You can turn right on red, but you MUST stop first. I got a citation for not stopping. You can also turn left on red, as long as you're turning FROM one way street, TO one way street.
+Yannick Claessens
not only, many state have that law.
I didn't know the one way street one, but I did laugh when he got confused by turning on red.
those onramps are ridiculous. maybe they are that short in europe, but america has very long merge lanes
+Veyronp87 Not always. Some are pretty short others half mile long.
+Veyronp87 They're not that short in Europe either... The size of the onramps is more fitting for national roads (max 90km/h), not for highways.
I'm from Central California and we just had a winter/wind storm pass through this weekend. It rains in California and it snows in the mountain ranges from winter to spring. Since we are currently in a drought we appreciate any rain/snow we get as it helps California water levels which is needed to grow crops and etc. With Climate change here in the recent years you kind of never know what kind of weather you'll encounter.
It does snow in Cali. Some places get over 10ft.
+Hank Hill Only in the mountains and rarely anywhere else.
But hes in nevada
It snows quite a bit in the desert areas of Cali. Don't let the stereotypes fool you
Where he is going, that’s high desert, it snows quite frequently.
CrystalBleach in know!
I drove through the desert in a truck with no name
It felt so good to be hauling again
In the desert you can remember your name
Cause there ain't no Bears gonna give you no pain
Singin la la lalalala. Singin la la la
+Minarus Infernus Just me who got San Andreas flashbacks?
@Minarus Infernus fergie song feat. TI ?
A Truck With No Name
On the first part of the journey,
I was looking at all the life.
There were plants and birds. and rocks and things,
There was sand and hills and rings.
The first thing I met, was a fly with a buzz,
And the sky, with no clouds.
The heat was hot, and the ground was dry,
But the air was full of sound.
I've been through the desert in a truck with no name,
It felt good to be hauling again.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't bears to give you no pain.
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
After two days, in the desert sun,
My truck began to turn red.
After three days, in the trucking fun,
I was looking at a river bed.
And the story it told, of a river that flowed,
Made me sad to think it was dead.
You see I've been through the desert in a truck with no name,
It felt good to be hauling again.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no bears to give you no pain.
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
After nine days, I let the truck in park,
'Cause the desert had turned to sea.
There were plants and birds, and rocks and things,
There was sand and hills and rings.
The ocean is a desert, with its life underground,
And a perfect disguise above.
Under the cities lies, a heart made of ground,
But the truckers will give no love.
You see I've been through the desert in a truck with no name,
It felt good to be hauling again.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no bears to give you no pain.
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
La la, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la
Beautiful dude. ;)
You just made me think about Breaking Bad man. ;D
The Uhal Trucks Kill Me Every Time😂😂😂
@Devante Barios hahahah can't even spell uhaul right mate
what about UPS which is called UDS
+Devante Bairos same
9:10 Haha, you have *no* 'idear' Englishman. Next time you're in America, come down south and we will show you what humidity and heat *really* are. :D
That's true
This is the series that got me trucking. Rewatching and enjoying it all over again.
I've driven in these parts, and it is eerily spot on. "Call Boxes" on the side of the highway...omg. there is a few large military bases in those parts...lots of jets flying about. incredible realism
I'm kinda bummed at the freeways. The on-ramps are nothing like most of the ones in real life :/
+Julius Leonard (juju4396) So weird to see at 10:55 a proper added merging lane, but the other interchanges like the one at 6:55 have a Yield sign. So 0-60 drag races to get on the freeway? Bizzare.
true.
Been checking your channel every few hours for this haha
same :D
ℓσℓ
In the US, you can turn right at a red light unless a sign says you can't, and obviously make sure there are no pedestrians and or cars coming
Hey Squirrel I must say I find these videos surprisingly relaxing. As someone who has been told I needed to be driven to sleep I find the sound of the truck engine, plus your fun anecdotes make it a great play through to watch before I lay down for bed.
Squirrel, you don't normally have to stop on an acceleration ramp (unless you already know), you normally bully your way in. But, in Chicago, some acceleration ramps have lights that tell when it's safe to drive on the highway.
When I first started my career, in driving, the company I drove for allowed single drivers to do Texas, California, Nevada, I took every trip going, then they only wanted teams, when I got ATS, I saw the sights that I miss, I spend so much time in this sim, My loves for me to point out different things. This is a exccellent sim, cant wait for map mods to come out!
