Finishing 29th out of 15,000 runners and running nearly solo for half the distance, it's hard to fathom the mental and physical stamina required to complete such a race! And he did so with such humility-truly remarkable!
There'll be a future race when you're feeling physically better, but a marathon is always hard at the limit. It's then when you'll remember having the mental strength to get through the tough times in Copenhagen and that can be the difference in pushing through to reach your goal. Tough times now can = good times later
Watching your channel since 1.5 Years now, and it inspired me and my twinbrother to run aswell. On the day of your marathon, we ran our first Halfmarathon (we just turned 16) and we finished in 1:21. So happy that we started running and special thanks to you for inspiring us. Also nice to see you comeback
So fast! Just ran my first marathon last weekend in 4:20. Missed my goal by 35 minutes due to stomach issues, but proud to have finished! Thanks for being my virtual training buddy and inspiring me to keep running! Already have my own comeback marathon planned ...
2:27 with stomach pain after an injury is incredible. May not have been what you wanted but still great. Good Work Ben, can’t wait to see what the future holds!
Well done Ben! I feel with you about you not quite meeting your goal, I just missed out on a 4:59 mile in a recent meet, which had been my goal, finishing 5:02, but I still feel alright about it. Don’t beat yourself up, there’ll be another chance! (I’m a year 8 btw)
Love that you had some many followers out there cheering you on and taking clips to send in to you! Great experience and great race! Have my 2nd ever marathon in a few days time and really enjoyed watching your journey through this one!
Oh Ben, I sensed this, running half the race by yourself is the toughest ever, you did amazing self talk. Fantastic time still. Well done. Hope you work out the stomach/muscle issue cause 🎉🎉
Very respectable time regardless of the goal and as you say, it’s also more than just the time, it’s about coming back from injury. You’ll no doubt reach your goal soon. Good luck Ben.
Wow that is hard running on your own for so long. Weirdly I also experience that a lot as a slow runner and it's a mental game. It's your second fastest marathon AND coming back from a fracture!! that's not to be sniffed at, well done!
Great run Ben, pb at the next marathon I'm sure! Would be interested to see some videos on your hip mobility work as I have a really tight left hip flexor
it's crazy to me that someone bordering on elite athlete status can have so much self doubt mid race. Incredible run though, well done. Your recovery and work ethic are impressive to watch
Getting to the start line after what you went through was the first battle won - ok so you didn't win your own war against the marathon but I'm sure that day will come - and as we all know- every race day is different now matter how much you train - great performance all the same and you make it look effortless 🏃♂️💨💨
Man, so sick. Love the breakdown. I've only been running since like 2020, and pretty inconsistent due to other sports/injuries but want to start doing some like 5k maybe 10k races locally. I have no system, I don't know how to warm up or cool down correctly, and I don't understand running training splits. I will run 4k or 5k 2-4 times a week, and I avg like 5:30-6:00 km's. Any advice on where to start? Mostly interested in just longevity and health purposes but would be cool to run a 22 min 5k. I ran a 24:30 5k one time a couple years ago, but haven't been able to get back since.
Great running and awesome work on the video! Though, I got totally mind-f*ck'd by the lack of chronology in the footage 🤨😅 .. but I guess only us Copenhageners will notiice! 😁
@@remcodejong9149 but people will spend £5 per day on a coffee which is £150/month and £1825/year 😆 personally I know where I would prefer to put my money
A decent effort Ben. My opinion...and I'm sure you have your own thoughts...but a sub 30 10k vlog would be interesting and more within your range. You run like a 10k runner and the magic of sub 30 is surely tempting?
Congratulations, Ben on seeing the race through to the end. Must have been tough to guts it out for so long - especially as you seem to be running by yourself for a lot of the race. Not really what one would expect in a city marathon. From watching the training videos prior to the race I got the impression that you were not, perhaps, 100% confident in your fitness levels going into the race? Also, do you think looking back that the day before the race you might have spent a bit too much time on your legs, walking about quite a bit?
For a shorter message, what have you been doing for your hips? I can’t run because of mine and muscle imbalance in them and it’s been extremely depressing
Hey is there any chance you’ve struggled from muscle imbalance? Specifically in the hips (possibly from sciatica). Kinda unfair cause I’m only 21 struggling from this but I’m trying to do PT soon, just complicated, but just wanna know any advice and other alternative exercises I can do to maintain endurance and cardio. Cycling sucks and idk how much it applies to runnjng
hey Ben im one week away from my first big race and its my longest ran ive done yet, any advice?

Maybe this is too personal information, but if it's public, I would be interested: what is height and weight of Ben? What parameters need to make a magical time like this?
F*ck me, that woman crossing the road at the 26.5km mark barely dodged a bullet when you turned the corner into that road. I thought the Danes were perversely risk adverse..! 😮
How shit was the design of the start of that course for the pointy end of the field having to weave through hundreds of other runners!, not a good feature and a disaster waiting to happen!

Been thinking to register for a marathon in November for a few weeks now... this video motivated me to do it right now :). Let's go for a PB !
Well done, Ben!!👏👏
You did great, Ben. Sorry you had those cramps quite a bit from the end, I'm sure that wasn't easy to deal with but you did fantastic! =D

Nice one Ben, perhaps not what you were aiming for, but seems like you dealt with challenging circumstances well!
Onwards and upwards Benji, that was an incredible effort
I had the exact same finishing time doing my first half marathon ever this May :)

Is there any XC spikes you recommend? I'm trying to find a nice responsive distance spike that doesn't break the bank.

It wasn't ideal but think it may have been to a last minute route change due to a road closure as dont remember this from previous iterations
