  • Children today are spending less and less time exploring the great outdoors. How can we create outdoor environments that both excite children and enhance their development? Lukas Ritson is the Co-founder of Wearthy, a playground designer and educator. His work has touched the lives of tens of thousands of children Australia-wide. Lukas has collaborated with childcare centres, schools, community nature-based events, and has also presented keynote talks on the importance of play in Finland, the United States and across Australia. Keeping children curious, creative and confident through offering the adventurous childhood they deserve is the principle that elevates Lukas’ play environments. Lukas believes that play should be a holistic experience for children - one that fosters connection, encourages resilience, and cultivates compassion. His innovative playground designs emphasise sustainable, quality materials, as they create a healthy stage for limitless learning opportunities. In his talk, Lukas wants to share his own experience living with ADHD and how it helps him design playgrounds that support the development and well-being of children. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

The real fact of resilience in children is that it is the ability to bounce back from adversity, adapt to change, and effectively cope with challenges by developing emotional, cognitive, and behavioral skills, often fostered through supportive relationships and a nurturing environment. Resilience enables children to maintain positive well-being and thrive despite difficult circumstances.

I am so happy to find this, I have been citing you since 2015 (or 16), after attending your PD on Risk/Challenge-based play. I was discussing that PD with a fellow teacher this morning and came hunting for something to share with her! It would be wonderful if you could create something about designing small space experiences, that promote the play cycle FOR Children (rather than for the aesthetic benefit for Parents). Your message is exactly what needs to reach Inspired Policy-makers, Curriculum-writers, Company owners and Inspired Educators and Teachers!! Thank you for your work.

Most of the people give wise suggestion, without having any child raised, or even ever got married.