Never played ETS, yet might pick this one up some day. When I was younger, my father was a truck driver and during one summer, he took me on a few trips with him. We lived in Texas at the time. So I've been fascinated with semi trucks ever since. I'm 34 now, and believe I was around 8 at the time.
Looking forward to seeing how this game continues to grow from the developers and the community modders.
It snows in Northern, Central and Southern California. Being from So Cal first snow I've ever seen was on the San Bernardino mountains. So you'd always have a snow capped mountain backdrop. The first place I'd ever seen snowfall was in Tehachapi in Central California. So it's not unusual to get snow in California.
Loving ATS so far. I was amazed at the amount of arbitrary stuff going on in the sidelines in ATS.
First time I bought my truck with a loan, I drove down a massive highway and saw tumbleweeds.
The highway was straight, but I laughed so hard I nearly swerved off road.
Loving these vids. :) Keep up the awesome work, Squirrel.
I'm in Fresno California and sometimes there's no rain for the whole year sometimes it's 90 degrees F and it rains. It's very weird. ALSO California has snow in the high mountains all winter. Highest speed limit here is 70mph, most of our highways are 65mph. We haves places in Cali where you have to use headlights during the day for dust and fog areas and tunnels too!
In Scandinavia, it's required by law to have your running lights on or low beams on in winter. All day and all night. It makes it possible for drivers to spot you and work with you a bit easier
"You see that jet?!?! That thing was flying!" lmao, yes, squirrel, yes it was... sorry I just can't stop giggling about that part
I'm enjoying this ATS, and this may have been mentioned, but in America, we do not have yield signs on our interstate entrance ways and most of our interstates are more than two lanes. Also at intersections with lights, we have left turn lights that allow left turners to proceed before the straight through traffic can go. Just food for thought for SCS.
In any turning lane, the leftmost lane goes to the leftmost lane, and the 2nd lane goes into the 2nd lane. Never do you go from leftmost lane to second, or otherwise.
The right on red is pretty cool, it keeps traffic flowing. But, here is one that will blow your mind. Left on red, if turning from a one way road, onto another one way road. If you can picture it in your mind, your not crossing a lane of traffic at the point, and only "merging" in essence. What makes it tricky, is a 4 way intersection wanting to make the "right on red" at the same time. Dumb fact I figured you would enjoy.
I am watching this series from the beginning and enjoying every minute. You've done a great job with this series. Many videos with commentary get on my nerves but yours are great! Well done...
No only does it rain, but I've notice storms in America tend to be more severe than other countries I've lived in. Not that we don't get drizzle, but we get a lot of thunderstorms and snowstorms, as compared to just a rain shower or flurries.
It rains in Northern California all the time.. Southern California occasionally. Sadly El Nino hasnt actually done too much yet other than bring Great Whites very close to shore.
The turn right on red law started back in the 1970's when we had an oil crisis in the US. The idea was that cars wouldn't have to sit and wait for the light to turn green and therefore wouldn't have to stop and then speed back up. The cars back then just drank fuel and this was an easy way to help people save gas during the shortage
when i was in florida in july it rained every night for 4 hours because it was so humid and the next morning you couldnt even tell it had rained few hours ago.
I have a shark free aquarium where I live the great aspect of that is they let you dive in there with all the fishes for a fee of course but no worries about jaws sneaking up on you for lunch time
I'm waiting to see Freightliner and cab over trucks plus some east coast states.
I've been waiting for this game for so long, only a few more days. I hope the moderators support this game as well as they did with ETS2, especially finding some real engine noises.
Reno to Sacramento should have snow because it gets to over 7000 feet above sea level in the donner pass.
5:40, when you made that left and asked if it was red and if you had to stop, that's a Nooo, the light was for another lane that was to your right going the same direction
4:18 Pretty realistic how the car lurches as it stops!
Also if your on a one-way road and come to an intersection that is also one-way heading to your left, you can turn left on red unless otherwise posted..gotta keep all that traffic moving.
In Northern California it rains all the time during the winter but never in the Summer.
Lately it have been raining a lot more in Cali. But there for a while, the whole west coast pretty much, from Washington State to California, so like no rain for a few month. Cali been like seeing not that much rain for a few years now where they been under like a extreme dought. Now lately, it have been raining more.
its been raining a lot in california and it also snows here too, mostly in norther california and nothern nevada.
you should be able to customise your headquarters
In Norway the rules are that you always have to have the headlights on. Even inn summer!
