For a start, Gig apps should pay the independent contractor (the driver) same as what France passed for new 2024 rates: $1.70 per mile for the vehicle (or 1 Euro per Km) AND minimum $0.55 cents (or Euros) PER MINUTE for driver's TIME/effort. And those rates should run like a stopwatch on the phones on every second & miles (Km) driven, separately like an old taxy cab meter. Talk of hourly wage is relevant -- if the vehicle ( a company car), fuel, maintenance, insurance & etc provided by rideshare COMPANY only -- currently none of the vehicles are by rideshare companies, it's all driver owned. hence pay drivers how France is charging the passenger/customer, the old taxi company way. Uber & Lyft charge the driver .24 cents from every dollar for insurance when driver only makes 90 cents per mile on most times & zero cents per minute...and who in the right mind would agree to a $2500 insurance deductible? What Uber doing is what Craigslist is doing for free. But, Door Dash, Lyft, Uber's cut (trip take rate) is between 35% to 85% from passenger payment, unbelievable.

Most of the drivers are here on tourist visas and since you don't have to be a legal citizen they work for uber/lyft and door dash. They come here to make money and send it back home to their country and leave and then come back to make money again.
Why is that incorrect? Literally if you subtract money going to driver from the money out of the customer’s pocket - that’s going to Uber. I don’t care if you’re not profiting 100% of that, that’s not the point. You think all the money going to the driver is profit? Gas? Maintenance?
its all for uber to grow and not for drivers to grow - after all uber's business plan was not in favor of drivers anyhow - time to go human app platform (rideshare by the books) - all features specifically made to keep 75/80% in the driver's pocket - plus no star system and no deactivations - as for riders choose drivers and cars and prices before requesting a ride as well as when they are offline - as well as shop while riding a driver - not to mention more choices among vehicle types - time to go human!
No impact is a big lie because I observed the area I'm in for drivers both Lyft and Uber were offering super high surges/bonuses for a huge area in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas they've never done before. There was an impact but in a sense for Ubers money probably little. However, time will tell when their stock drops again.

The strike is supposed to be from 11-1? more stupidity. if you want to hurt them why are you offering half measures? if your gonna strike then strike. but, unfortunetly there will always be those who will try to capitalize on the shortage of drivers. No one is forcing you to drive for uber or work for any of these companies. with all that said i agree with all the complaints, but as i stated if you dont like it , hit the bricks. I am an og driver here in las vegas, I have driven for uber for 8.5 years, and yes it has been a race to the bottom, however, the freedom factor is great, i can go out work when there is money to be made, and when it's not busy put my efforts into other pursuits. I also get the fact that in vegas we are constantly busy, however i dont want to be busy for gas money , if there is no money on the table i dont work.I would argue that in vegas we are the busiest destination in the US,maybe the world. so i can understand how hard it could be to work in pigs nuckle , arkansas. but , if i wasnt making descent money I would do something else. anyways, happy trails, may you find many surges to make money !

And the rides are way more expensive now. It's because all the drivers demanded benefits and other offerings like a normal job while still wanting to be contractors. Can't have it both ways. i made cash in phoenix, but they dropped the wage per mile and increased their take.. had to stop..

I always find it hilarious in these situations when people make a stink about unfair wages... Especially in this particular case. If you don't like the wages, go find another job. Unemployment right now is close to an all-time low at 3.7%. They could easily find another job where they're not paying for gas and wear & tear on their car. Some people don't have the ability to think outside the box-- and the folks in this report pretty much prove it.

My problem with Uber is when I pay $25.00 and the driver gets only $15.00. It says one thing in my app and another thing on their app. They keep changing CEOs but nothing changed.

Why is that incorrect? Literally if you subtract money going to driver from the money out of the customer’s pocket - that’s going to Uber. I don’t care if you’re not profiting 100% of that, that’s not the point. You think all the money going to the driver is profit? Gas? Maintenance?
does these uber drivers gave a chance to yellow taxi drivers to earn a fair living.
its all for uber to grow and not for drivers to grow - after all uber's business plan was not in favor of drivers anyhow - time to go human app platform (rideshare by the books) - all features specifically made to keep 75/80% in the driver's pocket - plus no star system and no deactivations - as for riders choose drivers and cars and prices before requesting a ride as well as when they are offline - as well as shop while riding a driver - not to mention more choices among vehicle types - time to go human!

So about 2 weeks ago i sign up for Lyft which Lyft uses the same background company that uber uses and i passed the background with no issues. Uber support then stated that there was nothing they could do in regards to it. Uber is a complete freaking joke and they do not care about there Drivers at all. Hope uber goes out of business.
