- At an elevation of 10,000 feet. The Log Cabin Mine is in Museum condition. And the mill is packed full of equipment. The primary commodities were gold and mercury. Once being the largest producer of gold in the state of California.
It was a seasonal operation as the snow-packed conditions made accessibility impossible in the winter months.
Operations began in the early 1900s. By 1980, the mine was abandoned. Soon after 1980, the mine was supposed to resume operations. Although, the discovery of contaminants in the ground permanently shut down operations.
I felt compelled to make the 200-mile drive to the Log Cabin mine due to its slow deterioration and risk of being lost in history due to thieves and vandals. The filming of today's episode was a two-day production. - On the first day I visited, there was an antique axe in a tree stump. The next day, the axe was stolen. There were also a liberal amount of tools in the workshop that was stolen. - Thieves have been looting this historic site at a rapid pace.
Join us as we explore the greatest and most significant mine operations I have ever seen.

I watch alot of other mining channels and vids , including all of yours . This was the best one I have seen . Thank-you for all your hard work .
Thanks Tony!
What a great video. Love all the work you do and research and narrating. Well done.
Thank you, Russ.
Danke für das Hochladen sehr interessant
It’s a shame how they loot the history right out of these places. One time when visited this operation we saw a bunch of various size gear wheels. The next year when we went back they had been picked clean. Glad you filmed the mining buildings for future generations to enjoy.
You do a great job on these explores.
Thank you!

I genuinely enjoy watching your videos. You don't dramatise, like some others do to bait people in for views. Stay safe matey.
Thank you. I appreciate it!
Dont worry about spending to much time at any part of the video as you said. I love stis stuff. Peace.
Wow this place is enormous
The largest I have ever explored.
@@DaveSuzukiExploration I believe that!! Thank you for sharing this💜
Hey there Dave. Congratulations on your new Channel name? Also for the awesome video of this mine
Regards from Ody Slim
Thanks, Scott. Proper Exploration was always a temporary name that I never got around to changing.
I changed it as I feel it's a name that implies my channel is only about abandoned content. To which, I am already planning next year's road trip, and all videos will not be abandoned related. Plus, the new name is shorter and more "personal" to the viewer.
@@DaveSuzukiExploration Awesome All the Way!
