In Turkey we call it Pişmaniye. Pişman means full og regret. We have a saying about the candy that goes those who eat it will regret it (because it's so messy to eat) and so will those who do not eat it(because it's yummy)

It's made quite differently. You don't actually use cornstarch. If you watch the traditional process it's just pulling extremely hot taffy basically.
