The contradictions between colleges, Uni and Government were bloody disastrous. The uncertainty was so intense I couldn’t believe I made it back home until I hugged my parents. Stay safe!
Really has demonstrated how ineffective some systems of government and administrations are. Complete lack of unity and disastrously myopic stances from England has left me feeling horrible for Uni students and those in precarious situations from all age groups 😕

Ich wollte dir nur sagen, dass ich wirklich verstehe, wie stressig die ganze Situation ist, wenn man im Ausland studiert. Ich mache zur Zeit ein Erasmussemester in Italien und musste entscheiden, ob und wie ich abreisen möchte. Ich habe einen Zug nach Rom und einen Flug nach Deutschland gebucht (mit Eurowings) und hoffe, dass ich Ende nächster Woche noch mit meinen ca. 50 kg Gepäck irgendwie nach Hause komme. Ich musste meinen Drucker verkaufen und eine zusätzliche Reisetasche kaufen. Alles schwierig, da in es in Italien längst eine Ausgangssperre gibt und kein Geschäft mehr geöffnet hat, außer Supermärkte und Apotheken. Ja, es geht sicher vielen Leuten momentan schlechter, aber das bedeutet nicht, dass du dir nicht auch Sorgen machen darfst und traurig sein darfst, wenn dein Flug gestrichen wird. Ich hoffe du bist in der Zwischenzeit gut nach Hause gekommen!
Juli omg bei mir einfach das gleiche. Bin auch in meinem Erasmussemester und mein Flug wurde einfach gecancelt und dazu noch über 50 Kilo Gepäck 😥

Watching this I am immediately put back to me basically fleeing my lab at uni (I was at the end of my bachelor thesis), basically packing up my life in one afternoon and driving home to my parents in the middle of the night😂 Over 1,5h years later I can laugh about this but during that time it was so incredibly stressful and just watching your video made me relive that insane chaos 🙈

Hey! Saying that I've enjoyed this video might sound weird, considering what you went through BUT I always look forward to watching your videos, so I was very happy to see another upload. I'm so sorry the situation got so messed up for you. You've really handled it well, though. I hope that you're home now, and that everything worked out eventually. Stay safe and let's hope the coronavirus won't bother us much longer.
Didn't know you where from stuttgart/surroundings aswell :) was smart of you to go home. I wish I had done that too. However my university also advised us to stay and they literally did it until the last minute. My course also wasn't giving us propper information about how assignments, presentations and exhibitions will be dealt with and said they will inform us on such and such date and that date was so late that once I had all the information I needed and was told what would happen they had already suspended all air travel to Stuttgart and the only flights left to germany were to frankfurt, very expensive and only with layovers so at least 18hrs to get there (and obv with no garantie that the flight would actually happen). Also had a similar issue with getting all my stuff back if I would leave so I had to face the fact that I would be staying in my halls. So yeah, that's where I am, all by myself and I absolutely hate it😂 so yeah I'm really glad you managed to go home ;)
So happy for you that you managed all of this in these trying times! Here in Bavaria me and my roommate arrived for the next semester two weeks ago, but it has been suspended until 20 April. We're stuck at home all day at this point and we probably won't be able to go home for months now. But at least the weather is good, we've got eachother and are still in the same country. Just know you're not alone, we're all in this together! 🤗

Hi sweetie !! I feel you... here in Italy there are thousands of students that can't go home. My best friend is spending the quarantine in Turin with her flatmates, six hours of train far from our city... in this period we can't move to avoid further contagion.. we have to be patient and wait. More than 4000 people already died in less than 15 days here in Italy.. this nightmare will finish with the collaboration of every of us.

@elena I'm staying at uni in Glasgow, mainly because I know if I go back to my mum and dad's, I'll want to see my grandma and granddad and I'm not allowed to, because they're >70.

I have cried so much this week it's a miracle that I haven't flooded my own flat... I live with panic disorder and depression. We'll be ok.

