    I've had a Rachio 3 for about 3 years now. My original Rachio 3 stopped working about 6 months after the warranty, the WiFi in it stopped working. I worked with Rachio on support for my situation and they were great. They didn't send me a free replacement, but they deeply discounted a new replacement. Swapping it out took about 10 minutes. One important thing to realize (and something I was worried about) was that your settings for Zones, Soil Types, Schedules, its all stored in the Rachio cloud. The replacement controller automatically downloaded all of the configuration and it was like magic. I was very please with this. Rachio is a great company to work with. While I was dissapointed that the original unit failed, I'm thinking it took a surge, so I bought a surge plug for the new one.

    watched the video , bought one and installed and set up the zones in a half hour , maybe less. App is very intuitive and easy
    to use. Works great, very happy with it.

    Where can I find that grey cover that’s at the bottom of your controller to help clean up the wires?

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  Год назад

      Unfortunately it’s not available to buy anywhere that I could find. It was part of the Weathermatic controller that I replaced. I contacted them but they won’t sell that part individually.

    Watched this video and set mine up in about 20 minutes. Thanks. I need to find the cover that fits over the pvc and fits flush with the control unit. Nothing at lowes and I can’t find online. Did that come with previous controller? Where did you find it?

    I bought my Rachio-3 12 Zones in 2022, I don't know why my controller only allow me to set the interval Odd Days or Even Days only, it does not have like water Every 3 Days or so on?

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  2 месяца назад

      Yeah you should be able to do all of that.
      To set up a Rachio 3 irrigation system to water every two days, you can use the Fixed Schedule option to select a daily interval:
      Open the Rachio app and select your controller
      Select the Schedules tab
      Click Create Schedule
      Select Fixed
      Choose the zones to associate with the schedule
      Name the schedule
      Select Daily Interval
      Choose Every 2 Days
      Select when the schedule should start and end
      You can also use other options when creating a schedule, such as:
      By day of week: Select specific days of the week to water
      Even/odd interval: Water on either even or odd calendar days
      Hourly interval: Water more than once a day, such as every hour, every two hours, or every four hours
      You can edit a schedule by opening it in the app, tapping the fields you want to change, and then tapping Done to save

    excellent video, where did you get the plastic cover for covering the wires? thanks

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  Год назад

      It was part of the original sprinkler controller so I reused it. I’ve tried to find it online and even contacted the manufacturer and they don’t sell that piece. Would be a great 3D printer project as several people on this channel have asked this same question 😀

    Nice video. Does the app support watering frequency of more than 2 weeks? Some of my citrus fruits only need to be watered once a month. Not sure if frequencies can be custom.

    • @handy.ginger

      I have not tried this but it seems doable. I believe you could set a manual schedule for daily interval and set the interval of up to 21 days.

    Where did you get the grey plastic part coming from the white pipe to the controller? The piece that flattens out from the pipe?

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  2 года назад +1

      I was part of the original sprinkler controller install…I just reused that part for this particular install.

    Do we have to dewinterize the sprinklers before installing the rachio system?

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  Год назад

      No, you shouldn’t have to do that before installing.

  • @maltesemovies
    @maltesemovies Год назад +1

    Stupid question here but do you turn off your power to the house before installation?

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  Год назад

      Disclaimer: I am not a licensed electrician so please follow my advice at your own risk.
      Given that no you shouldn’t have to turn off power to your house. The sprinkler controller is powered by plugging in the cord to an outlet so as long as it isn’t plugged in you are good

    So this is a phone only controller? No way to use it manually without a phone? Or if Wi-Fi goes out?

    • @handy.ginger
      @handy.ginger  2 года назад +2

      Sort of. You can run each zone manually from the unit, but all programming and setup is done via the phone app. Once you set your program(s) it pushes it to the cloud and the unit downloads it locally so if you happen to lose WiFi connection it will still run all your programs.

      I believe the pump relay should be connected into the ‘M’ port. That is labeled as the master valve or the pump relay according to Rachios docs.
