieces like the story. But these details are still an integral part of the overall experience and vision of an author, with no legitimate reason to be removed. The arbitrary nature of these post-production edits is a concerning president that every legitimate fan is going against, but that position is being strawman with gross accusations of being a criminal for daring to complain about the problem, coming from individuals who claim themselves to be "true fans". The reality is, that those companies try to appeal to the lowest common denominator, caring only about their profit, and being run by people with no interest in the industry they release products from. And people simply wanting to have accurate experience to other fans, have to suffer, because some gross adult from Amazon couldn't control his boner from rising when seeing "too revealing clothing" of kiddie-like characters. Why do companies not realize that people want the original version? The only change we want is the language. If that makes it 18+ go do that, its not like they can do anything about kids playing it anyway.

China censors less than the west now in regards to sexuality anyway. Mihoyo's other games like Honkai Impact have way more sexy costumes with bellybuttons, my theory for the censorship in Genshin is Sony as they hate well anything that isn't ugly as fuck.
More than that, Genshin Impact has in fact both censored their models (in some cases, multiple times) and made alternate outfits which are mandatory in some regions. (The United States doesn't seem to be one of those.) They still don't have any problems with jiggle physics, although they also have the excuse of using it for other things. My own theory for the censorship is that Genshin Impact is the one game that publisher makes where they're seriously doing research into other cultures during the creative process, even if not all of that remains intact in the end product, and by their own standards they're trying to be careful to start with.

"The level of censorship is usually where we find disagreements" Self-censorship by the creators is one thing. Virgin Blue Protocol censoring lolis vs based Blue Archive uncensoring lolis.
Self-censorship isn't good either, because you have to ask yourself the reason. If you feel the need to self-censor, there's probably a bigger overarching problem.
Removing the S body type would be like removing Lalafell from FF14, needless censorship like this and all of the recent puritan things, like Skullgirls, are killing gaming and I think that might be just what some of these creeps and bastards are trying to do. I hope all of this takes a full 180 and we start uncensoring nearly everything.
This here is why I will always want the first versions of physical games than go with updated versions. I have Skullgirls version 1.0 physical for Switch and if I want, I can reformat my Switch and keep the uncensored contents without updating it. When all is said and done, most collectors will rather have first prints of the games than go for the most updated versions if they're reprints.
Just so you bootlickers that argue it doesn't matter, many Yu-Gi-Oh! players begged Konami to *not* release Magi Magi Magician Gal after Takahashi's death in the West because it's release is only accepted if they censor her boobs and pentagram. Takahashi had had enough the censorship covering up his artwork on his creation and game and put a full stop on the card's release if it could not be released as it is and the fanbase have honored and respected the wish and hope for an uncensored release and Konami has thankfully listened and we still don't have the card. Not even in videogames like Duel Masters. We want Takahashi's work, we want his artwork, and we don't want anything less purely because we love him that much for the great game and anime that he gave us. The same applies to this situation here, it matters, purely because art should never be altered by any third party.
I really hate this because they do shit like this and it sells poorly because of the censorship then they use that to say "Well, it seems western audiences don't want this. Let's never give them anything like it again." No. We want it. We just don't want it to be censored.
Remember that Amazon gave a bunch of Steam users a VAC ban after not logging into Lost Ark for a long time. I advise you to rethink trying this game out of curiosity. As someone who felt like a target audience for this purroduct, I can't see myself playing this now. I wonder how many other audiences will clamor onto it though...?
The only time I can accept somewhat censorship is when they put a option for streamers to stream the game. An OPTION meaning you're not force to have censorship and you can play the game uncernsored. Overall I hate censorship in general and the worst is, as a European we usually take the blow from the US even tho we're more lenient about it, sometimes we do manage to avoid it but not everytime.
Rating Systems are commonly known for being ignored, as 9 years old permeate the 17+ CoD lobbies, yet they must achieve the T rating by any means necessary when the game would have got a 17+ at worst as well. Yeah, I don't believe rating was the issue here.
I dont understand the thought process of "we must censor this so it doesn't upset potential players." The people who are interested in the game would generally be anime fans or fans of Japanese style games. You don't need to censor the game to appeal to its target audience.