I live in Elko Nevada, it was interesting to see you drive through town. The route you took was off interstate through downtown and it is close to how it should be. Though the only truck dealer in town is a Peterbuilt it is also located on the opposite site of town as that Kenworth dealer which in real life is a Wingers restaurant. like the series so far though.
Keep in mind you've just been looking at daycabs. I wonder if you can rest in those at truck stops since they don't have anywhere to sleep but your seat? Hopefully the first chassis upgrade gives you a bed!
As for right on red, You treat it as a stop sign basicly, you stop fully(supposed to be for 3 seconds) then treat it as a yeald.
+Yannick Claessens state laws may be different. in sc you are "supposed" to wait.
I'm pretty sure we all know, Wallbert in the game is Walmart
didn't know, ty
Same as IKA in ets2 (ikea)
Or It Could Be Walgreens?
+Devante Bairos no its Walmart look at color. of logo .. man I can't wait for game and awesome trailer/truck mods
+Devante Bairos nah it's Definitely Walmart
I think we can all agree it is definitely Tesco
Volvo N-series should be included in the game!
Scania T-series never took off in the USA as they hoped, don't know how many T93H they sold in the 80-90's.
When I was little (late 90's) you would sometimes see Volvo N720's and Scania T93H (mostly flatbeds) here in Gothenburg, Sweden
You can also go right on red squirrel! Keep up the great videos!
Yes in America you are supposed to turn your headlights on when going through tunnels, I don’t know if it’s something you would get a ticket for or not though, as I have never seen or heard of anyone being ticketed for that before.
Greetings from Norway! btw, we got to turn our lights on everytime we take a drive, not just in tunnels.
Just remember that not all US states allow right on red.The highway entrances and exits are very different from what you usually find in America - there is usually an acceleration lane.
The light thing is the same here in Australia, we have an arrow that says if we can turn or not. turning right on a red just seems totally unnatural lol
You do have to have your headlights on when going threw a tunnel, at least I know you do here in Pennsylvania when on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
One of the things in ETS2 I noted was the location of the stoplights. In the US stoplights are always on the far side of the intersection, so you can see the lights. In Europe the stop lights are frequently right overhead when you stop. That's...odd, and irritating. I sometimes have to change camera views to see the light.
There is a big storm series called El Nino that causes it to rain a lot here in SF
Wow!! The kenworth dealer looks like one I been to in Canada
in California Nevada and the like it barely rains when it does its big rains and because of it they get flash flooding... keep up the vids and streams
The town of Jackpot is a border town from Idaho and Nevada. They have hotels and casinos there in the Nevada side.
+Bill Alicea i have driven through Jackpot on my Yellowstone trip
Oddly enough Squirrel, it does snow in California, but only in the very top of the state by Washington and Oregon
And around lake tahoe
in answer to your in game commentary, yes it snows in california. if you take I-8 out of San Diego to Yuma, Arizona in the winter they sometimes have chain laws in effect. also on I-80 from Reno,Nevada to Sacramento, California in the winter they have chain laws in effect many times. snow falls in high elevation and California has the Sierra Nevada Mountains on its border with Nevada and Arizona. You should really write to one of the large trucking companies in the US like CR England or US Express and ask if you can go on a ride along. do a video series about that. i think it would be interesting from the perspective of a European Truck Simulator player. You could do comparisons between the trucks/trailers, fuel stops, state scales, etc.
No matter how well lit a tunnel is, always have your headlights on. As a matter of fact, ALWAYS have your headlights on. Those are the only ones that are ALWAYS legal (side lights only is illegal at night). Could you inform me when your headlights aren't allowed? (Talking about main beam, not high beam).
But, back to the tunnel stuff. If the power in the tunnel drops for some reason, the entire tunnel will suddenly be blacked out. You'll be very happy you had your headlights on then.
Also:
Squirrel 2016, about a jet plane: "That thing was flying!". Oh really Paul? ;)
I still own SCS's first...18 wheels of steel. Based on America. That also has the jets and trains. And I can hear the sound.
In northern California they still get snow.
Here in the states you can turn right on red in the far right lane if there's no traffic coming.
You have to have your headlights on at all times in Norway, i think it's the same in Denmark and Sweden.
Most tunnels should have a "turn headlights on" sign before the tunnels. When you made the left turn at the light, the red light was for the traffic crossing the other way. You were fine proceeding through the intersection. Your rolling stops at the stop signs would get you a ticket if a cop was there.
