Watched this video sometime in 2007. My first time hearing Crass. I'm glad your original posting is still up for it now, years later. Found so much great music through you uploading this one.
Remember when this got into the local top 30 chart when it came out in 81/82 time. The dj played it! Lol was so funny in amongst all the pop shit of the time:) He didn't even realise what he had played lol Those were the days.
juveale29 the way it falls apart and comes back together is what makes it for me. It reminds me of the velvet underground. Songs that are about to go off the rails and regroup last second.
Some people say that this song is out of date, that we no longer live with the threat of nuclear war....the world is a safer place than it was thirty years ago. Those people are wrong. Whilst super powers still have nuclear deterrents this nightmare could happen again....at any time...minute....second.
@TheAkatsuki10 The song, the sentiments, are not anti American. Both sides did awful things. The song and lyrics are anti war and the pollution of the psyche that this caused to all of humanity. This what we should never forget.
same as me mate i still have it,i was 14 when i got it as well & the shadow of nuclear war was all to real... i think this song brought it home to me more than anything else.
The best punk single of all time in my book, or was it classed as a double A single, I forget tbh coz I've lost too many braincells over the years 😂. But had it back in the day and remembered it opened up into a poster like a fair few Crass records did. Best punk band ever if you ask me, bloody love em 🖤
They're always there high in the skies... Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Pretty as a picture in the generals' eyes Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare They've done it once, they'll do it again They'll shower us all in their deadly rain Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Fishing children fish in the Imperial Waters Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Sons and lovers, lovers and daughters Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Cherry Blossom hanging on the cherry blossom tree Flash, blinding flash, then there's nothing to see Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Dying they're still dying, one by one Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Darkness in the land of the rising sun Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Lesson learnt the lesson? No, 'cause no one really cares It's so easy to be silent just to cover up your fears Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare So they die in the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare And live with the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Will you stand by and let it happen again? Nightmare death in the deadly rain Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Live with the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare And die in the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Nightmare comes in deadly rain Nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, rain Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare Manmade power, manmade pain, Nagasaki nightmare Deadly rain, deadly rain, Nagasaki nightmare They'll do it again, shower us in rain Deadly, deadly, deadly rain Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki Nightmare
The "Enola Gay" didn't drop on Nagasaki, thier target was Hiroshima. The "Bocs Car" was the aircraft, with a different crew, that hit Nagasaki. Nagasaki has an incredible museum - worth the trip to Japan; I defy you to walk through it with dry eyes ; ( It will break your heart
I think a lot of people are forgetting that the message of this song was not so much a siding with imperialist Japan as it was a gruesome report on the horror of nuclear war...because dropping a bomb is a more detached action than fighting bloody battles man-on-man, its really important that the issue of nuclear bombing be adressed...
@saintsaens21 They bombed Hiroshima on august 6th. No reply from japan so they dropped the second on Nagasaki on the 9th. You don't think 3 days was long enough for a response?
This song is unbelievably Brilliant! I'm only 24 but my parents had this as a single. It blew my mind as a kid and still does now. Does any one remember/know what the B side was?
That's actually incorrect. The US dropped the bombs to send a message to Stalin, a show of force, nuclear diplomacy. Japan was already destroyed (McNamara), and was attempting to surrender. Not to mention Russia was about to enter the Pacific theater. Check out the book The Decision to Drop the Bomb by Gar Alperovitz or Hasegawa's Racing the Enemy or Google Frank Brodhead's "A New Look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki". Peace.
the thing that hurts me the most is how little kids from BOTH sides and innocent people were killed thats the thing i hate about war just because two people dont agree with each other then millions suffer
The fire-bombing of Tokyo killed over 500,000 thats in a single 24-hour period. Conditions were just right that incendiary bombs were fanned by winds creating a fire storm. As in Dresden, the firestorm would consume all the oxygen and create a vacuum, increasing the winds, etc until mortar and solid rock begin to melt.
this is in reply to your comment that was for some reason removed, yea ho chi minh was actually employed by the US to help find downed airmen during the airlifts over the himalayas for each airman rescued he (he was the leader he probably didn't actually recieve them himself) got I think it was 100 goats but when we no longer needed his services we said good riddance. Can you imagine how different history would be if we'd just kept giving him goats?
"Dropping the bombs ended the war", what a load of bull. Firstly there's no way the US could say for sure if japan would resign if they used the bombs. Second, in a war there's no excuse for murdering civilians to end it. Yeah, it's history, but try justifying nuking Baghdad in the US's current war, and you'll see the problem. Why didn't they drop it on a military target?
@whitetrashoutlaw I agree, but I believe it was Michael Parenti who theorized that because mankind has outgrown religion (which is a form of authority), we will eventually outgrow government and selfish human nature altogether. It's an interesting concept.
the japanese government had allready tried to surrender under one condition: That the emperor still would be emperor. After the nuclear bombs, they surrendered conditionless. Now ask yourself: How many hundred thousands of life's is overthrowing an emperor worth? None if you ask me...
I agree. I hate the phrase "God Bless America", because it discouts other nations...by patriotism, I really mean the freedoms and liberties(both dwindling quickly) that America is meant to stand for...
Wow. I had no idea it was meant for Kyoto, OR that Nagasaki was even a civilian town. I knew there were many civilian casualties, but the high-school textbooks never tell you WHY. This is why I love the internet. THIS is free speech...and I think theinternet in general is a very punk rock idea....
the only way anarchy could happen, is by itsself,to impose it would contradict its fundamental principle. not many people want anarchy unfortunately and those few won't impose it so it' unlikely it'd happen soon...
@Hopglock - I don´t understand your problem. You defend US all the times. Isn´t the atomic bomb proof enought for you to see US is sick. In war you should find the people responsible and attack them, not wipe out a hole city of innocent people. US didn´t do anything on the attack on Pearl Harbor even if they knew the coming attack, just to have a excuse attacking Japan. But we could discuss this forever..
That's simply not true. While no nation won, or could have won, WWII on its own, the USSR was the big victor in Europe. The USSR was then heading for Japan. The USA "had" to win before the USSR got there. While not a popular opinion in Japan, some Japanese historians think that the consequence of Russia getting to Japan before the USA would have had even worse consequences.
@whitetrashoutlaw that is very true but what till happen to is they will simply die. the selfish and ignorant will die will the smart and strong will live a happy and a more free life.
@whitetrashoutlaw to become a big anarchist society there will be a long way of learning.cause to be free is like walking. but in a system you arent free, and no authority will teach you how to walk. so you must try it on your own, very difficulty (hope you understand me^^ greetings from germany)
People need take the Power from the bourgeoisie. Not destroy any way of Power, but take to ourselves, to common interest. All the egoism and bad things atributed to human in the context of famine, misery and destroying nature unlike people think it isn't the human nature but yes the nature of the powerfuls, imperialist, those desire more and more. Communism offers the solution! ( Comunism, NOT Stalinism. )
We're in tight confines but some of your remarks amaze me. Britain's billionaires comprise immigrants from very humble backgrounds. Australia is another example of (foreign) rags to riches. When you say "the world" and then "they are more interested in trying to milk the US" could you be more specific? The reason I ask is that in my mind the US people among other peoples are being milked. Not by me alone I hope!
As one of Japanese, every year on this day(9th of Aug) I watch this video not to forget the history.
This might sound really silly, but on behalf of my country, I am so sorry for this. It makes me sick.
@@tristezzalamentoluciano265 even if it was extreme it was still one of the best solutions to it, japanese were fierce
it’s 9th of aug again
This shouldnt be age restricted. Everybody should know the horrific effects of nuclear war
Man made power, man made pain - exactly
Best punk band ever Crass are in my book
Thanks very much for your comments, it's appreciated.
Watched this video sometime in 2007. My first time hearing Crass. I'm glad your original posting is still up for it now, years later. Found so much great music through you uploading this one.
Crass to this day is still relevant, and speak only the truth.
“It’s so easy to be silent just to cover up your fear”
Remember when this got into the local top 30 chart when it came out in 81/82 time.
The dj played it! Lol was so funny in amongst all the pop shit of the time:)
He didn't even realise what he had played lol
Those were the days.
this is so potent, zen montage and crass, a powerful mixture, hope we all continue to waken up to the consequences of what we create/destroy
Probably the best Crass song
juveale29 the way it falls apart and comes back together is what makes it for me. It reminds me of the velvet underground. Songs that are about to go off the rails and regroup last second.
Big A little A is my favourite, closely followed by this
Bloody revolutions
This song is a bit frightening.
But Crass is GENIUS.
I did too, when I first heard this.....how could you not be affected somehow...some parts of this song just curdled my blood....
this song is so horrifying and unsettling... so powerful. People need to hear this one
Some people say that this song is out of date, that we no longer live with the threat of nuclear war....the world is a safer place than it was thirty years ago.
Those people are wrong. Whilst super powers still have nuclear deterrents this nightmare could happen again....at any time...minute....second.

