I'm building the RCAF "Red Indian" CF-104 Monogram kit. I put it aside because we were moving, and that was 10 years ago. Dug it back out recently and clearly I need to start over with the paint job. One thing I hated- for a red aircraft, it was molded in YELLOW. Hard to cover up and prevent light bleeding through, especially on such thin wings. I joined the Canadian Air Force in 1990, too late to work on the 104. Too bad, I actually would have been good on them, being so short. Would have loved to get a reinforced ball cap (crews wore them to prevent getting scalped on the leading edge)...
I get it about the yellow, but that "Red Indian" scheme is just plain cool. Thank you for all the info, I knew the wings were sharp but I didn't know about the reinforced ball caps. And of course, thank you for your service!
Monogram tooled one mold but released the kits in two different boxings. The smaller tailed A/C version and the larger tailed CF-104/G/J versions. RoG has only reissued the 'G' so far. One of my very favorite kits of all time!
I've built the "G" a few times but this'll be the first "C". Kinda excited to get into it! Of course, I have a backlog. LOL Definitely love these kits.
I have this exact same kit but in yellow as an F-104G in squadron celebratory colors for a black and yellow bird theme paint scheme, I guess the Luftwaffe squadron was celebrating a milestone in its service or disbanding, I'm not sure. I plan on painting it in standard Luftwaffe colors and marking for that era, I'm not big on special paint schemes.

I built that exact kit. Really enjoyed the build.
Round 2 models , needs to acquire these old school molds.
I want to say smoked two is currently at March Air Force Base in California at the Museum
From Google it says it's in Chino. Buuuuut, the info is sketchy at best so I'd have to say you're correct. 😀
@@casualplasticmodeling March is next to chino.on the 215

The 104G came out in 1978; the C in '82/'83 or so.
