I built the Vietnam version of these, I sanded down the resin hull top to the square rivet bit, and made a hole in the plastic top to fit this section, still quite a bit of work but it looks much nicer with the better plastic detail.

That's actually an excellent idea. I might try this if I ever make any more.

Shame about the issues, but it's very cool to see this kit out there

It is nice to have it available.

Thanks for the review. it helps to know what you are getting and what kind of work is needed.

It is a shame it has some challenges, because I give BF a lot of credit for tackling such an obscure subject. I just wish it went together a bit better.

Looks like it may have shrunk a bit more than battlefront expected. Hopefully they fix it before you get another one of these kits. My EG army is coming along fine, and the mix of PSC and TY t55am2 kits is hard to tell the difference from regular gaming height so I'm mixing kits of each. Cause the t55 units are cheap points wise I need alot

This might work. If I ever have to build some more I can try it. Thanks.

I would suggest using the The VADS hull top along with a Scorpion turret; all plastic and it will fit :)

    • @FogofWar

I did try that, but the VADS top has the turret a bit far forward and has extra stuff on the back deck, like that circular hatch. I did try and kit bash a plastic top using the standard M113 top, and it was OK but I didn't use it.

Shame they couldn't be bothered with the correct trim vane. Orbat is wrong too, Cav Troops only operated with 2x MRV, 3x M113 and a section of Cav scout dismounts, nothing less.

It is a shame the organisation isn't better for the Car units. Some guys on the FB ANZAC forums were also mentioning this.

I´m thinking couldn't you just use the plastic top, from the VADs or TOW M113´s, if you magnetized the turret?

Hi Steffen. The closest hull top is the standard M113 APC top. You need to carve off the commander's hatch attachment point and some of the tools behind the upper hull hatch. Then you need to scratch fabricate a gun mount and add some bolt details. I gave this a go, and if I ever buy some more of these I might use it. But I chickened out and stuck with the kit parts. (Plus I need to review the actual kit parts.)

The TY plastic kits are coming to Tanks skirmish game.

I saw that news. Trouble is I already have kits for TY so I'll not be able to get the TANKS cards without buying more kits. On the plus side, I'll be able to buy and review single vehicle kits of some I don't already have!

If it is anything like the WW2 Tanks starter box it will have cards for a lot of tanks, not just the ones in the box. The starter box is great value. Looking forward to your reviews, but my main interest is in WW2 tanks rather than more modern stuff.

You make a good point about the starter box. Maybe that will give me cards for some of my tanks. As for WWII vs Modern, the channel covers both, but we stopped playing FoW here at the moment. There's a lot more TY being played. Plus my reviews are now just what I buy, so there's been no WWII for a while.

Shame they didn’t use the plastic scorpion turret from the British kit, I guess they don’t expect to sell a lot of these

I guess they couldn’t use the plastic turret without tooling a whole new sprue. Otherwise you would get an entire Scorpion sprue in the kit as well. Cool but not economic. And the turret casting was fine, apart from the sticky resin issue.

Unlike this video for those that build it, the drivers hatch does not flip back as per M113 rather swivel back so it clears the turret, also the hatch has no periscope.

I realised after I glued it on. I hadn't been going to have the hatch open, then decided at the last minute and the superglue was dry by the time I noticed.

Oh dear...what a piece of junk. Better off just getting the 113 box set of 4 and the scorpion box of 4 and kit bash

    • @FogofWar

To be fair, it is only this one part that is a problem, but it is a significant problem. And wonky resin is nothing new, but I guess we are a lot more used to crisp, tight fitting plastic kits these days.

Fog of War I dunno...die waffenkammer resin is pretty much perfection.
