7:55 good data point :) I've tried free shipping on my store before (~2,000 items) and did not see a difference so I went back to shipping on top.

7:25 Some postcards can be fairly unique/rare.
Do you think that postcard buyers filter out paid shipping so that they can only see listings with free shipping?
I charge for shipping on my listings ($1.50 for postcards) and I am thinking that for rare items or in demand items (not all postcards are that), that charging a little extra for the item, by adding shipping on top, is the way to go. Instead of having the item at $20 with free shipping, I will have it listed at $20 + $4.99 shipping.
    Cheers,
    Julien

It makes more sense to have it 2499 with free shipping. If that’s the price you wanna hit not because buyers will be filtering their search results but because by offering free shipping, you’re gonna get more search impressions that organically occur so any tertiary keywords that might result in the sale would get more search results ergo you’re gonna get more impressions ergo you’re gonna have a higher sell thru rate

Although we really are getting into the weeds, it almost never makes any sense to postcard for 25 bucks because you’re gonna be making less profit than if you would sold it for 1999 and shipped it in an envelope. There’s a dead zone of profitability that is created by the, cost of ground advantage shipping, and the additional fees you pay since you pay fees on the total amount regardless of shipping cost

    • @WBKnoblock
      @WBKnoblock  4 месяца назад +2

2499 might not specifically be a point where it makes more sense to go under 20 bucks but I think you get the point I’m making where there’s a dead zone that should be avoided

@@WBKnoblock Good points. My $20 example was not postcard specific. But yes, it makes sense to ship trading cards/postcards via eBay standard envelope when you are around the $20 zone instead of USPS ground advantage.
      Cheers, Julien

@@psg1975 Yes it does but alot of times the envelope shipping never gets the delivered scan when the envelope gets delivered and scammers will r👁b you blind if they get the (chance) envelope but it's not showing up as delivered on febay. Meaning they could open up an item not delivered case and if you don't have money in your seller acc to cover febay will take it from yr bank acc or cc on file until case is resolved but 9 times out of 10 if the shipping service you use does not get that last delivered scan when item is delivered your stuck refunding the buyer if they want to scam you. Hope that makes sense. I wouldn't even use envelope shipping for a $1 card unless I knew the buyer but I also will cancel any order with feedback under 100 or if there address smells fishy or I find negative feedback or even if I'm getting a bad vibe about the sale. Just put the reasoning for canceling the order under wrong shipping address so you don't get dinged by febay. Oh ya more than likely you'll have to block them as well & take the item down for a bit but it's better than taking a complete loss plus the time lost taking the photos and making the listing. But even using all those tricks to avoid scammers, doesn't mean they won't try to do a charge back on their card saying they don't recognize the purchase and that's why you want to use febay shipping labels with a shipping level (NOTenv) that guarantees that final "Delivered" scan showing the item you sold to the buyer was actually delivered to cover your a**. Ok that said r u ready to start selling febay or any other online site yet..... Lol! Sorry! Just a heads up bout febay & thats just a beginners course lol! But seriously they just make it so easy for scammers it's disgust_ipating & hatt hereing bout people gettn scammed..!!

This is very interesting data. I’ve tried reaching the point of listing every day but haven’t achieved that goal. eBay is secondary after my one-woman pet sitting biz. (I’m also POA for my nonverbal sister in a care home). I’ve tried taking my inventory to overnight gigs to photograph and list but dragging breakables around is a PITA.
So what’s the solution? I’ve been wracking my brain to find a niche that is easy to list, that’s portable and easy to ship. I know you’ve talked about postcards multiple times but the wires never connected that that would be a good fit for me! I love old postcards and is a good fit with my vintage store vibe.
(I had sooo many cool postcards and vintage family photos collected from estate sales but meth-heads burglarized my home while I was moving from Houston, stealing all my packed boxes!)
I appreciate if you’ve read this far. I’ll go back and watch any video you’ve posted about postcards. I need to find a source locally.
Blake, you got me started on my eBay journey, after two years of sitting on my thumb vacillating on it. I’m forever grateful to you.

I get that this is an endorsement for listing consistently every day, but is it also a listing for ending and selling similar? I'm guessing yes.

I didn’t test that, but yes I don’t think you get the new listing tag on relists.

@@WBKnoblockare you saying ‘sell similar’ as the OP asked, is recognized the same as relisting? I hear conflicting answers to that question.

@@brendatomlinson I mean that selling similar gets a “new listing” tag and relisting doesn’t, as far as I know. But I haven’t tested it.
