    Wish they offered a non date version. Otherwise its a hell of alot cheaper than a Hamilton.

      I'm a no-date guy for sure but there's so many numbers on this dial, I find this date to be fine. Dare I say... I even like it. 😮

    I think Baltany has made a name for themselves making military inspired field watches. They really hit way above their price range.
    Excellent review and i like the point you made the some brands like Tandorio are half the price but certainly not as refined as Baltany.

      Totally agree. They just have the attention to detail that the cheaper brands lack.

    The khaki 38 field auto is my all time favorite watch. This is a shockingly good copy. The thing that bugs me about it though is the thickness. The hammy is muchthinner with a longer lug to lug with a slightly smaller case diameter at 38mm. Otherwise this looks great. It actually has a feature i would prefer over the original: a brushed bezel

    This one has a very strong hamilton khaki vibe. looks best on a vintage looking brown leather strap, but the black textured strap gives it a sporty modern look. really cant beat an NH movement in terms of reliability and modability.

      I dont like when 36mm versions are the same height as the larger versions. For 36mm diameter i want to see below 10mm height.

    • @ianclarke1683
      @ianclarke1683 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@unwokeneuropean3590 understood but hard to make it thinner with an NH35 movement. Imo I think it's ok for a military style watch to be small and thick, chunky is okay with a tool watch.

    I limit myself to one watch purchase every couple months, but this is hands down going to be my next purchase. I can afford more but, I realized when I started collecting last year, that things will get out of control really fast if I didn’t set limits. Thanks for the great review and have fun on the trip!

    Excellent review of a very good tool watch. I have already bought two watches in the AliExpress sale, but have been tempted by a third, a Tandorio Automatic Pilot Leather Strap Screw Crown NH35A 39mm which will perform the same function as the Baltany in my collection but is on sale for £30-37 - A bargain

  • @secordman

    Date window similar to a Timex Expedition field watch, same color doesnt work as well as a white date window. I could still live with this watch esp the price. +12 sec per day seems like a lot though.

    I'm sure they lumed those dots because they are lumed on the Khaki Field as well. Great review Steve! I picked up their Sub for $115 in the sale. I still may get this one as well. Not sure yet... I've bought about 5 already! 😂

    • @EscapeWheel
      @EscapeWheel 11 месяцев назад +2

      Indeed. I'd probably still pick the Hamilton given the chance, but no doubt the cheaper movement can be seen as a bonus, as well as the Better lume and size.

    They really did a great job on this and I can't fault anyone for buying one. I'm just personally in a position where I would prefer to just buy a Hamilton Khaki at some point since it's within reach for me financially, vs something like a vintage military chronograph that isn't really realistic for me to buy anytime soon.

      @@EscapeWheel OK the blue version arrived and I love it! My wrist is 7". At first I thought 40mm-41mm would have been better, but the more I wear it, the more than 39mm feels just right. I really don't mind the included leather strap. It has some nice thickness and edging and feels great on wrist. I got the blue dial and the buckle is brushed, unlike yours. It has sharp edges but they don't dig in. It's tastefully done. No branding though. The blue dial is incredible how it plays with the light - I'll be constantly staring at it it's just spellbinding. The red tip on the second hand is very legible. Lum is good. Numerals are crisp. Crystal is super clear. Hands are very stylish - they knocked this out of the park! My only gripe is that I put it on the timegrapher and over 6 positions averages +14.7 sec/day. So I'll be regulating this down a bit. Not too bad but not great but still - NH35 so is fixable. I am loving this piece!

    Maybe as good as the original one, except the movement (even if the powermatic 80 is not that good from what I hear).

      Under $100 has to be the new Escapement time Khaki field homage. Maybe the Addiesdive pilot watches as well, but I love the slimness of the ET
      Under $150, is this one for sure
      Under $200, still probably this.

    Do you know if the metal bracelet from the khaki would fit on this watch? Curious about compatibility because they look so similar.

    • @EscapeWheel
      @EscapeWheel 11 месяцев назад

      Doubtful...IIRC the watches have different dimensions (except width) so even if it did fit, there's bound to be some gaps somewhere....the Hamiltons lugs are longer, and the case diameter isn't 39mm on any model that I'm aware of.
