Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. Haven’t filmed at Manchester Piccadilly for over three years now and much has been changing there since the last time I filmed which involved the new operators taking over the franchises of both the West Coast rail and the railways in Wales and new units for Northern and TPE in passenger service. Therefore, I used this chance to get some shots. All of this was done in 45 minutes during a cloudy Tuesday afternoon. There was the usual passenger along with a single freight passing through. Plus, there was a sudden surprise too because rail unit 350408 who is at the moment still in operation for TPE working on a service to Glasgow received London Northwestern Railway livery bound to be transferred to West Midlands Trains some point later this year. Hope you all enjoy this!
Trains include: Avanti West Coast Pendolino’s, CrossCountry Voyagers, Transpennine Express 185’s, 802209 ‘Nova 1’ and 350408 in London Northwestern livery, Transport for Wales 175’s, East Midlands Railway 153’s & 156, Northern 142’s, 150’s, 195’s, 319’s, 323 & 331’s and DB Cargo (EWS) 66125

I joined the Railway 1 week before it was split up I have known so many train companies come and go but one thing you never forget even after being in the States for 10 years now is the sound of A 142 entering Man Pic ...Brings back so many Memories.

Why was there a London NorthWesternRailway at Manchester Piccadilly!?
How did a 350 get to Manchester? Didn’t even know London north western railway came to Manchester
Been in service for TPE for 5yrs before going to the Midlands.
They got them after the chat moss was electrified.

Nikola Tesla Quite simply, it needs a St Pancras style makeover to both update it and increase capacity.
I notice a lack of bells and horns blasting all the time like we have here in the U.S.
I visited Spain and the UK in November and I was hoping to hear some horns but I feel its frowned upon so as to keep the noise pollution at a minimum. I really wanted to hear some sexy European horns.

Why does Britain have so many diesel-powered passenger trains in operation? Is that because of cheap North Sea oil?
We have not electrified vast sections of our rail network.
@@christopherflack7629 How come? Wouldn't running electric trains cheaper than diesel ones?
@@alooga555 electrifying the entire rail network would cost billions, really no point especially with HS2 underway which has two phases and will cost over £50 billion.
No the government just doesn’t like spending money on the north go look at London and see the difference

No it’s a Transpennine Train, they were currently in the stage of transferring the 350/4s to LNWR, hence the LNWR livery

Yeah...I know TFW are loathe to lose revenue by putting the 175 `s in for redoing....vinyl recovering over the arriva wales colour...(which I prefer tbh) the new loivery is dull...nothing to show its Welsh Rail ...even a nice dragon motif by drivers cab would be summat...

The first First TransPennine Express Class 350/4 services ran on 30 December 2013 between Manchester Piccadilly and Glasgow Central.[16] The trains operate from Manchester Airport and Preston to Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley.
All ten trains have been delivered to TransPennine Express allowing most services on the Manchester to Scotland route to be operated using EMUs.

Avanti West Coast took over from Virgin in December. Avanti are still in the process of applying their livery.
