Remember when taxi drivers were protesting that the rideshares were taking away their business. The taxis had to have medallions but rideshares didn't. The rideshares said we aren't competing with you. We are just allowing people with a car to earn extra money driving people around. The purpose of Uber & Lyft was for people to earn extra cash and not a full time job. I did Uber a few years ago just to earn and save some cash. With income taxes and gas, it no longer was worth it so I stopped.

As most do. Protesting is a lot of effort for zero results. The best example was the Wall Street protests “occupy Zuccati park”. I pictured the Wall Street executives on the 88 floor in a marble office drinking champagne looking down on the protesters “how do we get these asses out of here?” Next executive “it’s November now right? Then December, January. It will be -10 degrees in the sun! Leave them there. Let Mother Nature work for us”. And sure enough. And, as I was saying earlier-all for nothing. Nothing changed.

That's all nice an everything, but maybe you can learn to not type with caps. You could also open your eyes and see that Uber has been profiting off people for years while ironically being called an unprofitable company on the stock market for a long time now. This isnt my opinion this is based off facts and math, they have a board of directors making huge salaries including the CEO himself, there's no reason they cant pay drivers adequately, and in my personal opinion Id like to just keep having the convenience of Uber & Lyft. Now when you finally grow up and gain some maturity and stop typing in caps youll also notice that there's jobs out in the world that may not seem worthy to keep yet they may be somewhat essential to your day. Like a Starbucks coffee or having your grass trimmed on the property you'll never own, telling people to get different jobs is not the answer.

I agree with you to a certain extent but I'm just like you I don't rely on these companies but the truth is the reality is when people need to feed their families while applying for as many jobs as possible they can only take what is available at that time until they find something better I have my CDL class A license I've driven trucks and now drive school buses and I don't rely on Uber I definitely use them for side cash but our companies need to get held accountable for deceptive practices and not being fully transparent and flat out lying to employees in order to lure them in . 💯 So you are right leave the companies and find a better one wow working on an extra strategy to start your own business but at the same time if you feel you have been mistreated it doesn't matter what the job is if a company has done you wrong as an employee in accordance to state and federal law another option while you are leaving to another company or your own business or whatever is to file a lawsuit for legal ramifications and I'm speaking in general and I know from experience because I've already won several lawsuits against companies and was rightfully so which is why the judge awarded me the money and on another case the company settle because they know that a lot of people don't have the courage or intelligence or awareness or finances to take them to court. So for the most part we see eye to eye I feel you bro. What a lot of people outside of us don't understand is how to agree to disagree respectfully because at the end of the day it's all perspective 💯🙏🏾✌🏾😇

I was halfway to her destination, found the nearest parking lot and dropped her off. Uber deactivated me. They said I should not discriminate. I said, this is my car, I don't want to transport illegal immigrants. Riders have no ID and can't be confirmed as who they say they are. That's super dangerous as a driver. The strike is supposed to be from 11-1? more stupidity. if you want to hurt them why are you offering half measures? if your gonna strike then strike. but, unfortunetly there will always be those who will try to capitalize on the shortage of drivers. No one is forcing you to drive for uber or work for any of these companies. with all that said i agree with all the complaints, but as i stated if you dont like it , hit the bricks. I am an og driver here in las vegas, I have driven for uber for 8.5 years, and yes it has been a race to the bottom, however, the freedom factor is great, i can go out work when there is money to be made, and when it's not busy put my efforts into other pursuits. I also get the fact that in vegas we are constantly busy, however i dont want to be busy for gas money , if there is no money on the table i dont work.I would argue that in vegas we are the busiest destination in the US,maybe the world. so i can understand how hard it could be to work in pigs nuckle , arkansas. but , if i wasnt making descent money I would do something else. anyways, happy trails, may you find many surges to make money !

For a start, Gig apps should pay the independent contractor (the driver) same as what France passed for new 2024 rates: $1.70 per mile for the vehicle (or 1 Euro per Km) AND minimum $0.55 cents (or Euros) PER MINUTE for driver's TIME/effort. And those rates should run like a stopwatch on the phones on every second & miles (Km) driven, separately like an old taxy cab meter. Talk of hourly wage is relevant -- if the vehicle ( a company car), fuel, maintenance, insurance & etc provided by rideshare COMPANY only -- currently none of the vehicles are by rideshare companies, it's all driver owned. hence pay drivers how France is charging the passenger/customer, the old taxi company way.
Uber & Lyft charge the driver .24 cents from every dollar for insurance when driver only makes 90 cents per mile on most times & zero cents per minute...and who in the right mind would agree to a $2500 insurance deductible? What Uber doing is what Craigslist is doing for free. But, Door Dash, Lyft, Uber's cut (trip take rate) is between 35% to 85% from passenger payment, unbelievable.

Unemployment right now is close to an all-time low at 3.7%. They could easily find another job where they're not paying for gas and wear & tear on their car. Some people don't have the ability to think outside the box-- and the folks in this report pretty much prove it.

So about 2 weeks ago i sign up for Lyft which Lyft uses the same background company that uber uses and i passed the background with no issues. Well today i redownloaded the uber driving app to give them a second chance and when logging in it said my account was deactivated. Uber support then stated that there was nothing they could do in regards to it. Uber is a complete freaking joke and they do not care about there Drivers at all. Hope uber goes out of business.
