New playfield would definitely be worth it with that cabinet and new plastics

I’m in the process of scratch building a Quicksilver out of a donor Wyld Fire and I would say get the new playfield. Everyone picks on Mirco but the playfield I got is good quality. I just put a #6 washer under every star post to help with any problems.

I vote for a new playfield…..I’ve done 3 or 4 in 30 years….It’s a lot of work, but the end result is worth it. My tips are to take a lot of photos before you start. Also, don’t unsolder anything you don’t need to, and when you do, put a bit of tape on the wire saying where it connects back to. ….Good luck on your mission Mike. The cabinet says it wants a new playfield….Then you’ll wind up with a collectors edition, beautiful machine…..and isn’t that what we all want??

I had one of these, worked out a trade for it where I got a Space Station that was really nice. I still miss the Quicksilver and it's Heavy Metal cover art on the backglass!

If you end up repairing the broken brackets with superglue, consider sprinkling some baking soda/powder over the joint to make it stronger...

Yeah, new series of videos! The under/over is 10.5. I know it'll turn out great (with a replacement playfield)

you should put yoppsicles in this game, put them in my seawitch, super easy and no need for altek lamp board or connectors!

Dude, you gotta find a way to get a new playfield. No way that ratty playfield should ever sit in that excellent cabinet Kevin restored. I know it's a chunk of change, but well worth the price. Especially if you are gonna copy HEP's color scheme, which was quite excellent.

For how beatiful of a cabinet I would look for a replacement playfield as that Mylar is bad😅 maybe just ask around in various Facebook groups to see if someone has a nice playfield instead of buying a brand new one

If it’s getting a fresh cabinet plastics don’t hold back on the pf.
Just banged out a bad cats pf swap in less than a week. Way easier than it appears

Come on Mike, get the new playfield. Even if you need to sell a project pin to fund it. Quicksilver is a highly sought after game and you won’t lose on your investment. Can’t put that crappy used one in there, it would be a shame even for a LEP restoration..
