Mmmmm, that sure takes me back. I was surfing (badly) before surfing was cool....this song was IT when it came out. We all move on....but the memories are with us all our lives. Namaste -Veteran '66-68
Yes but unfortunately they didn't play a lot of there own material they had session players in the recording studios look it up a very famous female bass player did a lot of there recording Along with loads of other famous artists from that era but nevertheless good singers 👍👏👏
2022 and I am BLASTING this while going down memory lane back when I lived and surfed in Santa Cruzs Cali. Crazy story to share, this one summer evening around 1988, my buddy and I were just hanging out on the boardwalk just checking out the scene(THE CHICS👙) and out of nowhere I absolutely beautiful long haired Latina Beach Babe walks up to me and slams a kiss on me and then takes off,I chased after her,to try and have a conversation -get her phone number, she responded with she can't give it to me and her father was very strict but told me to keep living and if it's meant to be,the two of us will find each other again...... we never did but that kiss-her smile was truly another magical boardwalk memory of my REBEL YOUTH that I'll never forget!👙🤟🍺🦈🌴🌊🍻🏄 . Oh and by the way this song "SURFER GIRL" was being played by Papa Do Run Run in the background while this magic moment happened too!🤟
Hey Larry, I really enjoy your music and talent in the steel guitar. Keep up your hard work, and thanks for making this available to guys like me to enjoy, this is Alan, greetings from Riverside in Southern California.

Very nice Larry love the sound what effects d u have on is there tremelo or is it a volume pedal see some folks have thanked you for the tabs can you send a link please be greatful keep posting 👍👏👏👏👏🏴🥃
I guess i want to know if the rhythm starts with a D chord or a C. I noticed alot of people play it using one ore the other but with the lap steel being tuned to c6, i wasn't sure what key to tell my rhythm guy to learn. All i need to know is the first couple of chords. Thanks, MT
Even thought the lap steel is tuned to C6, the song on the video is played as written in the key of D, with a key change to E-flat major after the B section. I hope this help! Enjoy!
Very nice. You make your Gibson BR9 sound very smooth. Looks like you have the original knobs too. Did you keep the original pickup? I used to have one of these guitars but mine was pretty beat up and the knobs and pickup were changed by the previous owner - which ruined it. The string spacing is ideal on these. Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks! I purchased the Lap with a matching amp about 20 years ago. It had all original parts except the tuners had to be changed out. Original pickup still intact and sounds great!
I’m really a blues player that dabbles on the lap steel. I’m self taught and the lap is not hard to learn… open chords and some technique on achieving good tone. There are some good teachers online who can get you started. All the best!
Do you know what key you are playing this in? I really would love the chords so my partner could play rhythm guitar while i play the lap steel part. thanks, t
Wow - beautiful! I love that song. Your dog was paying rapt attention and enjoying every note (I was too!)
Cute dog, that dog gets the vibe, beautiful playing.

That is the cutest and well - mannered dog in the whole world. I fell in love. Oh, by the way, great playing.
Even the dog is just relaxing

The Beach Boys sure wrote some great music. Beautiful playing.
Unfortunately Jan Berry, of Jan And Dean wrote it and gave the beach boys a credit to do it

How long you been playing and how long to learn to play and each song
