Thank you :) Be sure to watch this video, where I share about a couple things I would do differently with that next time I build one. ruclips.net/video/S9CxW1hG3Ds/видео.html
My husband built shelving and a can rotator similar to yours. He did add a small piece of trim in front if each shelf of glass jars as a precaution. It wasn’t fancy , but I loved both projects. I have used an old wire coat hanger I untwisted to hold my canning rings. Hang it on a nail like yours.
Our home was completely destroyed from a tornado on August 27 th. We are going to rebuild and I had two large pantries that was just cabinet type. With our new house I want a walk-in pantry so you have definitely gave me good ideas. Especially all the good and bad of the walled can project. I'm sorry you had to have a trail and error project but so glad you shared the proper way to do this. I will definitely be doing this. Thank you. God is Good.
I am so sorry about the loss of your home! My daughter lost her home a few years ago to a hurricane. It was devastating. Trial and error with projects can be frustrating, but most of the wood was able to be saved for other projects. So there wasn’t too much lost, other than time.
I put in shelving in a closet in the living room and another one in the hall used for linens. I store alot of canning and dehydrated food there. I still need more storage in my kitchen and looking for ways to to do it. I just love all of your projects that you do around the house. Could you give us some ideas on how you find the time to do all that you do, please. I would appreciate it if you made a video. Thanks alot. Glad I found your channel.
Glad you discovered the flaw in the design of that can rack. I wanted to build one as well. I hope the price of lumber comes back down before I'm ready to build it.
@@jennawinkelman8260 Thankfully, I lot of what I have going on right now involves using free pallets and reclaimed lumber. But, I can only take that so far. Before too long I will need some dimensional lumber.
Love the behind the door idea! My husband just reconfigured an old entertainment center into a shelving unit for my canned food this weekend. I'm loving being able to see all my home canned food on all the shelves. Like u said maybe not the most beautiful but practical & repurposing an item we already had.
I'm also all about practical ideas and using space wisely. I have been wondering how I could use some space in my laundry room and you have given me great ideas for shelving options!
Thank you so much for sharing you have given me some great ideas for my laundry room because it is also my storage room like yours and I was trying to think of ways to utilize all that space because it is a big laundry room I have all this extra space and I need it for storage so great ideas thank you so much for sharing you have a very blessed day
This speaks to my homestead heart. We plan to move next year and I am on the look out for places with potential for storage. When we bought our current home, we had double ovens. Those were pulled out and my husband built shelves that were measured for perfect height for canning jars.
Over the door shelving... For those who are not handy with power tools, use the back of the door for shelving systems designed for this purpose. You can also use over the door shoe holders for the same purpose. I have one, in a room that holds office supplies. Another on my pantry door that serves as an oversize spice rack. Many types & styles, just Google over the door storage or over the door shoe rack.
I love how you used all the nooks and crannies. I did something similar behind our door but instead I used it as a large lid rack using framing the area on the wall behind the door and using yardsticks that I painted white. the lids for my pots and pans sit easy reach behind my kitchen door near stove. no more bending and digging in a dark cabinent. you really dont notice it because the interior kitchen door stays open all the time. (old house built 1889-has door on every room)
Fels Naptha I love that laundry soap! I think I need to borrow your behind the door shelving Idea. It is just dead space which with all prepping I've done, I really need the storage. we have a little house 25x35 so space is essential
Keep some extra canning rings if you decide to vacuum seal dehydrated foods in mason jars. Taking the rings off is standard practice in canning. When vacuum sealing dry foods, leave the rings on the jars. If the seal breaks for some reason, the lid will keep the ring in place. Dry/dehydrated foods don't spoil like jars canned foods with moisture. A few extra rings are good for other things, as well. They can serve as a canning rack in the bottom of a large stock pot for example when waterbath canning. They make great molds when canning meat patties. (Place a ring on a plate, right side up. Lightly press hamburger into the ring, until it's full. Lift off the ring for a patty that'll fit the jar. Ready to be browned for canning. One more.... Over time rings will become damaged and/or develop rust. Keep extra stash to replace those, as needed. Just some thoughts as you may already be doing these.
I'm getting lots of questions today about the homemade laundry soap that I make, since the ingredients were seen in today's video. For those that are interested, I have the recipe published on my website here: cosmopolitancornbread.com/laundry-soap/
We put a lip on the bottom of each shelf just to make sure nothing slid off. My cats like to jump up on the shelves and I was worried they would knock jars off. It’s only about a half inch tall.
Another great video!...on how to make shelves and wooden sleeves for cans. What is the name of the dehydrated sugar you use? Where can I get it? Would like to try it in baked goods.
Not at all. I use the clothes line a lot, and in the winter this room stays very cool. So even when the dryer gets run more, it doesn’t get warm in there.
Hmmm I think I may be able to get one of those can storage shelves on either side of my existing shelves. Great idea! BTW why do you wrap plastic on the Arm&Hammer?
I don’t recall the dimensions of the room. (We sold that house last year.) But I believe the shelves were 2 feet deep. I did another video where I show in a little more detail how I built these. ruclips.net/video/S9CxW1hG3Ds/видео.htmlsi=IgO3Y4L-c5lfgq6L
I see you have borax powder, my husband won't let me use it or any powder, it clogs your lines, it can go into big balls. He did lines for people and that is what he found. You are so smart with your cans making the place to have them roll out.
Thank you SO much for this inspiring video! I plan to duplicate your can rack! Yes!!! Looking forward to it. I have one question because I want to store my canned goods in my laundry room & build shelving just like this as well. Do you think it will be safe storage wise for my jars since my laundry room (not sure about yours?) gets pretty warm? I really want to utilize my laundry room. 🧡 So grateful for you!
Home canned goods are better in a cooler spot. Our laundry room never gets very warm. I use the clothes line a lot in the summer, and in the winter, our laundry room stays very chilly. I would definitely use the space for storage, but maybe not the jars if it gets really warm.
@@CosmopolitanCornbread Thank you! Good point about the clothesline outside. I’m trying to utilize every unused square inch in our home to store our canned goods. Recently started canning & am obsessed. 😅🧡 Have a wonderful day! Blessings to you.

I absolutely love your pantry. One of these days I am going to redo my pantry. Have a blessed day.

Great pantry good ideas
Hello there. I was wondering if I could get a drawing and the measurements of your can rack. Yours is the best one I’ve seen!!
Wow great storage ideas!
Looks great
Thank you :)
I am a new subbie. Glad that youtube suggested you. Love what you did in your laundry room.
Thank you, and welcome!
You have a wonderful pantry! I’m envious of your can storage. More than enough food for the two of you
You did a terrific job! That is one fantastic laundry/pantry room!

I have all the Borax too :)
Wow, Constance, everything looks so nice and organized!! You are so smart. I do have a question. How do you use the unprocessed dehydrated sugar?
I use in in baking. Most often when baking my homemade bread, in place of the honey.

Does the heat from the dryer mess with your canning

I actually ordered it because I couldn’t find it in any of my local stores. It came that way, and I just left it on there :)
How deep are the shelves for your canned goods?
The new set that I just put in, is 18 inches. The other set is 16.
How deep are your shelves and what are the dimensions of your room?