I miss university videos and can only imagine how much students miss their university experiences. I am curious...are all those things still in storage in Cambridge, waiting for you to come back? If you go back will you get the same room and roommate or is all of that still very much up in the air? Totally understandable if it is. I was in similar situation 2 years ago .. without an apartment when I come back and I had to put all my stuff in a storage room. There was no one to help in packing. I had almost 2 times your luggage. I had to return the car and had a flight next day early morning at 5am. It was stressful .. sometimes we have to deal with it .. can’t do anything ..😔

Elena, I really get you. I'm Italian and I'm a university student as well, my university is in a city far from home. I was so lucky because I came home one month ago for a break of one week and then all happened in North Italy and I decided that was safer if I stayed home. Now I'm stuck at home. Yes, I'm so lucky because I'm with my family, but only the thought of not knowing if I will go back to the city where I study, or if I will take my exams, or that all my stuff, all my books, clothes, my pc are there and I can't have them here for studying.
The only thing that I can tell you, is that you understood perfectly the situation, some countries are not managing this emergency as they should. Be safe and take care of your mental health as well, we will all do great. It is going to be ok♥️

Hey Elena, ich schreib dir auf deutsch, da mein Englisch nicht ganz so gut ist. An dem Tag, an dem du dieses Video hochgeladen hast, hatte ich im Prinzip das gleiche Problem wie du. Nur, dass ich nicht in einem anderen Land zur Uni gehe, sondern etwa 450 km von zuhause weg. Ich bin auch auf Hilfe von anderen angewiesen gewesen, meine Sachen von A nach B zu transportieren. Ihre Führerschein ist das etwas schwierig. Aber deine Situation stell ich mir wirklich sehr sehr schwer vor.
Hab jetzt bis hierher so gut wie alle Videos deines Kanals geschaut und du motivierst unheimlich mit deinem Content.

Thankfully, I managed to reach home, as I am also an international student abroad. But until I managed to do so, I was so so so anxious, I thought I wouldn’t reach home and see my family and that I would be stuck in a country with a bad healthcare and with people who hate internationals. The scenarios were just in my head and I was thinking about what could go wrong, basically everything. But I managed and I thank the Lord that I did. I am now back. I am so sorry you had to go through all this, it seems like hell and ai know for a fact I would be having panic attacks if I had to do this. Plus, you were by yourself. But I hope you managed to make it to Germany 😊 you deserve it so much
It’s the same in Netherlands. I’m working home, following lessons via zoom en buy everything (incl. food) with delivery. It feels like reading one of the old-fashioned Ray Bradbury novels.
and trust me, we as flight and cabin crew, we do not have such great conditions for self-isolation and we do go to work regardless to get thousands of you back home to your families

I was pretty worried in the first 6:07 when it looked like you would have to stay at cambridge away from home. But lemme tell you if you would have to stay that would have been completely fine and my prayers would have been present for you. My elder sister studies in a medical college in the other side of India and i was completely against the idea of her travelling all the way home. I would have suggested her to stay there for her own safety if there were proper food supplies till that date. But i am really glad she came back home before we realised the next day that the flights were completely cut down. In case you felt you were alone, you always have our love, support and best wishes. I am really glad you got to go home. Be safe 💟

Hey, Elena, experiencing the exact same situation now as what you went through, been alone for few months and just managed to back home at summer holiday, the flight has been cancelled three times... Kind of devasteted emotionally and could feel how desperate you were at that moment. Anyway wish me luck🤞🏼

I‘m german and I study in Poland.
Luckily I got an early notice from my university and was able to leave a few days before the border was closed.
But many international students weren’t as lucky as me..
also I’m really concerned about how we all are going to finish the term/semester and take our exam.

Austria is getting all its ppl home, maybe you could get a flight to Austria, and then take a train, you should be able to go over the boarder, but you would have to be in quarantine for two weeks after being in Austria
Germany has closed all boarders except to the BeNeLux countries, so I net train services have been cancelled, too
@@SummerBreeze08100 im not sure about Germany. but most countries haven't closed the boarders for there own citizens. so one could still take a train to the boarder, go over the boarder ,then take a train.

Thanks for the vlog and for being honest with how you feel! It really helps me to move on with my own life. I am a student too in Hungary and my school was canceld a week and a half ago too.