A long time ago, but something that should be remembered now. Please.
Fantastic, haunting, true.............real!!!!!!!!
Thanx. This SHOULD be played to evry child in school then where will the support come from.
I first heard this song in 1983, it was mind blowing...thank you.. 5***** stars
The best punk single of all time in my book, or was it classed as a double A single, I forget tbh coz I've lost too many braincells over the years 😂. But had it back in the day and remembered it opened up into a poster like a fair few Crass records did. Best punk band ever if you ask me, bloody love em 🖤
Crass is more then a punk band. It's the musical cultivation of tragedy.
They're always there high in the skies...
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Pretty as a picture in the generals' eyes
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
They've done it once, they'll do it again
They'll shower us all in their deadly rain
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Fishing children fish in the Imperial Waters
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Sons and lovers, lovers and daughters
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Cherry Blossom hanging on the cherry blossom tree
Flash, blinding flash, then there's nothing to see
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Dying they're still dying, one by one
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Darkness in the land of the rising sun
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Lesson learnt the lesson? No, 'cause no one really cares
It's so easy to be silent just to cover up your fears
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
So they die in the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
And live with the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Will you stand by and let it happen again?
Nightmare death in the deadly rain
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Live with the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
And die in the nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Nightmare comes in deadly rain
Nightmare, nightmare, nightmare, rain
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki nightmare
Manmade power, manmade pain, Nagasaki nightmare
Deadly rain, deadly rain, Nagasaki nightmare
They'll do it again, shower us in rain
Deadly, deadly, deadly rain
Nagasaki nightmare, Nagasaki Nightmare
single greatest (thus far) avoidable act of perfidy perpetrated against ones fellow man.
The "Enola Gay" didn't drop on Nagasaki, thier target was Hiroshima.
The "Bocs Car" was the aircraft, with a different crew, that hit Nagasaki.

