One thing that I find interesting about this song is the line “my father wasn’t around, but I swear that I’ll be around for you” I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but it’s interesting when you realize that both fathers outlived Phillip and Theodosia (She was lost at sea when her father was still alive) so if you think about it... they were around until the very end for their children.