Man it's almost like they've never heard of a censorship option/slider. So many games out there have a nudity, blood and gore, or profanity button that you can toggle on or off. Just ask for age on account creation and censor accordingly. "But people can lie about their age..." Yeah but legally you did your part and it's not your responsibility to have people prove it. Most adult sites ask for your age but you can literally say whatever and it doesn't matter cuz they legally were only required to ask not prove.
But offloading onto Amazon servers definitely would be a reason for this overreach.

Seriously, what is next? Text-based-only reworks of any Japanese media, with very graphic descriptions of any small characters wearing burqas just to make sure they are not making any males uncomfortable?

Don't accept censorship at all costs
Remember anything from Korea or Japan coming here gets censored and ruined almost 100% of the time. It's always best to play the original.
Thing is I heard the Jp servers are banning western gamers.
And if that doesn't work then mod the game however one sees fit.
Damn shame I can't read or speak Japanese or Korean.
Thus the problem.
Amen

wow, I didn’t realize short women don’t exist in the west, thank you Amazon for censoring that so I didn’t have to see a short person in my game!
Nikke's massive western market success with a T rating would like to have a talk with Amazon Game Studios.

“I would like to purchase this game.”

Sad thing is, even if they revert all the visual censorship, the dialogue will most definitely stay censored/localized
They should include the original so we have a comparison.
@@DudeSoWin doubt they'd do that, even FF14 doesn't do that, the Jap version is different from the localized version too. And subtitles in games match up to the English audio so even if you play it with Japanese audio you're still reading the english version of the script. I don't know enough japanese to go without subtitles but I know enough to know when the subtitles don't match what's being said. FF14, Xenoblade chronicles and many more are guilty of this when it comes to storytelling and dialog.
The game was already lost as soon as Amazon got involved
Now we know the reason for all the delays. When I heard Amazon games was involved I knew they would mess it up
And some of these newly released games don't use Amazon
What a shame. I was looking forward to the game so hard for so long. Bandai Namco had better put a stop to this, NOW. they need to threaten to pull the license from Amazon if they do not cease and desist and revert this crap. IMMEDIATELY.
We need to ALL be emailing Amazon and Namco, Amazon to show our displeasure and willingness to boycott, and Namco to tell them about all the money they will miss out on if they do not force Amazon to reverse course.
"The level of censorship is usually where we find disagreements"
Self-censorship by the creators is one thing. But censoring a product you didnt create "for the global audience" is NEVER a good thing. If I buy a Japanese game and play a Japanese game, I expect that game to be JAPANESE.

Why would they replace skirts with loose pants? They are objectively much less cute...
That's what they don't understand and don't WANT to understand.
@@Maldor313 And that's why they have to be removed from the equation by all means necessary.
Their Translations are awful too. Always mirroring and mimicking, ignorant and distasteful.
@@DudeSoWin They should never be allowed to localize anything ever again.
email the devs about it.
So, will westerners be able to play the full game through japanese launcher, or have they blocked western world from the servers?
they block western IP's and VPN's if you somehow get past it they'll eventually ban your account. A private server is your only hope.
Remember that Amazon gave a bunch of Steam users a VAC ban after not logging into Lost Ark for a long time. I advise you to rethink trying this game out of curiosity.
It doesn't really matter what the reasoning is. Legal, moral or whatever - all I care is that censorship exists at all. I already forgot about BP once, when censorship was first revealed a while ago, I'll forget about it again.
lmao they think blue protocol is bad and want to censor it? have they ever once looked at phantasy star online 2?
As someone who felt like a target audience for this purroduct, I can't see myself playing this now. I wonder how many other audiences will clamor onto it though...?

What happened to an option that allowed censorship to be turned on/off?
Meanwhile the movie "Cuties" exist .....
Can we sue these people? Seriously. Censorship is no bueno.
Amazon more concerned about 4 puritans complaining on Twatter than whether their employees can afford rent.
I dont understand the thought process of "we must censor this so it doesn't upset potential players." The people who are interested in the game would generally be anime fans or fans of Japanese style games. You don't need to censor the game to appeal to its target audience.