my favourite CRASS number
Fuck u
thanks anarcho alan for all the great videos :)
クラスの思いは伝わらない。音楽は政治を変えられない。泣きたくなる…
One of the most powerfull songs of all time. Thanks for posting. Sheep farming in the Falklands is a great song too.
Poignant reminder - 75 years ago today
@saintsaens21 They bombed Hiroshima on august 6th. No reply from japan so they dropped the second on Nagasaki on the 9th. You don't think 3 days was long enough for a response?
Incredible!! I never seen a video about the explosion of Nagasaki in 1945
This song is unbelievably Brilliant! I'm only 24 but my parents had this as a single. It blew my mind as a kid and still does now. Does any one remember/know what the B side was?
Big A, Little A
As a human race we will never learn from our mistakes, but for how to make them worse.
THANKYOU!
@whitetrashoutlaw Finally someone who said it short and clear! Cheers and gj for that! :)
@munggipossu The Japanese where already trying to negotiate surrender! USA wanted to send a message to Russia.

no more nuclear anything......
love this version
Thanks AnarchoAlan
@Mike9162 Why listen to Crass? With a comment like that.

nice comments Yaddayadda, if only the powers that be thought that way we could live without fear.
great....

They are psychopats, that's why.
@saintsaens21 they wanted to stop the war as fast as possible and not risk their own lives atom bomb is stupidiest idea ever
powerful music. true fucking punk.
The horror. The horror.
Fantastic
this is punk!!!!!!!!!!!
@whitetrashoutlaw I agree, but I believe it was Michael Parenti who theorized that because mankind has outgrown religion (which is a form of authority), we will eventually outgrow government and selfish human nature altogether. It's an interesting concept.
thanks for posting the definition... there are so many people who are thinking: patriotism = nationalism
thanks for making it clear
This is some creepy stuff. :o
Incredible.
Anarchy is a temporary and the step of rebuilding. It is not long lasting.
BIG A, LITTLE A...
Brilliance
If anyone meant what they sang about it was Crass...
...and they died in a nightmare, nightmare, nightmare - Nagasaki nightmare!!
the japanese government had allready tried to surrender under one condition: That the emperor still would be emperor. After the nuclear bombs, they surrendered conditionless. Now ask yourself: How many hundred thousands of life's is overthrowing an emperor worth? None if you ask me...
Anarchy as a goal to achive might be, yet as a set of values it is not. If freedom ain't something to fight for what is?
The simple answer? They dropped an Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
The first and so far only time atomic bombs have been used in warfare.
@joeyvanderkaay Crass is poetry I'd say..
I agree. I hate the phrase "God Bless America", because it discouts other nations...by patriotism, I really mean the freedoms and liberties(both dwindling quickly) that America is meant to stand for...
Thanks for the flutes to me given in bankk - Kali gat 1990
RIP
Fight war, not wars.
@Inzect1001 Isnt every country?
@Merzbowxnoise I agree sir!
@LeshaAnn Mass extermination as a means to an end is NEVER acceptable!
It was August 9
thank you for being decent, for seeing the bigger picture....... a lot dont. And thats what causes all the problems WE have to deal with
Wow. I had no idea it was meant for Kyoto, OR that Nagasaki was even a civilian town. I knew there were many civilian casualties, but the high-school textbooks never tell you WHY. This is why I love the internet. THIS is free speech...and I think theinternet in general is a very punk rock idea....
stuff of nightmares

not many people want anarchy unfortunately and those few won't impose it so it' unlikely it'd happen soon...
look up nuclear black rain if you are confused why they keep mentioning rain.
Now THATS a good comment.
This piece just followed Sysyphus by Pink Floyd. Perfection!
yeah, its supposed to lauch it on Kyoto
What is the difference between the bombing of Hamburg and Nagasaki?
What makes Nagasaki so special?
@Hopglock - I don´t understand your problem. You defend US all the times. Isn´t the atomic bomb proof enought for you to see US is sick. @Krasnovoin Yeah, that would be nice, wouldn't it?
夏の日の1945
My name is Allan. Maybe I should call myself, "Nihilistallan."
Glad you posted all these , thanks for the uploads.
Thanks for these uploads.
@JaEuerMeister - i agree with u
Well if that was your big fish... you ordered it, not me.