In CA. anything pulling a trailer is 55MPH. Right on Red after stop.
Squirrel !! got to be done drop-head mustang down Big Sur !!!!! DIVINE !!!! lol
You were in North west Nevada during the rain, it rains there more often.
the traffic lights in iceland also have green/yellow/red arrows
"It rains in California" he says... in Reno, Nevada :P
when in a sign, you can actually turn right in America ! Great episode!
Enjoyed watching some of your random vids in the past. Loving this truck diaries approach and happy to start watching right from the beginning. I got my popcorn ready, keep it coming squirrel ! :)
You can turn left on red also, as long as it is from a one way street to another one way street
Quite a few police cars here have alloy wheels. They are mostly highway patrol cars.
Some cities like NYC you can't turn right on red lights. But the rest of the state you can. It depends on the city/state traffic laws.
it rains in northern California, In southern California it's all dessert
Hey man love your videos :D hope you
play this game :)
+Ian Baker Thank's for watching them man! I'll have video's of ATS out by Thursday for sure lol
Cool :)
Okay
+Andrew T-Rex It actually rains and snows a lot in SoCal. (depending on what part of SoCal you're talking about)
actually if you do not have your side lights on it considered a ticket, America's as really strict rules in trucking. For example if your mud flaps are 10 inches off the ground that's considered a fine.
13:40
Each update will bring a new part of the map. There might even be Canada, according to a few sources.
Yes, it does rain in CA!!! I love your channel!!!
If you drive in third person, you can see everything on either side of the road, and below all the bridges you go over.
it's so funny to see him get so excited to see american stuff i love it
in fact a 10 speed isnt gonna give you a better MPG than a 18 if you use the right gear at the right rpm. American trucks are designed to be runned between 1300 and 1500 rpm, so at your cruise speed you should run an average og 1400-1450 rpm to hit the fuel economy range of the engine. In term of the gears, the only thing that's gonna change is that when you'll pull heavier loads you're gonna have less trouble pulling it with a 13 or a 18 speed transmission because of the gear ratio and the RPM difference between gears.
Yeah. With the right gearing you can drive a rig at virtually any speed and get a nice mpg. I drive too but I'm a company driver. But I'm planning on getting my own truck in a few years.
yeah...in the US the trucking industry is really better than here in Canada, specially in Quebec, but theres money to gain here too. And there would be more if the Gov could understands that the industry is in urgent need of some help, not of more regulations every years...
what makes American truck simulator great and not boring is the sites
In america you can turn right on red unless a sign says otherwise and the speedometers are set at intervals of 10 to answer your question
I guess our mentality of letting cars turn right even on red is that is doable to merge with same direction traffic, as long as you have enough room to do so. The only way we have a green arrow light is for left turns.
You should be able to get snow in Sierra Nevada, but I don't know if you're able to drive in that area.
Actually when a person is merging on a highway in America you don't stop you keep speeding up until you get up to speed and then merge and the cars on the highway is supposed to slow down or change lanes to allow the traffic merging in on to the highway.
heck I just discovered you because on my home page you popped up as an also might like because I was watching a American Truck Sim vid from a gamer I watch in England. . Keep em coming. I'm actually fascinated by it. and enjoying the hades out of it
When you said green arrow i directly thought about the superhero green arrow
And whenever i see one of those green arrows as lights i think of it to
20:41 I love how excited he got 🤣🤣🤣
I take my coffee black, like my man.
Airplane, such an awsome movie
only thing I recognized that meant that he's in Reno is the Nugget casino in the background in the beginning
great video squirrel. you can turn right with out the penalty.
well, 30degrees is quite acceptable as in Singapore, the temperature is 28-33degrees celcious and 98% humidity after a rain, the temperature will be 25-27 degrees Celsius
4:17, Yep. Putting down your roof while its raining is a good idea.
I remember play 18 wheels of hauling, it was in East U.S.A / Canada
As usual, it differs state per state (referring to lights on in tunnel). Most states only have lights on laws for longer tunnels, most short tunnels are exempt (short being less than 400 yd)
I think it would be really nice if there is snow in the Arizona DLC and if there would be a Ice Road DLC in Alaska or in Canada.
Carzone=Auto Zone. Hope they add older trucks in game like the Peterbilt 379, Kenworth K100,. And new trucks like the beautiful International LoneStar.
9:15 That is like... Northern Canada. That is past freezing point!
