  • Mexico Is Building Biggest Airport In American Continent - Mexico Future Mega Project
    Mexico City's New International Airport was announced by Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto on September 2, 2014, and is the largest public infrastructure mega project in a century. The new airport will replace current Benito Juárez International Airport, the busiest airport in Latin America transporting 41.7 million passengers in 2016
    This $13 U.S. Billion-dollar airport is expected to begin operations in 2020 with three runways in operation simultaneously and a passenger capacity of 50 million per year. When fully completed, it will have two terminals and six runways with an annual passenger capacity of 125 million , making it the second largest airport in the world today.
    The architecture :
    The entrance to the terminal will feature a garden of cacti and symbols of the eagle and snake, part of the national symbol pictured on the country's Coat of Arms and flag.
    The X is symbolic of the country's name, "México". An X-shape is also considered efficient to extend the number of gates. The X shape is used in the airports of Abu Dhabi, Mumbai, Nairobi, Pittsburgh, and Incheon.
    The roof is airy, lightweight, and made of membrane.
    designed to be the world’s most sustainable airport, the compact single terminal uses less materials and energy than a cluster of buildings. the design ensures short walking distances and few level changes.
    The terminal is to be sustainable, aiming for a LEED Platinum certification.The project claims it is "designed to be the world’s most sustainable airport".

      Una cosa es el turismo y otra cosa es migración. ¿Te imaginas lo que darían otros países por tener el turismo que tiene México? por eso casi todos los países del mundo promueven el turismo que ofrece su país.
      Tú confundes turismo con colonización que son palabras muy distintas. Cuando vas de turista a un país no te quedas y te adueñas de todo lo que hay ahí.
      Además no es que solo porque naces en un país quiere decir que ya eres dueño de todo. El mundo es para todos, todos son bienvenidos a México y todos los mexicanos son bienvenidos al mundo.

    • @idaviation
      @idaviation 6 лет назад +10

      Frank K yes, due to its centric position in the Americas, destinations will open within north and South America as well as Europe and Asia. In the first year of operation, the airport is expected to have a jump in traffic of up to 20-30%. Last year Mexico City had 44M passengers, with 3M passenger increase, so if the tendency continues, by the time the airport opens (2021) it will get about 55-60M passengers if that 20-30% increase happens.

    • @ahuehuete4703
      @ahuehuete4703 6 лет назад

      True, but what percentage of visitors drive across the border? The San Ysidro crossing is one of the busiest in the world: 15,000,000 cars and 8,000,000 pedestrians. As for being a hub to South and Central America, it already has competition: Houston and Miami come to mind. Don't get me wrong, I believe the new airport will attract new traffic, I'm just a bit skeptical that it can become the biggest airport in the Americas.

      There are 4 phases, Phase #1 will be completed by 2020, Phase #4 will be completed by 2050.

      The airport will open in 2020. Unfortunately the entire airport with all terminals and runways open is going to open between 2050 and 2060.

    • @cafarellano9340
      @cafarellano9340 6 лет назад

      King Muffin No, the Phase 1 (one terminal and three runways) will be finished by October, 2020. The rest (another three runways, a second terminal and two satellite terminals) will be constructed depending on how much the demand grows.

      It is supposed to have first its X-shaped terminal, then its satellite, then a second Y-shaped terminal and finally a second satellite, that's why it'll take so long.

      ahhdavy it’s the master plan, the airport will be completed in 2021, but the master plan in different phases will be competed until 2065, just like brand new airports and American airports following those plans.

    Title makes it seem like the airport is being built in the United States, should have added an “s” so it made the word “Americas.”

      So what their is violence and widespread poverty in every country. Just look at Philadelphia, Oakland, Chicago the cities in the U.S with the most homicides. This is Mexico's only megaproject in a century. It's a megaproject fit and needed for a megacity that is the heartbeat for the country and economy.

    Fun fact the project for the new Mexico City airport is not even in Mexico City is in the closest State and to make this airport reachable to most of the actual CDMX citizens would be necessary to build new roads, metro, and direct public transportation that is also as cheap as it is today, when you can get to the airport for .25USD$ metro and for .10USD$ on electric buses, now fun fact none of this so necessary urban infrastructure is under construction at this moment nor there's known plans for it, maybe that is why this project looks stupidly unnecessary and awfully planned, plus all the corruption that is behind the project itself before, during and must probably after, this is why there should be referendums for all this superprojects

    • @dannhymir9678
      @dannhymir9678 6 лет назад +1

      There are talks and plans for transportation to and from the airport including roads and public transportation. The details are not public, but I wouldn't see why they would build an airport further away at considerable costs without considering a way to get there. As it is there are already bullet trains and high speed rail completed recently or under construction from Mexico CIty to other nearby major cities, so I don't see how it would be a problem to build public transportation to the new airport which is much closer to CDMX.

      Alberto Vargas What's your point, the urban conurbation of Mexico city extends into several states. The airport is on very close proximity to the current airport. You make it seems as if those bordering starts were far away. After all Mexico city is surrounded by state like Washington dc

      SOME U.S. airports. Most are outdated. Denver is the newest airport the U.S . has, and construction was finished in the early 1990s (it's also one of the easiest to use and get around). Boston Logan isn't bad, neither is Dulles in Washington D.C. The rest however...

    This airport could be called by the new government AMLO . The reason is because is located in a dangerous place, that before was a lake , and also AMLO is going to check deeply if is corruption in this proyecto, because the cost went up more than they supost before.
