This is why the TFA Megatron and Starscream dynamic is my favorite interpretation. Starscream asassinates Megatron the first chance he gets, and when Megatron gets rebuilt he immediately catches on to Starscream’s bullshit and executes him on the spot. And when he’s revived from the allspark fragment, Starscream doesn’t try to get back into Megatron’s ranks, he instead just becomes his own villain and launches attacks on Megatron multiple times. It’s so much better than “Oh I enjoy seeing you fail to kill me so I keep you around”
