Jonction is a neighbourhood undergoing renewal. Historically, it was mainly farmland, located in between two rivers: the Rhône and the Arve. In the 20th century, Jonction became home to a gas power plant, which exploded in 1909. Metal manufacturing companies followed, all of which closed in the 1980s.
